  1. You will be more than happy with the MINI. I did the same too. Go rid of my 10 months old sport and got 2015 MINI COOPER D. Enjoy your car.
  2. Thanks mate, you are a star. Which place would you recommend in France to drive for the first time. I was thinking of Normandy may be. I don't understand why am I so nervous as I come from India and have driven there for 10 years. They say if you have driven in India then you can drive any where in the world. ;-)
  3. No dealer will do the tints themselves, they will have a contractor come in and do the job. The sales rep gave me the details of the contractors they use regularly and I called them directly. I paid £220. You might be able to find it cheaper however beware of the cowboys as they need to take the door cards out and you dont to be left with rattley doors.
  4. Cheers fellas, after all your comments i have decided not to drive out of england. Too scared already.. :-(
  5. I would love to drive in France, may be not in Paris. How difficult is it to drivre in France?
  6. +1 on that. I had a mark 3 hatch and replaced it with an estate and I love the look of the estate. Same thing goes for Superb too, hatch is a tad bit boaring however estate looks great...
  7. We came to Paris for the weekend and I was surprised to see Octavias (specially mark III) almost every where. No matter where you look you will find an Octavia passing by. Ok, most of them are cabs ;-( but still I saw families driving it too. Surprisingly, their S model has no alloys and looks quite basic with thin tyres. Still, its good to see how the brand is growing.
  8. I would those snailuk.. May be plastidip on the badges will do the trick.
  9. Yes, I can understnd what you mean. Why not we just don't call my car a black edition then? Every one will be happy!! :-))
  10. No Vindis couldnt save the chrome grill. It was an awkward moment for me when the technician walked out and said sorry Mr Dutt we couldnt save the chrome grill however your new black grill is safe and sound and looks super on your car.. ;-)
  11. Hi, Finally I managed to transform my Black Edition into a True Black Edition. Black magic wing mirrors and front grill. Thanks to all the members who shared the information on getting the parts and their experiences on this. FYI: I ordered the grill from the dealer for £42.50 ONLY as compared to £74 from superskoda including delivery. Grill was delivered to the dealer the very next day of ordering and because I am not quiet handy when it comes to doing such jobs, the grill was fitted by the dealer for £19. Wing mirrors were replaced by the dealer at the time of delivery for £32. So, the over all black pack cost me £93.50 (which is not bad i think). I must say this mod has certainly made the car look more aggressive... ;-)) Please se some photos for your reference...
  12. Thats exactly what I asked the service executive however I was getting mixed answers, one guy said its a recall on the power unit and another said its a performance upgrade and notes say it was just an update. It took them 45 minutes to perform it (FYI). My concern is, if it was that urgent and they didnt let me walk out of the showroom whithout having it done then why didnt they or SUK phone me to have it done ASAP. I could be wrong however the car was bit sharper to drive after the upgrade. On the other hand how can a power unit update have any contribution towards the overall performance? So probably its just in my head.
  13. I was scheduled to go to the dealer today to have my black grill fitted on my black edition (pic to follow on another topic). While on my way to the dealer I phoned them to tell that I am running late and then they told me that there is an urgent performance upgrade on your car which we will do once you come. Notes as per the workshop; Completed 97BB workshop campaign - Updated on board power supply control unit. I was surprised that there was no notification on the issue and I was informed when I phoned them to make some changes to my appointment. They mentioned that almost every car is going through this update however they only do it when the car comes in for service or any other issue. I would recommend that members should phone the dealer to see if there car needs any update. Thanks Saurabh
  14. One more point, I am not sure if it is just me but I found rear viewing much better on the estate than on the hatch (angled rear screen).
  15. I had a hatch for 10 months and replaced it with a combi/estate just because I liked the look of the estate. It looks bulckier from the rear and roof bars add a nicer touch to it.
  16. I wouldnt worry too much about the DPF. I have been driving diesel engines for the last 12 years and I just love them. I currently own an Octavia III Black Edition 1.6 TDI Estate and a 2015 MINI Cooper D, I get around 63 and 78 MPGs out respectively. As you can tell that I have a light right foot hence I always sit under 2K revs. Yes, I dont mostly sit in the slow moving traffic however I only do 1000 miles per month on an average. So far I havent had any problems what so ever with the dpf. I would highly recomend the new diesel engines.
  17. Yes it is mettalic black magic same as the mirrors
  18. Super skoda is selling the grill for 69 euros and every skida dealer in the UK is selling it for £42.60. I have ordered mine today and the dealer will have it by Wednesday and then I'll have to wait for them to fit it as I cant really do it myself. Unless one of the very kind members want to help me do it.. ;-) Cheers
  19. Also, Vindis Skoda have the grill for £42.60 thats quite reasonable as compared to superskoda.
  20. I I have just called Vindis Skoda and Natheniel (parts rep) quoted me 45 minutes £60 to fit the grill. I told him that some one on the forum has been quoted 15 mins £19 already from your department. He agreed to honor the £19 quote. I think its a pretty good deal.
