  1. I am sure if you type in the search field 'maxidot', you should find lots of info.
  2. I was a convertor to Tescos 99 super unleaded, but for the past couple of months went back to using Ron 95, mainly due to the price. Last week though, I went back to 99 to see if it was my imagination that I wasn't getting as good mpg and that I was putting more petrol in. That extra 4p a litre is definately worth it and I WON'T be going backl to 95 AGAIN. If petrol continues to rise, i'd rather invest in a push bike to use when I can.
  3. Some 06 playes also have the AUX socket in the jumbo box, like mine.
  4. I love my Elegance. Have had no problems with anything. I did buy it brand new and added a few more extras too it. I actually went for a test drive in the classic and yes, it was basic, but the drive and feel of the car won me over. The elegance just added to the overall appeal of teh car. The Ambient does look a decent bet though.
  5. Don't like wood in a car, it looks tacky to me. But thats just my taste.
  6. Blimey, so not only have you had a Friday car, you have a really ****e Friday car. Bad luck.
  7. Blimey, who let the fireworks off? Regarding the bootliners, I ordered one for my Hatch in October 06 and wasn't happy with it. Ordered it via Wings. They were happy to refund my money and leave it at that. As far as I am aware, that is generally the way many retailers work.
  8. That is just wrong. MANY retailers will gladly order you something if they don't have it in stock. Some ask you to pay up front, some ask you to pay on delivery and some on receipt of goods. If the item is not what you expected, required or it simply wasn't upto scratch, you have every right to return the item(s). Its a bit like going into a car dealer and saying you want to spend 18 grand on a top spec car with the biggest engine only for a salesman to turn around and say 'well, we only have the 1.4 in the bog standard trim'. Would you really shell out all the cash if you can't test drive what you want to buy?
  9. How the hell do some dealers stay in business? Maybe you should add your thoughts to the dealer reviews. For White Dove, this was posted at the end of March 'Dont buy any car from them because there after care customer service is the worst of any company i have dealt with'.
  10. You should push for a brand new car as this one obviously sounds as if it wasn't fit for purpose. Oh, and contact Watchdog!!
  11. No worries mate. Should also point out that I have never had a problem when using my local dealer to do warranty work or servicing either. Just get the usual questions 'why didn't you buy from us', to which I reply, 'well, I tried'.
  12. I have purchased 3 Skodas via brokers, Carfile in fact and like you, I was dubious at the start, but it no real hassle apart from when I got my Octavia, the supplying dealer went bust and thankfully, another dealer matched the deal I had set up. But the fact that I only used Carfile initially and then the whole process was handled by their appointed dealers, basically meant I got a good deal and a dealer purchased UK car (my local dealer could not get anywhere near the prices I got - presumeably because of the volume of sales put their way meant Carfiles dealer could offer better discounts), so no different than going to your local dealer in a way, just all the hassle taken out. Didn't quite match your deal by the way, which is great.
  13. My 06 has it too, although iirc, it was a MY07 as it has the MP3 socket too which I beleieve also wasn't on the MY06. I picked up mine in August 06 and is a UK spec.
  14. Yep, same here. Very poor design, although I am sure there are other cars with similar design faults.
  15. Definately no ambient lighted door handles on the UK spec.
  16. When the car came into the dealer Stu, I see it within 30 minutes of arriving as I worked just down the road. Everything was the same as the 02 car, albeit the bleeper in a different place. The sensors were all in the bumper etc......
  17. Just to point out, re the bleeper unit. Owned two new Fabia estates between 2002 and 2004 and both had factory fitted parking sensors. The 1st one had no sign of the bleeper unit, however, the second one was next to the speaker on the passenger side in the boot. It was all very neat and made no difference to me whatsoever, but I did find it strange at the time.
  18. Trust me nick, I don't think it matters where the car is from, Wings are expensive full stop, whether servicing or buying cars. Never seem interested in giving decent trade in prices and most definately are not interested in giving much of a discount on a brand new car. Many other 'dealers' are so in that respect, always shop around.
  19. When you say left hand side of the boot, under the carpet?
  20. Typical, mine have stopped working now. Haven't used the car for a few days. The front are absolutely fine, but the rear is not spraying any water out at all. Not sure if they are blocked or not, or if anything has popped out, which happened to one of my Fabia estates a couple of years back. How do I get to the spray holes at the back. Does the black casing come off?
  21. I only have the mp3 Stream with 8 speakers and I do find there is enough bass to keep me happy, however, I do not think the sound quality of the Octavias stereo set up matches that of my older Fabia estates, which were the companies standard and 8 speakers. Weird.
  22. Me too (only have a 1.6 FSI) but they billed VW for just £59.
  23. Why not contact What Car? No harm in trying. You obviously have a problem with your 'new' car and as such, is covered by a 3 year warranty. If the dealer is clueless, that is not your concern. Good luck.
