  1. Thanks appreciate the feedback and the code numbers👍 Yes overhaul seems in order. Though dealer has quoted more than the car is worth to do it 😟 I feel 129,000km is far too new for a car to require an engine rebuild, it really has marred my otherwise fantastic experience with the car
  2. I have all 3 of these parts in Amazon (Aftermarket) for $115 Am I missing anything? I just need the car to keep going for another year or so, so aftermarket should do the job?
  3. Hi Briskoda I have a 2012 Super 118Tsi with high oil consumption. Smoke does show from the exhaust when the car is revved high, but for general motoring its fine and runs beautiful Recently the engine light has come on, so after a trip to the dealer for diagnostics and $140 fee later, they have recommended replacing the PCV Valve, the Charcoal canister and Purge Control Valve For this they have quoted around AUD$650 for the PVC Valve, and around $1350 for the Charcoal canister and Purge Control Valve Looking at these, they seem like pretty straight forward replacements for a non-mechanic to perform (I am definitely a non mechanic, but they look simple enough on youtube) They mentioned the parts were $300 for the PVC and $1000 for the Charcoal canister and Purge Control Valve, with 1hr and 1.5hr mechanic install time. The dealer refused to provide the OEM part numbers, as they won't sell the parts alone to the public, even though I paid them for the diagnostics Does this sound about right? $2000 is ALOT to spend now on a 12yr old car that I am looking to replace in the not too distant future Can I clean the PCV? Could I try a wreakers for the parts? Assume these are the 3 parts and their part numbers?
  4. Hello all 2012 Skoda Superb 118TSI Ambition My airconditioner Blower fan recently failed and was replaced with a genuine blower fan by specialist auto airconditioning electrician. After the fan replacement the fan is taking about 2-5min to start after the car starts. When car first starts there is a hiss from the aircon system, then 2-5min delay before blower fan starts, then another 1-2min and another hiss when airconditioner/cooling actually starts. The auto electrician didn't think it was related to what they did (I'm reluctant to take it back to them, as they initially installed an aftermarket fan that didn't actually blow air, and had to remove and replace with the genuine which now blows well) Any suggestions on what could be causing the fan and cooling start up delay? Previously the aircon would start up straight away with the car. Thanks
  5. My blower fan in 2012 118TSI stopped working a few months ago, auto electrician reported no charge across positive and negative terminals so needed a new fan They replaced with an aftermarket passat fan (same part number), buit it didn't blow at all (even though the fan was spinning furiously) Ended up replacing with a genuine and the fan now blows fine My only remaining problem is it now takes 2-5min for the fan to start after starting the car.
  6. Fixed finally by replacing the fan with the genuine Skoda part 3rd party fan was terrible
  7. Replaced with genuine blower fan and now works fine after market Passat fan (same part no), didn’t work well for me
  8. Thanks for the tip, I’ll try that👍 I tried doing the calibration/reset by holding the AC and face buttons but no difference
  9. You can hear the fan blowing furiously when on high, but only faintest whisper of air comes out anywhere Prior to the fan failure and replacement the fan was certainly powerful enough to blow your hair back
  10. Anyone had any experience with no air coming out after replacing the blower fan still? My fan stopped, which I had replaced with a 3rd party Passat blower by an auto electrician/air con specialist You can now hear the fan blasting away, but still no air coming out The technician has said it could be a blend door actuator or other flap problem that may need the dash removed to diagnose/repair, at a ~$1500 cost... If anyone has any experience to share or similar it would be appreciated Thanks!
  11. Hello Superb people The fan in my 2012 Superb Ambition 118TSI air conditioner (Climatronic dual zone) stopped blowing (no sound no air) My local auto electrician/aircon specialist couldn't source a genuine Skoda part so they replaced the blower with a 3rd Party Passat blower fan The fan is now working (you can hear it blowing away furiously) but no air comes through the vents (no air either for hot or cold) The auto electrician is at a loss but thinks it may now be an issue with the blend door or other flap actuator? They have suggested it may be a $1500 fix needing to take the dash off.. Has anyone had this issue before? Is a multi part failure common? (blower Fan and blend door or other flap actuators?) Does the dash need to be remove to service the system? Just want to see if this sounds legit or if I should get a 2nd opinion? Located in Brisbane Australia. Thanks
