Mechanic/garage recommendations for Suffolk?
whitep replied to Jimmydavies's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
There is one in Earls colne, Gages garage, and one in Colchester - Marks Tey called John Austin, the garages who cant solve problems speak to them... -
I have a PD170 with an 'upgraded' DPF, its not straight through but the empty box sounds like the turbo is on its way out all the time. I wish I had a pipe that went straight through the box.

Hi All, Anyone know where the fuel temperature sensor is located on the PD170 VRS?
-
Hi All, I might need to get 2 new headlight washer caps sprayed for my car and while I am at it I might get my grille sprayed. Problem is the local bodyshops want literally £x00 to do this. Im no good with a can myself. Does anyone know of anyone, doesnt have to be a bodyshop, who would do this for realistic amounts? My car is metallic black in colour so a fairly common colour right?

Adjust rear cam timing on PD170
whitep replied to whitep's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Fuel filter in, still hesitant so no fix there. I think it might be a bit less laggy at low revs, so maybe a bit better. This might be a placebo affect. I have noticed overfuelling type smoke when I pull away once or twice as a note. I still think the car is better when cold, so temperature sensor is ordered and coolant is got. I will see if I can find the sensor and swap it, I know its a 2 minute job. I am worrying that it might be an injector now although the idle stabilization shows now alarming fugures. The cable loom to the plug at the side of the engien hasnt been changed yet so this could still be the culprit. -

Adjust rear cam timing on PD170

OK thanks Radders. I will look at both. Where is the temp sensor? The radiator or in the block like the older engines? -
Tyre pressure, an obvious one but....

Adjust rear cam timing on PD170
whitep replied to whitep's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have not felt it myself, but as the turbo is 6 months old, I guess it should be OK. I will have a feel when I do the filter. The car was remapped when I had the DPF erm upgraded, I had the map checked by a second company when I had problems way back then. I have the EGR blanked so shuold this be a problem still? I have not replaced the coolant temperature All the temperatures on VCDS read OK but I am happy to do so regardless. Which one, where? I did the sensors on my old non PD engines but not sure were it is on this one. Is it as easy as the non PD? If so I will go get one at lunchtime. Im sure SEAT will have them as an on the shelf item. The leon FR is a PD170 right? -

Adjust rear cam timing on PD170
whitep replied to whitep's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Just to update, I fine tuned the Torsion back to -.35 tickover then when under load it goes to 0.0, rhich I figured it about as good as I will get. The fuel filter however was the wrong one... thanks Eurocarparts! Anyway I will fit the new one in the next day or so. Th ecar definitley has a flas spot, when you throttle it like the boost builds in an exponential curve, its nothing... nothing... whoosh. Anyway might still be fuel filter the one in there is black and the fuel is a bit sooty at the bottom of the filter housing. -
Well you have the RNS510 but my VRS has the Nexus which is the MFD2, this is perfectly suitable for what I want. I think there are battery drain issues with the newer RNS510

Adjust rear cam timing on PD170
whitep replied to whitep's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
OK Radders will do shopping at lunchtime. I plugged VCDs into the car this morning and the Torsion value is now -1.84 which is rather annoying and the consumption is 4.17 so the front is more out than it was! I was thinking everyone is banging on about using pins to do the timing, as dis the garage, but I guess you still need to fine tune it to get the torsion value as close to 0 as possible? I am used to fine tuning the timing on the single cam PD lumps can I do my front cam without using a pin if I use a feather touch? -
Painted grilles are so sexy, but mine is wrapped.

Right the car is back to driving OK again, no hiccups yet. But..... When I pull away from lights the car feels flat then its off and wheelspinning everywhere. The guy in the garage has checked and monitored a few bits and pieces and says his feeling is that everythign is working, the turbo is operating and the intake is getting ready to go but the fuelling isnt there. I need to drive it a bit to make sure this is the problem, but I will post back. I was thinking maybe the fuel pickup may be clogged but then at high revs I would feel the power dip and it would flag an error? -

While it annoys me that the driver skipped paying the fees, the ANPR will have a record of his plate and I am sure and hope they will catch up with him, but I do also think it is a complete rip off that you have to pay to drop off or pick up a passenger. You pay enough for the tickets! What are the airports trying to stop by charging such crazy rates? £2 per minute at Stanstead after the initial time expires. -
Adjust rear cam timing on PD170
whitep replied to whitep's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Picking it up later, the garage are just going to go over it all again to double check. Aparrently it feels a bit flat but they havent taken it for a good road test yet. Once I get it I will report back. -
