  1. Hi again, It is dreadful to see that so many are still fighting for their just rights and the usual Skoda names continue to crop up expounding denial. Being one of the first engaging them and fortunately after some 6 months walking away with a full refund I find it absurd and unreal that the National Press haven't got hold of this and decimated Skoda for the way they have just walked all over their customer base. It really beggars belief that in today's customer rights climate they can simply ignore the customer and leave them with what undoubtedly will become a pretty worthless 2nd hand vehicle as the trade will be well aware of the issues and decline to offer good value to the affected vehicles. To make it worse, as I stated at the time I bought a Ford Kuga with all the similar bells and whistles - the difference being FORDS WORK SO WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT FOR SKODA TO FIX? Take care all and I wish you the very best and hope that eventually Kate & Co do what they are supposed to: CUSTOMER SUPPORT.
  2. First may I please express my sorrow that you are all still left floundering by repeated hollow promises and no positivity for the Brand. I also had a MK4 1st Edition and first began complaining 12 months ago and after directly contacting Pietro Panarisi ([email protected]) Head of Press & PR he directed Stephanie Keenan ([email protected]) their Brand Liaison Manager Tel 01137334219 to oversee my case. Sadly that result was incredibly similar to your current comments and the 'words' are strikingly the same. Fortunately my dealership was completely on-side and I took a full refund last May. During the whole debacle I never received any support whatsoever via Skoda UK. Together with other affected owners I contacted Honest John but to be fair that came to very little. I find it very difficult to understand why this has never hit the mainstream press and personally I would advocate contact with someone like Matt Allbright at the BBC or Rip Off Britain as you will need to create a media storm if you are to achieve your just deserts. They cannot be allowed to continue to ride rough-shod over their customers. I wish you the best of luck and do hope that you achieve a satisfactory outcome at no loss to yourselves.
  3. Thanks for your comments and to answer your thoughts I was one of the first to put pressure on Skoda UK by involving Honest John and Pietro Panarisi, Head Of Press and PR at Skoda UK. Until this everyone was suffering total denial by Skoda UK when at long last they did acknowledge they had an issue especially with the inability to change KPH/MPH a legal requirement. Sad to say that despite several months of excuses little progress appears to have been made. I have remained a watcher on this site because I have a genuine interest in the vehicle and definitely would not have change had I been provided the service from Skoda I had every reason to expect with my purchase. I wish you well
  4. Agreed - but I've surprisingly found the Kuga to be a far better and more responsive tow car than the Octavia so in a way they did me a favour.
  5. Hi again, Although it is not quite 12 months since I bought mine which I kept for 6 months pitiful belief of the reassurances we received I am pleased I took the full refund + some and am now in a Ford Kuga ST+ which delivers in all ways having very similar electronic attributes as the First Edition but with the difference that they all work fine. Only downside is the Kuga is not as frugal as the Octy but then it is 190bhp. Good luck everyone and I trust that eventually Skoda UK will deliver on their word although the responses listed on here do tend to be somewhat repetitive, contemptible and insulting to the intelligence of their customers.
  6. Mine was taken back by my dealership and is showing as untaxed from the day they collected it.
  7. Hi Guys, The shocking truth is that the wording in this email hasn't changed or gained sincerity since I was receiving them earlier in the year. Surely it is well past time Skoda got honest with their clientele, their persistence in denial belittles them and the personnel representing them or do they actually think we believe them? So pleased I got all my money back, now driving a Kuga with similar features but these all work fine with fault.
  8. So pleased I opted for buy back with full refund & no deduction after 6 months. Now have new Kuga & away with caravan touring Wales with every gismo working as it should. Good luck to all of you I do hope you eventually achieve full satisfaction.
  9. I echo OctaviaFirstEdit and fully concur. Do hope you achieve a full resolution to all the varied issues.
  10. It is not generally available as it is a known fault with the Head Units fitted to some cars. Check out the Topic KPH/MPH in this group. Many owners have had their cars bought back my Skoda as there is a legality issue under the Construction & Use Regs. The long sad saga is well documented under that topic together with the contact details of senior members of Skoda UK with whom many of us have had contact. Sorry to hear you may have the issue and hope that you are able to obtain a satisfactory resolution.
  11. For a time I received calls from her colleague Stephanie Keenan however that dried up after the Easter break but I was offered and accepted a full refund + some by my dealership for my car bought on 10th November 2020. My view is that Skoda UK would never be countenancing buy-backs if there was even a slight possibility of producing a fix which obviously for them would be the cheaper option. They must have tarnished their reputation tremendously. It is a tragic episode for a car which is otherwise pretty good. We now have a Kuga with very similar electronic attributes, the main difference being that they all work fine including the Mobile Connect functionality Lock/Unlock and even Start Engine if you want to. Looking at the displays and functionality the similarity is striking so why on earth is it such a major issue for VAG to sort it properly? Good luck to you all, I hope that you manage to obtain some respite and relief of the stress caused.
