boost gauge through the bulkhead
nitrovrs replied to skyeskodavrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
A bit awkward but doable. Need to remove the glove box. And yes it's behind the tray a bit but not too bad once you get in there. -
25 or 28mm RARB, opinions and options?
nitrovrs replied to yesiamtom's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
You need a bigger arb on the back so as you have a 25mm front i would say the 28mm rear. I had golf r32 23mm front and neuspeed 28mm rear. Handling was greatly improved. Arb's will not affect ride (thats springs and shocks), they reduce body roll. -

I used the existing grommet behind the pollen filter tray under the scuttle trim. -
Is my brake switch faulty? No brake lights at all!
nitrovrs replied to Haych123's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Really.... a brake switch cheaper than a map..! Who'd of thought Yes, the switch should fix the problem. Mapping will remove the 'feature' and was for info only -

It's not boost cutting as such, it's the throttle that's cutting out. Drive by wire cars have a safety feature by where if accelerator and brake pedal are pressed at the same time (or duff brake switch), the car will kill the throttle as it's safer to slow down than drive flat chat into the car in front/tree/house etc. This feature can be mapped out by the way -

Which will fit to my newly built bottom end with uprated crank, rods, pistons, acl bearings, girdled block.... Which mates up to.... tell ya later -
VRS Clutch replacement DIY - any tips ?
nitrovrs replied to Jules59's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Flywheel will only fit on one way as the mounting holes are not evenly spaced. And as mentioned the 'box is (insert expletive) heavy. -
Translation???

Doesn't say which coating it was, doesn't say if it was applied properly and no idea what the paint was like before it was dipped. I will carry on dipping

Recomendations for modified car insurance
nitrovrs replied to willy0329's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Not just me then...! -
I changed mine to poly when fitting the 'quick rack' so couldn't say if it was this that made the difference but steering is very tight and responsive now.
-
Is it all gears? Reverse usually (but not always) plays up first if it's the cables.
-
So you've never removed it? Was it genuine plasti-dip? applied properly? to sound original paintwork? I have done and seen loads of removals with no problems.
-
or plasti dip the bonnet
-
And you're in the perfect place to go and see Ben at Shark performance (Mansfield).

Another vote for porsche setup here due the the sheer weight of the VAG manhole covers...!!!

there's three bolts, one directly above the pedal and is a (insert expletive of choice) to get at. iirc the spring assy comes out with the assembly and can be easily removed with pedal in the 'down' position. disconnecting the master cylinder is via 2 plastic 'tangs' on either side of the plunger. hth J.

You can change the pipe seals separately, not necessarily pipe change.
