  1. Coil pack esp problem cruise control All sorted and settled under warranty. The esp/abs problem was a fight to get Skoda to pay up in full, but with all the publicity and everyone knowing it was a major issue, I dug my heels in.
  2. Hi, I had my car serviced at VW Rescue in Wombourne and also MOT'd. The MOT failed due to a problem with the the high beam on the passenger side being defective. It came up last week on the maxidot and when VW Rescue did a diagnostics report it came up with the following: Subsystem 2 - part no: IK0 955 559 AE Labels: IK0 955 559 AF CLB Components RLS220606 014 1201 Coding 00471077 Shop # WSC 23039 1 fault found 01495 bulb for high beams left (M30) 010 - open or short to plus Freeze Frame: Fault statud 01101010 Fault priority 3 Fault frequency 1 Reset counter 5 Mileage 85376 km Time indication 0 Freeze frame: ON Voltage 11.60v ON ON OFF OFF OFF They have tried a number of bulbs but still didn;t work, yet the bulbs used worked in the drivers side light cluster. They then conncected the passenger side cluster upto the drivers side and all worked fine, but they cannot get the high beam to work. I have asked skoda Stourbridge if I can go down to talk to somebody about this with the diag report I have, but they just want me to spend more money on having another diag report first. Is this going to help me or will I get the exact same info again? And why can't VW Rescue get it to work? Seem to be totally stuck!
  3. I picked up my car yesterday and some bits that failed the mot have been done apart from the high beam issue. After speaking to the guy, they tried everything when it was hooked up to the drivers side and it all worked, so it's clearly something further back, maybe wiring or a fuse (no clue), but they have given me all the diagnostics print out wth the details on it so I can take it to skoda dealer at stourbridge to see if they can help. Can anyone recommend the best way to deal with this? Am I better off just turning up to speak to someone?
  4. Yes. I have been in contact with skoda at Stourbridge who of course asked me to take the car in and they will put it on the diagnostics for £42. The problem I have is that for the first time, i have used an independent, have to pay them money for trying to sort it.......maybe going to a main dealer is the best option.
  5. Hi, I have taken my Skoda Octavia to an independent garage (VW rescue) to have the car MOT'd and there is an issue with the full beam light on the passenger side. The light came on the dash board last week and said about the beam being defective. The garage that has tried to fix it has taken out the old bulb and replaced it with a new one but still doesn't work. The bulb in the passenger side was then put in the drivers side and it worked. The bulb that was in the drivers side was then put in the passenger side which didn't work. Now, the garage involved have looked at a few things, had the diagnostics on the car and the fault is there but everything they have tried they cannot get the light to work. Do you know if there is any possible reason why one bulb won't flash whilst the driver side works? My car has failed its MOT which is now expired, my tax is due the end of the month and the garage don't know what to do.
  6. Surely, if a Skoda dealer has already tried to rectify issues and failed, the issues that you highlighted when they were still in the warranty period should still be fixed under warranty. They will fob you off hoping that you will go away. If i were you (and I have in the past), I would persist until they do the work correctly and at their expense.
  7. My passenger side mirror has also been done. Parked in a quiet cul de sac and clearly someone has decided to break it ( it's still attached but appears to be a clean break) with no other vehicle involved as it isn't scratched or anything.
  8. Cheers, will get in touch with them. I live in Dudley now and although the nearest Skoda dealer I think is Stourbridge (and the fact that I have used a main dealer in the past), would like someone a bit closer to home. Thanks.
  9. With service and MOT due very soon, I just wondered if anybody has ever used these: http://www.vwaudiservicing.com/ They are in the Dudley, West Midlands area. If anybody has, any good? Cheers Wayne
  10. Common fault across the whole VAG group. I got mine done after it failed on my 06 Octavia. Had to push hard but got it done 3 months ago with Skoda footing the complete bill. Good luck.
  11. Glad to hear it. I think the way people have been fobbed off with this issue for what seems like years is nothing short of shocking. Should have been a recall ages ago.
  12. A little Chris. I wasn't happy with the 20% offered by SkodaUK and had to keep on emailing my contact at dealer who in all honesty was brilliant. I, after seeing the piece on the tv with the VW Golf,I did insist on a 100% contribution, but wasn't sure i'd get it. If dealer had come back and said that Skoda had said no, I would have pursued the matter further on the evidence that is out there, Personally, I can't believe that any of the VAG group can refuse this unless they can prove its not down to a faulty part. Good luck to everyone.
