  1. I had similar issues last year. After my local delaer changing the battery is both keys, the problems persisted. In the end, it was noticed that the little red light was not flashing when I used the keys, so two new keys were ordered under warranty and touch wood, the problems have not come back.
  2. Need to get a spare bulb kit for my 2006 Octavia and have found a set of Philips Vision Care sets as follows: Suitable for Skoda Octavia 2004 onwards, the Philips Vision Care Spare Bulbs Kit is essential for travelling in the UK and Europe. The carrying of a spare car bulbs kit is mandatory in certain parts of Europe, including France, the Netherlands, and Spain, and is recommended in all other European countries. Make sure that you can replace a worn out car light bulb immediately during the course of a journey to ensure that you arrive safely at your destination without having to stop at a garage. The Philips VisionCare Spare Car Bulb set, not only contains a collection of the most important bulbs for your car, (Headlight Bulb, Brake Light, Indicator Light, Side Light), but also a listing of the emergency phone numbers for all European countries. Supplied in kits for cars fitted with H1 (448), H4 (472), or H7 (499) headlamp bulbs. My question is, what do I go for? In my manual, it says front headlight low beam is H7 and main beam H1. Any ideas? Cheers
  3. Thats a shame. I guess a dealer would charge a labour fee?
  4. Totally agree. Any ideas if this can be turned off via the maxidot display?
  5. Skoda UK have washed their hands of it? Keep banging away at the dealer until its sorted. Simple.
  6. I think checking your tyres should be done whether you have an electronic aid or not. Seems bizarre that the feature can be a little hit and miss though, which is a little worrying.
  7. Some ****** wrote on a mate of mines dirty Ford Escort cabriolet years ago, and obviously was wearing either a watch or had a bracelet on that also scratched the car. Unfortunately, you never catch the useless ******* ******* doing it, do you, otherwise they'd get a good kick in only for the owner of the car to be nicked for GBH. Fun eh? Although to be fair, my mate did get some stick for buying that car, it was awful :-)
  8. Waste of money then really. You can tell a tyre is flat just by looking at it. I never paid the £50 or so for it, but I was always led to believe that the whole point of it was to keep pressures monitored. If it it waits until a tyre is flat, it hasn't done its job surely. Sounds like you are lucky as they seem hit and miss.
  9. Really? I have just checked my manual and it does not say that.
  10. This all seems very much like the case when I was looking to buy a new Octavia in 2006 (june time). I wanted new and had a 2 year old Fabia estate to px. When I went into my local dealer, I had a look at their 'nearly new and pre-reg' list of cars for sale. There was a March 06 (6000+) miles Elegance hatch 1.6 FSI with the standard trim plus maxi dot. When I looked into it and asked about having a look at it, I was told one of the salesman was using it until September which is when it would become avaliable, so you can imagine that there would be plenty of miles on top of what was already on the clock, but suprisingly enough, the price was less than £500 of the price of a brand new one. Why would anyone buy it? You go to other dealers and their pre-reg cars seem much better value than Skoda dealers.
  11. Brilliant. First sign of 'i've got your money, go away, leave me alone' attitude. What a dumb ******. Personally, i'd hand the car back, demand a courtesey car and expect the problem to be rectified and not budge until they agree. As for handing over £500 - that just sounds like a scam.
  12. I guess the real question should be, how does Skoda word this in their brochure? If its not real leather, surely, they are misleading with the brochures? No?
  13. The tech should not be working in this line of work if 'thats the best tehy can do'. Saves them time and money as you will just go away. If this is a new car, stick to your guns and demand the car be done.
  14. I have always loved F1 since I can remember, but its getting pathetic. With some teams having their input in other teams anyway ie engines, its beginning to make me question certaing aspects of F1 such as how expensive can favours cost? Cynical? Yep.
  15. This came up a few months ago when Mclaren were to be probed. It was said that Renault used possible data from another team when Fernado Alonso won his two championships. Now, with Alonso being at the centre of the Ferrari/Mclaren scandal, why is there a common link to all this?
  16. What a load of old tosh. The reception in my 2002 and 2004 Fabia estates were a million times better than the 2006 Octavia I have and that is 5 Live on Medium Wave I talking about.
  17. Another sorry tale, but as your problem started long before the warranty expired (if it isn't sorted by the time it expires), that will be down to the dealer and Skoda. You should and hopefully would still be covered. Hope you get it sorted soon.
  18. Here is what I would do: Print these two threads off and show them to the person who you have been dealing with at the delership.
  19. The problem is, the dealer says about the £200 difference in trade in value, but hoever long it is until you decide to get rid of the car, the damage may get worse and who is going to want your car? You certainly would get hit for a lot more than £200 I reckon. The dealer really should not be giving you figures anyway as these things could be differnt in 2 or 3 years time. Dreadful service. Dreadful advice.
