  1. Verds Vorti every time, they are outstanding.
  2. Well, where do I start?! Firstly, Corten-Miller offer an absolutely fantastic service and experience. I was greated at reception by name, with a brew and the options were discussed and then the technician explained exactly what they were going to do to the car and what I could expect. I was then shown to the leather armchairs in the waiting room, given the Wi-Fi access code and the TV remote. About 2.5hrs later the technician returned and explained how things went, what the results were and what the numbers meant. So, on the 5th power run the car was absolutely bang on 170hp and was making 269 lbs/ft of torque. Book figures are 167hp and 258 lbs/ft. The car is totally standard including panel filter, EGR etc. After the custom remap it made 199.5hp and 312 lbs/ft. The operator flashed a Revo map into the ECU from a stock database and it made 197.4hp and 309 lbs/ft. Needless to say i stuck with the custom map. I know we have all seen higher power figures but as we all know it depends on the dyno used. I dare say if I went to my other local tuner it would make 210hp+ as his dyno is renowned for running high figures. For me it's not about figures, it's about air/fuel mixture and how it drives. The car now drives so much smoother and feels easier to drive. On a spirited run it pulls right through the rev range and almost feels like a standard petrol vRS. It's too early to tell you if the MPG has improved as I've not exactly been hanging around but the technician said, from previous experience, vRS owners have seen approx 50 to 60 extra miles per full tank. That'll do for me! Here's the graph:
  3. It's not "very" rare in the later FL models but can be in earlier ones. The blackline range came with leather as standard.
  4. I'm currently at Corten-Miller in Lincolnshire having the vRS remapped. Looking forward to the results.
  5. Couldn't agree more. Everytime i do any work on my car i replace the crap torx headed bolts with some A2 stainless cap screws or whatever is required. OK i'm sure i'm adding weight to the car but it's not going to be much!!!
  6. As all of the above really. You won't be disapointed with a Mk2 FL. I recently moved over from a BM to a vRS tdi. It's very hard not to compare the two but I can hand on heart say the vRS isn't a BM and cannot match the BM for drivability and build quality but there's not much in it. That said, the skoda is a damned site cheaper. r Kit wise the skoda comes very well kitted out and has all the knobs and dials that the BM has minus a few things i wish the car had. I miss the auto wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror and auto lights that the BM had as standard. There is the odd rattle here and there with the vRS but these seem to be common accros the whole MK2 FL range. Handling wise, the vRS is so much easier to drive quickly but it does lack the punch that the BM had (again, it will do as it's a whole 1000cc smaller). I certainly don't regret buying the MK2 vRS, I test drove a MK3 at the same time and opted for the former.
  7. Just given my car a bloody good clean, polish and fluids check etc ready for it's remap at Corten-Miller tomorrow morning. All my previous cars have been mapped / tuned and I always knew I'd be getting this vRS done. I've had the car since February and have purposely put off having it mapped as i wanted to really get used to the car to see the differences / benefits between standard / mapped. I was in numerous minds of where to go but seeing as Corten-Miller have done all my previous cars, with very impressive results and service, I've gone with them again, and they are also a Revo authorised dealer. It's just going to be a stage 1 at the min as I'm trying to keep the car as OEM as poss, unlike all my previous vehicles! I'll obviously keep you posted with the graphs and stuff. http://www.corten-miller.co.uk/
  8. Yes it's an FL (Face lift) The standard wheel bolts are: M14 x 1.5 x 27 radius head. M14 being the thread diameter, 1.5 being the thread pitch and 27 being the bolt length in mm. They use a 17mm hexagonal head, so 17mm spanner / socket.
  9. What car is it on? If it's a FL Octavia then they're 17mm
  10. I'm getting my car remapped very soon but cannot decide where to go for the best results. The car is a 2010 vRS TDi FL CR170 (try saying that with a mouth full of dry toast!!) Shark at Mansfield aren't too far away, P-Torque nr Birmingham have done work for me in the past, but my closest (reputable) tuner is Corten-Miller near Skegness who have done a lot of dyno tuning on my previous cars in the past. I've got a bit of allegiance to them but am open to suggestions. I don't mind travelling but don't fancy going much further than 100 miles of the Humber. Where do you recommend and why?
