  1. Many many thanks for the replies and advice on here today guys, it's really appreciated. Not to mention the offer of practical help from Richf. My neighbour who works at Aston Martin came home in the afternoon and offered his advice, which was exactly the same as yours..try polishing out, as the scratches weren't that deep. So this afternoon we knuckled down with the dual action polisher and have brought all the scratches out on the bonnet and f/o/s wing panels. To say i'm relieved is an understatement, I did have concerns over the paint match particularly over such a large and prominent area of the car. Once again, many thanks for all of your quick and helpful replies
  2. Orville you are quite right and exactly what my mrs said…even a broken clock can be right twice a day :peek: But yes I believe he is registered and in fairness seems a decent bloke. If it is down to the primer, what colour should I expect to see underneath? I shall try and upload some photos
  3. I had just finished washing my race blue mk3 vas this morning when my window cleaner showed up, and after a brief chat while he cleaned my front windows he went to move his stuff down my drive into my rear garden... While I was applying tyre gel to my f/n/s wheel I heard a light banging and scraping sound, I stood up to see him feeding his hose reel over my bonnet while he was stood in the back garden!! The grit and dirt on the hose line has caused numerous scratches up my bonnet and f/o/s wing and needless to say I immediately alerted him to the fact…..!! I am grateful at least that I witnessed this careless act, had I been inside and come out to find it later I would have been struggling to prove it was his hose line that caused it. I've got some photos of the damage and also importantly the position of his hose reel at the back of his van which shows the line coming from it and running directly in line to my bonnet towards the back garden. I also got him to join me in writing individual statements to which he has signed, admitting fault, stating the damage appeared fresh, admitting the hose line was covered in the usual grit and dirt and that had pulled it in to the back garden and that it must have risen up over my bonnet. My question to you gents, is presumably he will need to claim back the repairs off his public liability insurance?
  4. Does anyone know whether there is a VCDS adaptation for the Mk3 vRS so that the coming home / leaving home lights are DRLs only. I know there is one that changes it to the fogs but looking for it light the day light running lights only. Thanks, in advance!
  5. Hope this helps.. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/288726-retrofitting-cruise-control/
  6. Gents…all sorted courtesy of my good neighbour and his windows laptop (also done all my VCDS changes in the past). Andy thanks for the quick replies last night
  7. Yes so i've read! Although when I updated before it worked without a hitch
  8. I used the direct link that you'd kindly posted earlier in the thread. I'm using a mac though….!!
  9. Thanks for the quick reply Andy! I'll re-format the card and try again
  10. I've downloaded the November update and it appeared to have worked however on loading up the amundsen the maps are there but no road names, motorway & A road numbers etc…any thoughts?
  11. Luke, I grazed the R/N/S alloy of my vRS at the end of November on a high kerb, it wasn't deeply scored but noticeable nevertheless. I made use of The Wheel Specialist ( http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk) - albeit the Birmingham branch that I went to would be a bit of a trek for you, it looks a though they have franchises all over the country. They sorted mine out for £55 and I can't fault the job they did.
  12. I've used this http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/nanolex-textile-and-leather-sealant-cat22.html
  13. Worth taking advice from.. www.actionfraud.police.uk
  14. Does anyone else use Spotify for music and connect via the MDI? I have noticed that when it changes to the next song on the playlist or album then whatever is displayed on the head unit in the car just stays on the first song that you played. However if you connect via the bluetooth audio feature it will display the correct song when it's being played. Also if you are connected via the MDI and you use the steering wheel to cycle to the next song then it just plays the first song thats stored as an mp3 in my iPhone and not whatever should be next on Spotify. Again, this is not a problem if you use bluetooth as a connection. Do people who use Spotify and an iPhone have a similar experience? Matt
  15. Yep agreed, fantastic work. I did mine last night along with some of the others from the "tried and tested" thread although I have yet to check if it's full functional as I haven't taken it out during darkness yet although the icon shows on the dash when I push the left stork away. I have yet to change the lux levels as I ran out of time
  16. Yep my car was delayed (surprise surprise) and the dealer organised a replacement vehicle for me to have for the month before mine arrived. I ended up with a Passat estate. I think the criteria is simply that the car isn't delivered in line with the expected delivery date on the paperwork
  17. I can't see that this has been answered, does anyone know if you activate the traffic sign recognition via VCDS do you need to have the LA activated for it to work?
  18. Yes Tiger I think you are correct on the time limit, not entirely sure on that exact time limit and how many days from the point of first registration, that may vary from company to company
  19. No don't take GAP from the dealer, it's a rip off. Shop around on the internet, like Shermo said you'll get a much better deal. I personally got mine from ALA insurance for my vRS and previously my BMW. Also be aware of the different types of GAP such as Return to Invoice and Vehicle Replacement etc ... http://www.which.co.uk/money/insurance/guides/gap-insurance/choosing-a-gap-insurance-policy/
  20. Personally Iain I wouldn't use a pressure washer and always two-bucket wash it. As for how regular I wash it..I suppose it depends on the weather and my time off work but I try and keep on top of it during the winter months
