  1. Having been on the Skoda configurator for FL vRS, I am unable to choose Alcantra as an option. Am I correct in assuming that the vRS comes with Alcantra? On the configurator summary of all the equipment it does say "seat trim covers in fabric and Alcantra".
  2. I am looking at PCH this time as I look to replace 14 plate vRS with 2017 FL vRS. PCP coming to an end in November. Looking to place order around May time. Has anyone purchased via PCH and has anyone used a 3rd party leasing firm that they can recommend. Haven't approached Skoda dealer yet, but a quick search on the web shows some good deals where monthly cost coming in les than what I am currently paying.
  3. I simply searched the radio stations I wanted on the internet and then copied the logos on to a USB and then updated Bolero that way.
  4. Further article on the FL vRS on NetCarShow.com: https://www.netcarshow.com/skoda/2017-octavia_rs/ Just doesn't look different enough to me from my current vRS, which will be replaced in 2017. I was really hoping for something different from the vRS from a styling front but fails to deliver in my opinion .Really like the car and was set on replacing with another vRS but a DSG, but will wait on price announcement and if any offers available from Skoda UK, like the previous 0% and 3 years free servicing.
  5. I'll vouch for this scraper. Second winter it has been used now and really effective, best product so far. I have also used the Iceplane and was not as effective in my opinion. I do however apply the night before a Halfords own brand "Night Before De-icer" which reduces the effort needed the next morning to scrape the ice off.
  6. Just replaced the factory fitted Bridgestone Potenza's on the front of my vRS TSI hatch with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's. Had the pair of Goodyears fitted to the rear and the existing rears fitted to the front as they still had some wear left. Did some research on the Goodyears and they were also recommended on these forums. Initially difficiult to source the Goodyears, with most retailers quoting over a weeks wait including my local Skoda dealer. Eventually found it available at a Formula 1 tyre centre as I could not wiat as the front tyres were at their legal minimum. I am not a professional driver or sort, but noticed a tangible difference with the new tyres, in that the ride was quieter and the overll ride felt noticeably better. Progressive breaking also felt smoother! I cant wait to replace the front tyres with the Goodyears also,
  7. Thanks all for your advice. I have managed to find a tyre fitter, F1 Autocentre, who will have the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 for tomorrow. Lets just hope they are good for their word. Local Skoda dealer could have got the tyres but would have had to wait over a week. Their price was a couple of quid cheaper than the F! Autocentre, which I was pleasantly surprised at.
  8. My 2014 vRS TSI is in urgent need of new front tyres. Owned from new since may 2014 and covered approx. 15k miles, on mainly London urban and A roads. Having reviewed the the forums it appears that a popular choice is the Goodyear Eagle F1 Aysmmetric 3, but my tyre dealers cannot get their hands on this tyre and its on back order from their suppliers. They have suggested as an alternative the Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance. Has anyone got any experience or feedback on the Efficientgrip Performance tyres or suggest any alternatives that you can recommend for replacing the current fitted Bridgestone Potenza's, or should I wait for the Eagle Aysmmetric and drive very carefully in the meantume! Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  9. This has just started to happen to me on my 2014 vRS in the past few weeks. If it is due to the cold weather then it didn't happen last winter and its only happening intermittently. Very annoying to look in the rear view mirror and see the wiper in the vertical position when it should have swept the screen once and returned to its original position have only flicked the wiper stalk once.Planning to have it looked at the next service in May.
  10. I also faced this issue where fairly regularly I was flashed at. Go to a point I thought there was an issue with the headlight beam / level and booked the car in with the dealer. As soon as I got to the dealer, he said that they were aware of similar inquiries and that there was no issue apart from the fact the Xenons were indeed very bright and gave the effect to oncoming vehicles that I had my main beam on. The vehicle light settings were checked and all was OK. Just got to accept that the Octavia has very bright and broad beam but all legal!
  11. The scratches are not deep, but clearly visible in the sunlight and luckily on the passengers side. I have no desire to try and polish them out using any DIY methods, as I will probably make it worse. I think I will revert to the warm water method, which I resisted doing so on the Skoda, thinking the quality of materials may lead to some sort of damage on the glass or seals. I had been doing this on my previous vehicle, a Toyota Avensis on hard frost days without any issues. Thank you all for the various suggestions and tips.
  12. Gutted to notice numerous scratches on the windscreen of my 7 month old vRS. I can only put it down to the ice scraper used a couple of weeks ago to clear a frosty windscreen. I had been using the "Ice Plane" scraper for a couple of years now and had no problems on my previous vehicle, a Toyota Avenis. Just wondering whether there us any repair solution for the windscreen, short of replacing it? Has anyone else experienced such issues. Could it be down to the overall quality of the glass maybe? I have used the Skoda supplied ice scraper but find it uncomfortable to hold so have resorted to purchasing another off Amazon and will ensue that I start using the Night Before De- Icer to minimise ice on the windscreen.