  11. All sorted now thanks chaps, is was indeed the crap cheap spacers. Fitted some hubcentric ones now and they feel true and straight. However, the spigot on the FL vRS 170 CR is longer than the internal depth of the spacer so I had to cut / machine the spigot down by 5mm. This hasn't affected anything on the car and is easy enough to do with a dremmel.
  12. The above is correct, it drains to the floor not back to the tank.
  13. I've got a bury handsfree in mine and am thinking of fitting a OEM blutooth. I've got a Columbus with satnav etc but as the car is 2010 I don't think it has maxidot, it's on the older OBC. Can you fit OEM blutooth without a Multi function steering wheel?
  14. No, they're just cheap universal type ones. It had crossed my mind but I didn't want to suggest it as I wanted to see other's views.
  15. Last week I fitted brand new pagid discs and pads to my 2010 FL vRS CR, also fitted Brembo 4 pot calipers. Everything went swimmingly and there were no issues at all during fitting. I've fitted dozens of discs and pads in the pads so am 100% confident I've done them right. The discs aren't binding with the calipers at all and nothing is rubbing or causing unrequired friction. Due to the car being on Neptune alloys the calipers don't fit behind the wheels so I fitted 10mm spacers, this gave the required clearance. Today was the first time I've had chance to give it some berries after fitting and bedding in the pads etc. The brakes are fantastic and there are no pulses through the brake pedal under light, moderate or heavy braking. However, I noticed that there was a slight vibration at around 60mph that got a but heavier at 70mph. When under heavy acceleration in 4th from 60+ the vibration is really noticeable but if you lift the throttle it almost disappears. At around 80mph in 4th the vibration is really bad. Bad enough that I didn't dare push through it to see if it would clear. I've checked all the wheel weights and haven't lost any. The tyres are only a month or so old and there weren't any vibrations before. The wheels are torqued up correctly and none of the bolts are loose. Suggestions on a postcard please!!! :S
  16. As with any car I always think there a re a few things that could have been done better right from the off. The question could be; What annoys you about your car? What would you change about your car?..................etc Personally, the one thing that really winds me up with my 2010 Octavia vRS is the clocks are illuminated a different colour from the rest of the controls. I suspect everyone else's vehicle is the same but why have they illuminated the dials and maxidot in a subtle white / grey but then illuminated everything else green?!! It would look far better if all were the same colour as the clocks.
  17. They certainly are mate. I've know him a good decade and a half but can't go for a quiet beer with him anywhere without him getting noticed. Richard Britton was the greatest racer I ever met / raced against. A genuine nice bloke and a great laugh.
  18. I'll be at the TT in a couple of weeks but only in jeans and t-shirt! Maybe the Ulster and skerries later in the year. Yourself?
  19. I've been following this thread for a while now and it's interesting to see what bikes folks have got or previously had. Some crackers on here. Well, I've been riding for about 30 years or so, started with a Yam YZ50 on my Grandad's farm and that lead me into riding junior moto-x around the country. At 16 passed my part 1 and pretty much gave up off-road for the love of my AR50. That lead into short track road racing, which then lead into proper road racing till late 2006 when I had a season out through injury. The finances ran dry and that was pretty much the end of my racing days. Still got my race bike tucked away in the garage. It's got a daylight MOT on it so it comes out every now and then but due to being a race bike the police take too much interest in it!!!! Here's a bit of a biking list: Yamaha YZ50 Yamaha YZ80 Yamaha YZ125 Yamaha YZ250 Kawasaki KX250 Kawasaki AR50 Kawasaki AR80 Suzuki RGV250 Kawasaki KR1S Suzuki RGV250 - Race Honda RS125 - Race Honda RS250 - Race Kawasaki ZXR400 - Race Honda CBR600f - Race Kawasaki ZX600R f3 - Race Kawasaki ZX7RR - Race Suzuki GSXR750 srad - Race Yamaha R1 - Race Suzuki GSXR1000 K1 - Race Suzuki GSXR1000 K2 - Race and the final one, which is still in my garage: Suzuki GSXR1000 K4. Ex-Uel Duncan Racing. Owned and ridden by Guy Martin in the 2004 Irish Road Racing series, 2004 Isle of Man TT (7th in the senior & Fastest Newcomer) This is the bike, but it's certainly not me!!
  20. Still for sale and yes, it's a simple as that!
  21. Sorry to jump in on a thread, I've got a bolero for sale for £180 posted to UK mainland. There's a thread on here.
