When is a closing down sale not a closing down sale ?
samj2013 replied to SkodaKitteh's topic in Off Topic Chat
I don't understand closing down sales in large chains anyway. They shift stock from store to store all the time, why don't they just close the shop and send the stock all back to the warehouse? -
Ah I see! Yep, hopefully!

Had to sell a bike this month as I had no work and am in a lot of debt from trying to stay afloat the last few months while I finished my master's thesis without working. Picked up a part time job in December, and another one in January, and also finished my thesis this month too, meaning I'm now working full time for decent pay. Fingers crossed it won't take them too long to start paying me! (though I can see it being a few weeks into Feb until I'm truly doing alright.) The last month or two have been a real panic for me, getting there though, slowly.

Few of niggles with my octy tdi
samj2013 replied to sebring's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
If you have a hatch, the boot light should be on the underside of the LH bit of trim that the speaker is mounted in. -
For?...

Ah cool, hopefully meet you some other time then! I'm earning now, so should be able to afford fuel money at least And possibly daft question - what does PMOI mean?

Anything planned on Anglesey 15th - 19th of September ?
samj2013 replied to Skoda4x4man's topic in Wales
Hit and miss, usually better on Anglesey than the mainland though. Glad you liked the Ship, even better in the summer! -
Ahh wish I had money for diesel (yes, I'm that skint, could barely afford the fuel to work this month), I would've recognised a few of you from here as well (whoever has the cube van and the green felly). Hopefully next time!

Wow, didn't realise they could be had for that little. Fair enough.

Yeah, I see your point I suppose. I think my friend's D-max was around £33,000. He's got a few optional extras, but mostly the ones that make sense - the under-body panels, cruise control etc. He does around 5000 miles in it each month, so it needs to be comfy! Again though, if it's a company car, it's not going to be bought used. They need to be reliable, and will be sold before they hit 100k, so comparing to a used disco isn't really fair.

Friend of mine has an Isuzu D-max as a company car - works for a forest management company and spends lots of time on access roads. Doesn't have a great deal of money, and the tax is much lower than a non-pickup, apparently drives well and is a nice place to be, and he's a mountain biker, so super easy to sling a few bikes in the back. He seems pretty happy with it, possibly because it's about a million times more practical than his MX5. Makes sense for him though, for those reasons. Also in response to original post, discovery is approx. twice the price of a D-max, navara etc.?

I've not heard it used in a real-life situation yet, thankfully. Seems to be more of an American thing.

"bae" - moron for "babe". Because that one letter in the middle was SO much effort.

Anyone doing their HMRC self-assessment? And self employed?
samj2013 replied to MattHunt's topic in Off Topic Chat
Phew, thanks! I thought I would've heard something if I needed to do anything. -

samj2013 replied to MattHunt's topic in Off Topic Chat
Do I have to do one? I only set up my self-assessment account in october. I am also employed part time, to confuse matters slightly. -
Seems to have a 4x4 badge on the boot.

Aye, it's to be expected around here though, annoyingly (a5 towards betws y coed on a weekend, lots of old farts about). Luckily I got a few chances to overtake on the way back and almost halved the journey time.
-
Everywhere I went today I got stuck behind the slowest drivers in the world, including a few who needlessly pulled out on me and then decided to drive slowly, and a few of those morons that do 40 in a NSL are, and then 40 in a 30 area. ARGH!! Also had a BMW idiot with his fogs on speed up as I passed him. Lucky it was a long straight and my tdi has a bit of poke.

Is it not based on a car chassis though?
-
Does anybody know if a mk1 kangoo is classed as a car-derived van, and this has car speed limits, or if it's classed as just a van, and is therefore subject to speed restrictions? Thanks
-
Nice, those alloys really suit it.

Rode at Conwy Mountain today - local-ish trails to me. Lovely sunny day, but my god was it windy (and bloody cold wind too).

Serviced the Reverb (what a faff, would've been made much easier if I had a decent vice, mind) and bled the brakes this evening. Think both were well overdue... Yep, that's the old brake fluid.

Oh gotcha, I thought you meant to show the customers...

Why would you want to look at your money inside the machine? Or am I missing something?