  13. Not sue if I should be concerned but I have noticed that there is a lot of warm air coming in only from the drivers, right side air vent whilst driving. The heater / air con is off and do not get war air coming in to the cabin from the other air vents. Clearly it must be the heat from the engine bay, but is this normal? The car is a 5 month old vRS petrol TSI with only 3800 miles. Interested to hear if others are experiencing this issue.
  14. £418 through Aviva with £350 XS, enhanced courtesy car and protected NCD for single driver aged 49 in North London.
  15. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/296662-post-your-mk3-octavia-photos/?p=3774432 Despite best efforts to capture the Metal Grey colour, I must say and what other members have said is that the colour looks so much better in the flesh. I have been very nervous following previous posts where people have commented about hints of green or blue in the colour, but having now collected the car, all my fears have gone and really loving the colour. Only done 150 miles since collection (5 days ago) and really enjoying it. My only little issue is that I am sure I am experiencing the boom / resonance that has been well documented on another thread. Clearly sounds like when driving with a rear window open a little and where all the other windows are shut. Still early days with the car and need to put more mileage on before I consider a trip back to the dealers.
  16. Originally ordered Race Blue but changed to Metal Grey once it was available. The dealer eventually manged to put through the change in colour mid Feb. I couldn't attach the photos as it kept saying they were bigger than 2mb!
  17. Finally arrived after 5 months from order: VRS TSI hatch in Metal Grey: http://s1273.photobucket.com/user/mohamedmohideen1/library/ Not sure if I have loaded photos correctly though. Hope it works.
  18. Just received item from ebay seller. Ordered in anticipation of VRS delivery in a couple of weeks time. Small price to pay for a classy key fob. Just need buy the T6 torx bit to fit.
  19. Yes it's KDS who I have in mind, although not booked in yet. Thanks also Gizmo for the recommendation. AnthonyDi, how long did KDS advise it would take for your car to be treated. I assume from their web site it may take two days?
  20. With the arrival of my vRS TSI hatch in Metal Grey now due in the next couple of weeks, I was looking to have the new car detailing protection done by a professional detailer and not the dealers. Has any one else had this done on their new vehicle? My concern is that having the protection done, how easy is it afterwards to keep the car clean in that do I need wash the car by hand, where as now, I take a quick trip to the local car wash and its jet washed by an army of people and job done! I have found a firm in Gillingham, Kent as there is no one it appears locally that does the new car protection. I am considering the GTechnic Protection detail, although ,more expensive appears to be a better quality and last longer. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  21. Finally received confirmation from that BW 16 has now been confirmed. For the past month the dealer had stated provisional BW of 15, whilst SUK have said provisional BW of 16. Both parties have now confirmed this week that BW 16 is confirmed at the factory. Order placed on the 18th December for the following: VRS TSI manual hatch in Metal Grey. Options: Spare wheel Colour Maxidot Canton Black Pack SUK have advised to expect delivery in 3 and a half weeks from the end of BW 16. So that means expect collection sometime w/c 19th May.
  22. Thanks Gabbo for the posting the photos. I have long been waiting to see the VRS in Metal Grey and your photos have confirmed my choice of colour was the right one. I am waiting on a hatch with black pack and anthracite wheels so really excited to see what this combination will look like. Enjoy your new car. Very jealous!
  23. E-mail received from dealer to confirm factory have accepted order and BW 15 confirmed for my VRS TSI hatch in metal grey. Order placed 18th December. Anticipate delivery by mid May assuming no slippage to BW or any other issues.
  24. Mr G, sorry to get your hopes up re delivery times! My initial order for a VRS petrol, manual hatch was on the 18th Dec. Since then BW has gone from w12, 21 and now18. A bit of a lottery really with build dates until final confirmation received.
  25. The photos from 030 are probably the best images of the Metal Grey I have seen so far and really liking it. My dilemma for a while has been whether I stick with the Gemini anthracite wheels or change to the Gemini silver? Just worried that the anthracite together with the Metal Grey might be too grey overall. The dealer only in fact confirmed on the 18th Feb that my request to change to Metal Grey from Race Blue had been accepted on the order system, having made the initial request on the 14th Jan! Provisional build date of w18 confirmed but hoping for it to move forward. Members thoughts on the wheel colour options would be welcome to help me make up my mind.
