Brake holding when at the lights?
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
As someone who's never used it, it's taken me 3 days to even know it was there so don't worry about it causing issues for you (in my view anyway). Since i noticed it I've relaxed how quickly I go from brake to accelerator at lights and junctions, thumbs up from me. -
Ive read the manual and can't find anything but I've noticed that if at the lights with foot on the brake,, when I take it off it holds on its own for half a second or so and then the car rolls back. Is this some form of electronic assist to prevent roll backs and assist at junctions/lights. Quite like the feature if I'm honest.

Corrida red vRS. Picked her up today!
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Thanks. Not what the sunset glass is but if you're referring to the rear windows which are tinted that's what ever the option is from skoda (not sure if it's under The black pack or as well as). -
Using mine today. Cloth seats. Just wearing a pair of jeans and level 3 is too hot. 1 is what i would expect medium to be maybe.

Got my new meteor grey VRS today.

Very nice. Usually I hate grey/silver and find it boring but this looks immense -
Travel mode. Left or right?
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Wonder why it was set to right then. I've changed it over and the message has gone now. Thanks -
No such thing as a daft question I was always told.... When I turn the car on it mentions that headlight adjusted for driving on the right. Well, we drive on the left (uk) so shouldn't this be the other way around. Or is it because the car is right hand drive? *awaits barrage of abuse* haha

After only 8 days from order to pick up (the car was for sale in the dealership as the intended owner had to cancel the purchase due to splitting with his mrs) I finally have my diesel manual vRS at home. This being the first brand new car me or the other half have owned, It was a real experience which I wont ever forget. We traded in our 1.2 petrol 09 corsa which despite my constant complaints of it being under powered, I was quite sad to see go. Got to the dealership for 09:30am and left at around 10:20am having finished off all the paper work and run through. What really made a difference to me was the fact the dealer had put a cover on the car to whip off after the paper work to give the TA DAAAAAAAAAA type moment. Even though we had seen the car the week prior I could not stop smiling, this was awesome! After a quick run through some of the important functions the dealer handed over to us. Managed to put on 70 miles or so today showing family the car. Even in such short mileage I am already in love with the car. The power is awesome, the gear box is very smooth and the car is so comfortable. Id say even though the diesel is down on power from the petrol, I cant say I'm wanting any more power than it has. It is just awesome. Here are a few pictures I've taken. Cant wait to get up tomorrow and go for another drive.- 22 replies

How to make the most of the 3 trips?
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I haven't quite seen it on the trips yet as I was overwhelmed by the rest of the car to actually dig the manual out or get time to come on the forums. I did assume that each trip provided the breakdown of measurements such as the mpg, speed etc. Thanks. -

Spot on, thanks. Sorry for the terms I used, not a clue what I plucked those from.... cheers -

Thanks. I'm amazed how quick it was to set up the one phone to be fair so it isn't an issue with it only pairing with the one at a time. -
How to make the most of the 3 trips?
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Ok so ive managed to do a bit more reading. I've found out that the daily trip one (short term) is reset after 2 hours without driving and the others are controlled by either refuelling or by resetting or exceeding 9999 miles. -

Is that what you do if you are both in the car? I'm assuming if you get in the car on your own that it automatically pairs with yours? -
Me and the other half will both be connecting our phones to the Octavia via blue tooth. How does it work when we are both in the car? If I have paired my phone when my key is in the ignition and hers when her key is in the ignition will the car know this and provide pair priority depending on which key is used? If not what are the work arounds? Thanks

Just wondered what the best way to utilise the 3 trips on the Octavia is. I have only just picked my car up today and it had about 1/4 tank in it so I've not touched any of the trips. Ideally what I want the trips to do is: Long term - as it sounds. Don't want to touch this until it gets to 9999 and I know it auto-resets. Since refuel - I 99% likely fill up when near empty, so I'm assuming putting a full tank in will automatically reset this trip?? Short term - I'd like this to be literally every time I take the key out to reset, on its own. Is this possible? So I drive 15 mins down the road, do some shopping and getting back in. I want the short trip to then start from scratch again on its own. Is this possible? Is this default settings? If I'm honest I couldn't figure out how to change between the trips but I've had a look at the manual and can see how to do so but I just want the above to be clarified. Many thanks Luke

Is it just a case of a straight swap when it comes the speakers when changing them? -
Roof bar recommendations
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Thanks for the suggestions. I realised after posting but don't think I'll be needing them any time soon given the size of the boot but for bike racks it's a must -
Never purchased or used roof bars before but as of Tuesday when I get my hatch I'm wondering what roof bars I should go for. Can you really go wrong with any? What sizes would I need? Thanks

Pay a little more.....get a LOT more. Change of car.
Lamboluke replied to Lamboluke's topic in General Automotive Chat
Agreed that the balloon payment is the killer but as someone said. No way I'd be able to this car without pcp. Depends how you see the world financially. I don't like having debts and thankfully other than a mortgage (which I don't really see as a debt) so to have a car on pcp to me is like renting it with the option to buy, swap or trade. -
Phoned admiral earlier and got through to their Canadian call centre which is entertaining in itself...I had a bad experience with my previous insurance company when buying a new car mid term. Admiral have changed the policy over as of 28/01 and advised I am covered on the current car until I lock it up and put the key in the new car and drive away. Much more flexible than having a set time and uncertainty of having to phone when at the dealership and sort it out there and then. Any other good/bad experiences?
