  1. As much or as little as you like really. Plug and play: There's MAP1 which you can run on a standard car running 95-99 ron fuel. MAP2 for 97-99ron fuel Custom/Configurable: And MAP6 which is a custom tune, you set boost levels for the given RPM, you can have boost limits per gear so for example I run stock boost in 1st and 2nd, you set a boost safety limit, mines 25psi and if you overboost at all then the unit will swirtch to failsafe mode (MAP4) automatically, I've never had this happen though as im not pushing the boost paticularly high, I'm making power from lower boost and better timing which is how it should be done ideally. George from BMS will work with you to come up with a custom MAP6 if you are new but it's really very simple once you get the hang of reading the logs and understanding how it all comes together to produce the power. So plug and play if you like or tune your own map if you want to dive in a bit further and with additional hardware, you can even run the IS38 with these. It's the only piggyback that has direct control over AFR and Canbus connection, that's key. The logging functionality is fantastic also and it's got built in code reading/clearing. The latest firmware has valet mode where the car runs very little boost at all if you had to leave it somewhere and had any concerns about the car being driven without your consent. They're working on "auto-tune" where the system will apply an adaptive map on the fly and using all the data will tune the car to it's potential automatically at any given point, that will be released in the not too distant. Here's an example of a recent log of mine... https://datazap.me/u/muzza80/rs245-dsg?log=0&data=1-2-4-6-11-14-18 And here's my MAP6 settings -
  2. Some of you may have seen this on the FB page already but thought i'd post it here, might be of interest. So my VRS245 has been running a JB4 since it was just a few weks old back in Feburary. A couple of weeks ago I fitted an ECE HJS RS245 3" downpipe with 100 cell pre cat and 200 cell main cat, the beauty of this downpipe is it can be fitted to a non-flash tuned RS245 and it wont throw up any CEL on the dash as the cat's used keep it compliant with the Euro 6c emissions standard, it's expensive but as I have no plans to flash tune the car this was important to me. I also fitted a Racingline turbo elbow, Ramair panel filter and intake hose into the standard airbox, and sold the Arma full carbon intake I previously had fitted, to be honest it was a bit vocal for my tastes. Ecotune here in Glasgow, a very highly regarded VAG, BMW and Porsche tuning specialist and APR dealer, were having a charity dyno day so I popped along on the day for a bit of banter and the chance to get the 245 on the rollers for a donation to a very worthy cause. They were using the day to promote their own (very good) remaps and the APR options too, along with excellent discounts on hardware. So to summarise, just a JB4 with a custom Map6, downpipe, panel filter, hose and elbow. 331bhp & 370 ft/lbs torque. If anyone was in any doubt on the ability of the JB4 system then this should speak for itself, I'm now running very healthy stage 2 power levels with perfect fuelling and a fantastic timing curve with 12.5 degrees of ignition advance right at the redline. I'm only peaking 23psi tapering down to 16psi at the limiter too so really not stressing the turbo to much at all.
  3. The forged wheels are incredibly light @ 8.5 (or 8.9, can’t remember) kg each, something like 5kg lighter per wheel than the extremes, they’re actually the “super lightweight” optional wheel for the 570s so really we’re a fantastic bargain find, I’m buggered if I ever need to replace one though!! So between the wheels and brakes I’ve shed a massive amount of unsprung and rotating mass, the front of the car feels so much more nimble and direct (not that it felt bad to start with). The full BBK cost me £1300 with everything included, two sets of pads too although that was a haggled price in return for posting feedback and reviews on the various forums and groups. I think the kit price is normally $1999 shipped with one set of pads? The ducts are from aks tuning and were about £40. Juan, you’d need 20mm spacers I’d imagine but I’ll try an extreme and let you know mate.
  4. I have to agree on the brakes. They’ve been using the same brakes on S3/R32 for years, they’re really nothing special. Whilst they’re fine for a standard car I find them lacking in feel and power running circa 300bhp, they show their limits pretty quickly I’ve found, they overheat and fade pretty quickly when pushed. With more power and some track time planned they were a must do upgrade. Just fitted some 6 pots with 356mm floating rotors, braided lines, Dot 5.1 fluid and RS3 brake ducts today to my 245. The improvement is immediate, even when just bedding them in this evening on street pads, I also have some track pads that I’ll be testing at knockhill in the next few weeks. The calipers are a full 4kg (4.8 vs 8.8) lighter than the standard one and the discs are 1.5kg each, that’s a fair saving too!
  5. Here's the Whispbar / Roofbox / Sunroof combo on my 245 hatchback if it helps. Sunroof opens just fine
  6. Stop start update? Is that for the stop/start just not working sometimes and getting the "stop start system error" on the head unit screen? I get that!
  7. As per PM, with the wider rear axle of the facelift, the most you'll get away with on an 8.5J rim is ET45.... my 8J ET40 are tight!
