  1. I towed and found the mudflaps front and rear the best money I had spent, pounding the motorways the caravan looked better than many of the others without flaps what with the spray and everything. I did talk to a chap that extended the bottom edge of his flaps with stainless steel cut from old fridge panels.
  2. My brother has dogs and uses seatcovers from Amazon around £18
  3. I put my car in after having the pedal going to the floor (dealer had previously done a job on the brakes*) I was on holiday at the time towing, the brakes came back after steady pumping and were fine afterwards. Dealer comment "there was still a little air in the system" No problem since. *A weeping brake cylinder, which was changed before the holiday.
  4. Stubod, I was just thinking the same thing!
  5. I just remembered this if it is any use

    Paco

I remember watching people drag the engine around for reverse? or sticking their leg in the engine bay to kickstart the motor. I'd better stop taking these tablets, my mind is obviously playing tricks.

    Paco

I initially had a lot of problems with the car stalling after the engine restarted when I first got this current car. This resulted in embarrassing (and dangerous) stalls, so I just switch it off if the situation warrants it. Ryman, I think the old 350cc Jawa Motorcycle had an altenator/ startermotor back in the 60s
  8. Caravans have their own brakes, unbraked trailers are lighter to allow car brakes to cope. I love my Yeti it handles well and performs well belying its rather retro look and leaving many in its dust. I think mine is an EU6 engine but I cannot even recall my registration number so I could be wrong.
  9. The 2.0 diesel 110 has shopping trolley brakes, adequate but nothing to match a performance increase. I towed a caravan and never felt the need for 150 (a little more torque would have been nice though)
  10. Celtic tuning say remapping my 100 engine up to 150 but the gearbox etc. is only ok up to this increase
  11. I find battery condition can make a difference as to how well the mirrors fold and I leave the key sticking out of the fob (like an aerial) it would be nice to know where the receiver is it might help the key fob battery if it is low.
  12. I have towed a caravan and driven 5 people about with my Yeti 2.0 diesel, (not at the same time ) I don't know any better and the Yeti thinks it is a sports car but it suits me and performance is that cliched "brisk".
  13. Thank you all for your reassurances, I shall have to wait a while and see.
  14. Coming up to the big 70, first thing anyone says is your car insurance will soar. Has anyone experience of this hike in prices? This could affect whether or not I keep the Yeti as it is coming to contracts end.
  15. The slow speed retract is very handy on the Kingsbridge to Slapton road!

    Turbo whistle

I had a strange whistle, I immediately thought "Turbo" this went on for months. Eventually I lifted the bonnet and trapped in the corner in the drain area was a leaf, I cleaned it out checked my oil and washer bottle then shut the lid. After that no more Turbo whistle.
  17. My headlight spray only works if I hold the switch too long, try it while parked up. It is a bit startling to get the full spray, I copped it while overtaking once.
  18. Not hate, just making sure you understood, obviously you do. Good luck to your dog and yourself.
  19. Dogs die in cars all the time, unfortunately so do babies and small children, shade moves, queues slow down "quick dives" into shops. Cars overheat very quickly and interiors reach very high temperatures, ventilators only allow already hot air to circulate. It takes seconds to slip on a lead and take the dog with you or leave it at home.
  20. This is a 2-Part Explanation of a good bloke fitting a catch can. https://caravanchronicles.com/2018/06/17/catch-me-if-you-can/ https://caravanchronicles.com/2018/06/28/catch-me-if-you-can-part-2/
  21. It might be cheaper direct from Lichfield rather than through Amazon.
  22. The roof bars will have a load (weight) limit, don't exceed it, and if you go ahead make sure it is secure! Over the last couple of months I have been just missed by, bikes and their rack, holiday suitcases and a couple of dining chairs.
  23. I was toying with asking the same question! If there is a decent recommended Skoda fettler in the Bristol area I would like to know. In my doings with cars, there has always been an independent somewhere handy whatever the make.
  24. I took my car back with a faulty radio, they found no fault. This the second time, I feel it is low battery fault which turns off any unnecessary 12v usage. Urged them to test the battery but they say it is fine my C-tek charger says otherwise.
