  1. My 1.4 BBY has plenty of room to reach down past battery.
  2. Before you go too far, have you had a good look in the socket, I've had cars in the past where the contacts are so covered in fag ash and corrosive **** from the lighter element that you don't get a good connexion with a power plug. A good clean of the contacts (mainly the centre +ve one) gets them working again. Take the fuse out first, because you are bound to blow it by inserting a screwdriver or suchlike to scratch the contacts clean! If its nice and clean but still doesn't work then you need to test for the presence, or lack of, of 12v.
  3. They tried to use the former American air force base at Ben****ers (just north of Woodbridge in Suffolk) when it closed in the late 90s but couldn't get the planning past the local Barbour Jacket/Green Wellie brigade with their country holiday retreats! Failed at the first hurdle.
  4. Same problem with my Nextbase 202. Its definately the power unit radiating sh#t. Resolved by using the power unit from a scrap TomTom. Well known in the comms trade that a lot of these plug in power units are rubbish despite having a CE mark. Be wary about hardwiring without some knowledge, if your camera has a USB (mini/micro) power socket the it IS EXPECTING 5volts . Direct connexion , ie cutting off the plug and wiring to 12volt will cause it a short but spectacular life! As you will have guessed from my forum name I've been into comms for a lot of years and this latest lot of mainly chinese stuff has caused no end of interference problems.
  5. Front door opening and two little (both under 3) voices calling "grandad". Makes my day everytime.
  6. Yeh but with that size generator you'll never have a flat battery or power steering shutdown!
  7. As a rule if an email perporting to come from Paypal starts "dear customer" its a scam; genuine Paypal emails have your name in the heading, but ,of course the best way is always frequent password changes.
  8. https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Fon+Wireless+Ltd.&hl=en_GB I don't think FON Wireless Ltd is the same as BT FON its a google app.
  9. He is staying until at least December (emergency congress/ vote) so plenty of time to cover up/destroy anything implicating him!
  10. Approaching a zebra crossing this morning and seeing two females standing there I stopped ,they both ignored me and carried on their conversation. If you need to yap ladies move away from the crossing.
  11. Agreed and he'll go on to breed more like him I expect.
  12. According to Mr Haynes you need to take the glovebox out!
  13. Checked the brake fluid yet? If I had a car with a flashing brake warning light I think I'd go there first!
  14. I glance through the "verbal nonsense" posts and think OK not for me, and I recall the old adage, "empty barrels make the most noise"
  15. http://www.sandicliffeshop.co.uk/product/Skoda_Fabia_Estate_%282000_-_2005%29_Dog_Restraint_%7C_Luggage_Partition_%28DMS420001A%29_ODMS420001A Something like this maybe..search part No DMS420001A
  16. Is the compartment the whole width? If so it could be to hold the optional "roller load net" which is used to partition the load section from the passengers, ie, fits between top of seats and the roof lining and stops loads moving forward. Its page 73 of the drivers handbook if that helps.
  17. Left mine in to see how long it will take for someone to say "your tax is out mate".
  18. "The move, which will become law on 1 October, follows a similar ban in Wales and aims to protect young people under 18 from second-hand smoke. Scotland is also considering introducing a ban." As its under 18s then I would think that, Gary "just passed my test" and his mates popping wheelies in Tescos can now add smoking to the list when stopped on "Police Interceptors"
  19. Why would you want to drive a car without a safety critical device fitted?
  20. Mk1 Elegance has them..should be readily available I would think...good breakers yard?
  21. Passed in 1966 in a Mk1 Ford Cortina....took time off school for lessons (20 sessions 1 hour each at £1 a time..17th birthday present). Later same year joined Post Office telephones as an apprentice and saved for six weeks to buy a Ford Thames 100e van in a fetching shade of black! Fortunately my dad was workshop foreman at the local Ford main dealers and we lived on the premises so Ford motoring was quite cheap, until he retired.
  22. In the real world it would have to be another small sensible car... but in my fantasy world I'd go back to my Range Rover classic V8. However I do fancy a Prius just so I could creep up behind the silly buggers who insist on walking in the road!
  23. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/334979-alternator-load-signal-wire/?hl=%2Bbattery+%2Bcharging+%2Bfault#entry4051682 This sort of thing probably...search "alternator load signal" /"battery charging" for loads more.
  24. Simple check for "sense lead" is... switch on ignition DO NOT START and look for Battery symbol on dashboard...is it there? Yes..sense lead probably OK---NO..sense lead is broken/no continuity.
