Front brake discs & pads.....what have you fitted?
Day-VRS replied to mikey vrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Only problem I had with Pagid is they tend to warp very easily. Day -
It could be a faulty sensor, the reluctor ring could have broken too. Day

first impressions of the pd engine are not great.
Day-VRS replied to d3ekn's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Look at taxis for example (VAG). They're abused daily, lots of short journeys, never truly looked after and they still clock 300k+ and keep going. A friend of mine has a PD130 in a passant. Pulling trailers pretty much everyday, again, gets used, abused and not one fault bar a dodgy DMF. Sounds like you're one of the rare few with a bad engine. Day -
It was in no way meant that your work is untidy. I'm not questioning your method of work, your quality of work or anything else for that matter. Simple matter of fact is, I prefer a factory finish as with others will be happy with splicing the wire in. Personal preferences and nothing more. Day
-
Did I say your work was untidy? I just dont see the point in chopping into the loom when it takes a little more effort to plug it in. I work with gas/steam turbines and jet engines for a living so my attitude towards a job is to do by the book. Day
-
I've got said instructions, just a little bit vague thats all lol. And I prefer to do things properly. Takes a little longer but its neater. Day
-
Is there a guide available that uses the plug and play rather than the splicing route? Thanks Day

The strips that halfords sell are extremely strong. I used to work there and had no end up fun trying to peel them off again. Even strong enough to hold on a spoiler for a couple of months too lol. You can get it in different thicknesses too. Day

East Midlands Meet - Tuesday 25th June 2013 - Junc 28 M1
Day-VRS replied to Brimma's topic in East Midlands
I'm up for going, finally a meet thats not a million miles away haha! Day -
What does it actually entail? I'm quite good with fiddly jobs. Would rather not do any chopping lol Day
-
I hope he gets what he deserves. Licences revoked, banned from racing, even a prison sentence. Day
-
Should be able to unplug the sensor and reroute the cable. As for the securing clips, they should still be on the old struts Day
-
I understand its the 6Q0 or 6Q1 I need. Is there any way of checking visually? The kit I bought from skoda. It should all just be plug and play, no splicing involved? Thanks Day
-
It should be round the back of the shock absorber Day

My local exhaust place won't charge a silly amount for a stainless system from downpipe back. And nah, wanting a MK1 Octavia VRS as a toy. Fabia was just bought as a daily/commuter. Will still be looked after though :-) if a FVRS with a knackered engine came up I might be interested though lol Day

Well the car has only done 42k so better to do it now rather than later lol. So you have any recommendations for the decat/back box? As for the EGR. I can clear the codes. Didn't know if VCDS could be used to switch it off completely. Car doesn't get driven very hard at all tbh so the light could be on quite often lol. Thanks Day
-
So it would be worthwhile just having a system made from the downpipe? Would like to keep the car reliable, just have a little more poke for when the need arises lol. Will doing an EGR delete throw the light up instantly? Can this be cured with VCDS? Thanks Day
-
Will be looking into a remap around September time. Car has just been lowered with H&R springs, new gas shocks, powerflex console bushes. Not had no issues with the brakes yet, will be looking into bigger brakes around remap time. And funnily enough I've got a cruise control kit sitting here at the moment lol. Just need to check that it will work now haha Thanks Day
-
An EGR delete is definitely on the cards, never been overly fond of them lol. As for the IM that should be a doddle. Would a PD160 exhaust give any improvement? Not looking to chase silly power. Just a little more than stock:-) Thanks Day
-
I think a FMIC will be unnecessary for the time being. Will look into a decat/ EGR delete though Thanks! Day
-
Hmm. Never had no noise or anything. Might be worth checking to see everything is all assembled properly. Haven't had any issues at all with mine. Day

Recent bought a Fabia as a little run around and fancied a change of scene. Ive never had much experience with tuning the PD engines so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. In regards to making the engine breath a little better along with freeing up some power. Can anyone recommend any supporting mods for when I have the car remapped? Would things like a decat/EGR delete make any difference? Thanks Day
-
Did you replace the top mounts? Or assemble correctly? Day

Sounds like the oil rings are shot. I've had numerous B/D series engined cars and never suffered excessive oil usage. The only time you get that is with one thats spent most of its life in VTEC. Too many rough EK9's out there. Buy a clean/well looked after model. You'll suffer less issues and have better luck when it comes to selling the car on. Day

Cant agree more with this. Not only that you won't overpressurise the system with a heavy pedal. Day
