  1. Still think its Fab and they should bring it out as the Rapid or RAPIDE as some used to say but were wrong
  2. yes mate - not worth the gamble- go to Jabba in Peterborough spend your extra cash but come back with peace of mind that its done well. Mention Briskoda - you might get 10% off. If something is too good to be true then it invariably isn't good.
  3. Yeah hit a pheasant and it broke the inner headlamp leveling clip joined to the screw by a ball joint - so i tried gluing it- difnt work - then wrapped wire round it - hoorah saved £80 quid for new light. Im so glad i bought those 35quid headlamp protectors too
  4. I think this looks great. I loved the skoda Tudor and this one is fab. It looks like a fabia front and new a3 backside - Im lovin it........... http://www.briskoda.net/photoplog/index.php?n=134 Is this photoshopped?:P:P:P
  5. Ive just started bodging my car to save cash! Id better stop now before I bodge something that little bit too much and it ends up knackering something else!
  6. Mondeo can be a hatchback and thats very useful - thats why I went for an octy not a superb. I looked at a mondeo- my mate had one and said it was the best car he ever owned. I agree with ric04VRS above, but am I right in saying the Superb needs a cambelt which will set you back £300 incl labour whereas the mondeo has a timing chain....... I could be wrong
  7. My missus has a lovely 1998 1.8s MX5 in BRG. I drive it whenever I get the chance! A:) It is great to drive B:) It is underpowered C:) Fat blokes need not apply D:) I do feel like a girl in it On the plus side lots of girls like it too, and you do turn heads - especially when its washed and gleaming. My advice- buy a Honda s2000 make sure it fits you as the one I tried had seats that didn't move much. or, save for a 2nd hand boxter or even cheaper a mercedes SLK with hardtop (again a bit girlie)
  8. It was just the bloke down the pub who told me, god knows if it's true! The bloke in the chequered shirt with the pint of John Smiths who normally discusses test match cricket and draught excluder. Anyone else know the troof?
  9. On a truthful note, I took a lotta C**p from other kids at school. My Dad had an Estelle 120LSE in lovely ice blue with a vinyl roof twin headlamps - twin webber carbs and it went easily over a ton. I loved the little car but I took a hell of a lotta s##te from other kids who's dads had company cars or were were well off etc..... I even made my Dad drop me off down the road so no-one would see me at school. It must have made my Dad a little p'd off but he didnt understand the c*ap I went through. After all, it was a great car, quite big inside and NEVER let us down. Many years later: My Dad couldnt believe it when I bought my Octavia and now I realise now what a load of brainstarved idiots there were out there. It's that same stupid mentality that exists in this country, Designer labels at 200 quid for a pair of jeans, BMW's bought only for their badge and the final straw - That Top gear cool wall dissing the Fabia VRs and the two idiots they spoke to- the last thing it needed.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I hope to god your kids never go through what I did......it sucked.
  10. According to a bloke down the pub: Apparently all the Tdi and Tdi Pd engines for VAG in are made in the same plant-in Czechland . I heard they run each engine for a period and test the bhp and smoothness of the engines(obviously there will be slight descrepencies between engines.) Apparently allegedly, Audi get the very top runners / Vw's the next and Skoda/Seats get to fight for the rest (lower powered standard units) I say this as my Octy Tdi sounds like a bag of spanners when it starts up and yet my mates A3 sounds like a bag of slightly quieter spanners. Someone somewhere knows the truth or should I refer it to Mouldy and Sculler?
  11. Hey Monkey Rover 2.0 litre ( moderate driving) 3 head gaskets in 4 years! Good old british quality. Screw skoda jokes
  12. If you get p##sed off by tailgaters, wash your windscreen regularly they get fed up with having to do their wipers and usually back off. But dont- repeat DONT!!! try these as they are illegal: - Hooking up your brake lights to a switch on your dash. - Hooking up a windscreen wiper pump to your exhaust manifold with a resevoir of Redex to make a great smokescreen effect. -Alternatively carry two large bouncer types with you at all times - Put down the rear windows and get them to put their burly tatooed arms out the car - Very few tailgaters will worry you - Even better, Ignore them! I think it has a lot to do with the car--- Its a psychological thing as "The Ors" says.
  13. Have you ever tried one of those race day experiences. Did it last year at Silverstone in Audi TT 3.2V6 and Lotus Elise. The truth is you dont get long - about 8 laps max - but the ride with the instructor/race driver is mental. It cost
  14. Inspired by the late great Richard Whiteley and not having very much to occupy me I sat on the M27 and started to make car anagrams. Theres: Demon Frodo (ford mondeo) Aero gunk talon (renault kangoo) Berths rope cox ( porsche boxter) and my fave: A far seas terrorist ( ferrari testarossa) Unfortunately all I could get for my car was "Tas, I av a od cok" Got any of your own?
  15. Thanks for all your comments - a great help. My dial turns to the big spot - leaves 2 inches of glass.. Im thinking of giving it a bit more to try to see if it will open it fully but dont want the expense of breaking the damn thing! Cheers and thanx for all your help:)
  16. Just a quick one Octavia elegance tdi 2002 sunroof - When sliding open, is it meant to slide fully back into the roof or does it slide back and leave about 2 inches of glass showing. Just wondered as mine has always just left a couple of inches sticking out. Ive had other electric sunfroofs on cars and they have gone right the way back leaving the whole hole open....... Anyone got a octy electric sunroof - so they can tell me what their octy roof does ta much appreciated.
  17. I know what your talking about. Going along Dual carriageway Near Hemel Hempstead- layby on the left - food van etc+ AMV8 in gun metal grey stationery with guy in it. Went past at 75-80 - still have this layby on my left. All of a sudden - Thunder in the backgroud- **** whats that? Aston comes along the layby easily doing a ton straight out ahead of me on the left and into the wild blue yonder never to be seen. I'm wondering whether its David Jason as ive heard he lives round these ere parts I have seen one cutting up and overtaking - its a whole new world.... If only I had a few million to A- buy it, B- insure it C- run it.:)
  18. Just seen this EOS thing by VW. It's a 4 seater cabrio with hard top and looks not too bad. Currently I have an MX5 as a bit of fun and this might be a good alternative if: A: My ship comes in B: We decide to have sprogs C: We wait 3 years for price to drop :rolleyes:Anyone else got opinions (about the EOS) Looks good roof down - bit naff roof up
  19. I think the Tudor is and awesome model in its looks- come on VAG give us the Tudor.
  20. I have tried it with no noticeable difference. I stick to Tesco fuel as its 3 miles away and every time I fill up 38 quid goes onto my clubcard for vouchers/airmiles.
  21. I took a lift in Fiat turbo ie (i think it was) in beautiful turquiose green with go faster stripes (those were the days)... would have felt safer in the back of a scaffolding van........ended up with the driver going straight over a country crossroads in convoy on the way to a footy match - Very scary....glad to never go in another one, but seemed to hold the road like a dream - a nutty car...glad to be alive after the experience. Oh yeah, Maestro, Sometimes go up to Gaydon where you can research the wonders of British Leyland/Austin etc - The maestro was a surprisingly fast car (im surprised you managed to find an example) Had dealings with one in 1988 complete with a little voice that told me to put my seatbelt on and top up fuel. A great crap car! :)