  8. Yes the 245 had the proper VAQ differential, as does the pre-facelift 230 "special edition" with all the black bits. The facelift 230 and the pre-facelift 220 do not.
  9. VRS 19” Xtreme Alloy Wheels from my 12 week old VRS245 come with 225 35 19 Pirelli PZero. Immaculate having covered just 2k from new. £900 collected Glasgow.
  10. Just a heads up for the VRS245 owners, HJS have finally released their VRS245 high flow downpipe that meets the Euro 6c emissions standard, basically that means this wont throw up a CEL (check engine light) when fitted to a standard car (or a JB4 tuned one as in my case) It's a whopping 1600 Euro!!! Nice bit of kit though if you want to retain your warranty, this and a good JB4 map6 config should get you around the 320-330 bhp mark without flashing and completely revertable! https://www.ebay.de/itm/HJS-Edelstahl-76mm-Downpipe-mit-Kat-Skoda-Octavia-RS-245-Typ-5E-Facelift/232746405353
  11. I'm with you, I dont buy into any of this 20k between servicing malarkey.... Previous tuned cars I've always done an oil change every 6k!
  12. Where as I tend to be on comfort most of the time and switch it to normal when I hit the motorway/better roads or on occasion sport when attacking the twisties! I love my DCC, best thing I specced on the car to be honest, but the roads here really are in a shocking state!
  13. Pretty sure you'd need to go custom, the "suitcase" rear muffler of the Golf R & GTI sits right where our spare wheel well is so doesn't fit at all (maybe those cars dont have such a deep boot/space saver)
  14. The problem with wheels that cost £2000 (apparently that's the price from McLaren!!!) each to replace is that im now totally paranoid in case I kill one!! !!!!
  15. Thanks! They are indeed 19", to be completely honest with you I was never totally sold on the black Xtreme's, I'd considered getting them refurb'd in high power silver powdercoat and maybe will still do that. But.... I found a person selling a brand new set of four new FRONT front McLaren 570s optional wheels for similar money as a set of new BBS CH-R's would cost so it wa a no-brainer! FYI (and I never knew this until I looked into it properly), the front of a McLaren 570s comes with a 5x112, 19x8J, ET40.5 wheel with a 57.1 centre bore, they even use the same VAG R13 radius seat bolts!! Unbelievable but true, so I snapped them up..... obviously!!!! , and stuck a set of PS4-S on them But basically, 19x8xET40 is the absolute limit on a 245 due to the 19mm extra track width each side on the rear... My best friend from School lives in Singapore, has done for years and from what ive heard, the roads there, you will be fine with the non-DCC... It's great here in Glasgow though, really glad I specced it, I spend half my driving life swerving potholes!
  16. Don't ask.... he's "two shady" to answer any of your questions.... ....just kidding of course
  17. Haha, cheers but not especially deep, the wheels I picked up for a real bargain and the car was free (I won it on BOTB, just had to pay for the options) so I can afford to spend a bit on it.
  18. Got my 245 DSG on the 8th Feb, currently on 2700 odd miles wothout issue. long list of options including Sunroof, DCC, ACC, Kessy, Canton, Reverse Camera, Heated Windscreen and a few other bits. Currently running approx 300bhp with a JB4 and intake along with lightweight Forged wheels on PS4-S but ill be fitting a Hybrid Turbo, Downpipe, Intercooler and shooting for 400bhp with a custom remap (and JB4 stacked) and DSG tune and fitting my 6-piston 356mm big brake kit to handle the hike in power. Also contemplating some Eibach Pro springs to give a modest drop and even out the arch gaps a little. With VCDS ive disabled the soundaktor and enabled Auto Hi-Beam & VAQ “increased traction” Great car!
  19. Brilliant thanks Tim, and your car is a Facelift correct? I've just been reading some of your posts, fair play to you got diving straight in and modding, I'm a bit that way inclined myself! How are you finding the stage 3 power!? Would you mind tellimg me where done it as I might give them a call and see what they would take for doing it, I'm not that far away and will be going down that way for mapping and such like anyway! Cheers!
  20. Have grand plans for my 245 including hybrid turbo (purchased) with a custom remap and so on. Obviously it will need full bolt on's, downpipe, intake and intercooler, I've no issues with the downpipe or the intake (already fitted) but I cant find any reference to anyone having fitted an intercooler to their MKIII. Wagner state that some modification will be required to fit their MQB intercooler to an Octavia but give no extra detail. Anyone fitted one and can shed any light? Cheers!
  21. The RS245 is Euro 6c emissions compliant, in order to achieve this the downpipe actually had two catalytic converters in it, I suspect the lack of noise is down to that.
  22. Totally agree! I got my vehicle replacement plus GAP for 5 years for my 245 with a £30,000 limit (car value £34,000) for £316 after price match from them!