  13. Work done and everything seems fine. Interestingly, it was done under 'warranty'.
  14. Just thought i'd share my thoughts on this issue. The ESP light came on last Autumn and had a quote from my dealer. At the time I didn't have the money to get it done. Came home, checked Briskoda and bingo, I wasn't alone. And after more research found out it wasn't exclusive to Skoda but other owners of other VAG group cars. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have spent the last 4 months toing and frowing with dealer over this and SkodaUK offered a 20% contribution towards the bill, which I wasn't happy with. After seeing the 'Don't Get Done' BBC programme regarding VW and the identical problems on the Golf, I sent yet another email to my dealer contact and linked all the info from the programme and what VW were doing for owners and insisted on a 100% contribution from SkodaUK. Well, finally, today, I got the news that SkodaUK will foot the bill and so they should. My car is an 06 plate (less than 50000 miles), full skoda dealer service history so everything followed to the letter. So, for those in a similar position, stick to your guns.
  15. My ESP light came on this week and the car went in on Friday as it was due a service and mot. I have a 2006 Elegance 1.6 FSI. When they phoned me to tell me they had checked the ESP fault (and the Airbag faulty message) it was fault indicated with ABS wiring loom, repair kit required to rectify. I had found this thread before I went and I asked the dealer to not do anywork on the car at the moment due to cash being short and the fact that I wanted to talk to them about the actualt fault and more specifically the actual fault code. When the guy went through the paperwork with me that the mechanic had printed out, the code was G201. I explained to him about the fact that this apparently seems a common and known fault and that I am going to contact Skoda direct as I have had my car fully serviced at my local Skoda dealer since new and am not happy about paying £300+. My question to you guys who have been in contact with Skoda is, do you have any particular contact details? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers Wayne
  16. Car in today and dealer have advised the leak is through the boot seal and that the alarm issue was traced to the horn.
  17. Mercedes, Skoda etc etc.... all have their plus and minus points. I am forever reading about how poor Mercedes dealers are, but surely not everyone can have problems with them, especially at the charges they make. As for your Skoda issue - did you go back to them to discuss about getting your money back?
  18. This is great news. I have to say, I have been in a similar situation to you, although, my local Skoda dealer were the ones that messed my 2004 brand new Fabia estate up when they fitted roof rails. They actually looked a mess AND I had a drill scratch above one of the rear doors. Although I got it all sorted eventually (because the roof rails hadn't been fitted correctly, I even had rain water enter the roof and make a mess of the lining too - I wish I had taken photos of it all), the thought of my bfrand new car being screwed up left a bitter taste. I wanted to post that when I first read about your problems, but didn't want to make you feel worse. Just hope you get it all sorted to how it should be.
  19. I have the maxi dot and the MFSW and mine is a 2006 Elegance and I am sure they came as a pair. I could live without the MFSW, but the maxi dot imo, is priceless and certainly is cosmetically pleasing too.
  20. Evening guys. Well, went to dealer and was speaking to the receptionist in a calm and measured way (I had a **** day today at work I just wanted to shout at someone, but thought better of it) and explained the situation. I mentioned the rear washer situation and they are going to sort this out and whilst I was explaining, in some detail about what has happened (alarm and water), one of the service guys who had been sitting there listening to me got a screwdriver and said he would empty the water and we had a bit of a chat. He said that it could be the rear washer although he said by how I was describing how much water was in the spare wheel well, he said it might not. I first showed him how the alarm was setting (without the beeps and with the red light staying on for a while before flashing as normal) and he said that seems to be just an issue with the alarm. This is going to be checked out. When I opened the boot and he took the spare wheel out, he put his hand in and said its definately rain water and not washer water/fluid. When he let the water out, I was amazed how much actually came out.I asked him how the water could be getting in and he said it could be anything from a problem with a seal, around the rear lights for instance, so I looked and the offside rear light had condensation clearly visible. So it looks as if it might well be that. I have booked the car in for monday for it to be looked at and for its mot (might aswell get it al done at the same time), so just need to see what they come back with. In the meantime, I have had the boot open this evening to air it a little with the boot floor up and have removed the spare wheel and accessories to allow it all to air. Have left the plug out that was taken out as this will let some natural air in too when the boot is shut. One question though - in the boot, there is three clips that I thought hold the boot carpet in place and when I took them off, I couldn't remove it. Can the boot floor be removed? Do I need to put the rear seats down to so this? Many thanks for all your advice on this guys.
  21. Not 100 percent sure at the moment. By the time I got home, it was almost dark, so won't get a clearer view until tomorrow. I have actually hooked the floor up to the parcel shelf to air it a little. Hopefully, like you say, a wash and driying might do the trick. Was just thinking also, hope the spare wheel hasn't been affected, but will check that out too tomorrow. Cheers
  22. Yeah, will do. Going to pop in after work tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers
  23. Unfortnately, I haven't cleaned it up.Haven't been in long, but need to take the spare wheel out and I presume, scoop the bloody water out. But what about the mouldy boot floor? Cheers for the advice by the way. Much appreciated.