  12. So pleased for you that you now have a car that delivers your needs. We had a MK3 for 4 years spending summers in Spain towing and sold it with 40k on the clock and never had any issues whatsoever, just wish we had never part-ex for the new MK4 which sadly wasn't Covid Free!! It goes back on Monday. Disappointed in the extreme with Skoda UK totally unsupportive good job my supplying dealership had ethics settling in full without deductions. Now leaving the brand for Ford Kuga. Interestingly it has much the same in facilities / specification but on their site there are no gripes about things not working or giving error messages.
  13. Very pleased for you. I have also had good news today. Ours is being collected on Monday at long last for a full refund plus a bit extra for mudflaps and tank full of fuel. I hope all goes well for you with your new car and that you are not troubled further. Our dealership is Rainsworth, Sheffield. Quite sorry to see the car go as I really do think it is a great car and a very hard act to follow but there is no way we could put up with the repetitive and intermittent faults and the attitude of Skoda UK. Our dealership have been most supportive however - it isn't their fault, they haven't been supported by Skoda. I've now got a set of Rubber floor mats (front & Rear) and also a Rubber boot liner specifically for our old MK but will also do for the MK4 with slight width overhang if anyone wants to make an offer?

  15. Thanks Skodev - that is the car we are considering, we only have a smallish 2 berth but the power to weight ratio looks brilliant and it comes fully loaded so looking forward to it at long last as we haven't been able to fit a tow-bar to our Sept (20) MK4 on dealer advice due to the issues. Hope this model will be stress free.
  16. I certainly haven't received it. Yet!
  17. Hi Coume, Congratulations on your pending settlement. My supplying dealership has also proactively encouraged me to accept a buy-back at price paid however I still await finalisation and settlement. Having trolled the market we have decided to go for the Kuga to pull our caravan after 14yrs of fabulous Skodas but enough is enough. Hopefully we will all be able to relax when this dreadful episode is finally put to bed and customer loyalty satfisfied.
  18. Wouldn't it be so much better if they could be open, informative and truthful?
  19. Thanks, that's more encouraging news than I've received. Good luck.
  20. Good morning Gax. I initially wrote to my dealership 21 days after taking delivery of the car back in November and patiently awaited a fix but to no avail as we all know Skoda have not issued one for the dealers to apply. My dealings have not been with Kate but with Stephanie Keenan but as yet no figure has been offered. The buy-back is a legal matter between you and your supplying dealership not Skoda UK. Hope that is helpful. Take care and good luck in your negotiations.
  21. Further to above and the previous chat re the differing Head Units we are currently in a Buy-Back situation and have located an identical car which we are considering getting. This one has the Device part number: 5E3035816B which allows KPH/MPH change and apparently doesn't exhibit the other faults (Build Date December 2020). Our car has the Device part number: 5E3035816 and was built 12 March 2020. Could I please ask any of you for advice re that particular Device Part Number as to your experiences etc., which would be most appreciated to aid our decision and allow us to move forward. Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi Eric, Very interested in your comment from Kate Laws that she said it should be 6-8 weeks as her colleague Stephanie Keenan, Brand Liaison Manager, on 22 April 2021 stated:- "Further to our conversation you requested I provide you with information regarding potential future software releases relating to head unit software versions, alongside technical product information. I am sure you can appreciate I am not able to provide you with such information in relation to this matter, Technical Product Information released from our factory and provided to either SKODA UK or the Retail Network is internal communication and as such it is not something I am privy to before its release from the relevant departments. that currently they do not have a programmed date for a fix." I told her I find very difficult to accept as all work is Project Managed and programmed to affect departmental efficiency. If that is the case and is confirmed I could certainly wait otherwise we accept the Buy-Back and purchase an alternative car. Hey Ho! Happy Days.
  23. As you know I have posted numerous times on here. As yet we haven't gained a resolution to our issues. We still have the inability to change KPH/MPH which will become a major issue when we can eventually get across the Channel otherwise the old intermittently reoccurring sensor faults are definitely dwindling in their frequency which is good. Can't explain why as it has not been back in since early Dec 20 and there has been no online update that I can see. Strange, maybe it is because we have both now received our 2nd Covid Vaccine!!!! I received a request from Which Motoring asking me to complete the 2021 Car Survey which in the interest of potential purchasers I felt honour bound to submit in a most factual manner and thought others may be like minded. This is the link and you do not have to be a member to submit same. https://which.focusvision.com/survey/selfserve/53b/210202?list=1&source=33 In the meantime have a relaxing holiday weekend and stay safe.
  24. We took delivery of ours on 10th Nov, a previous demonstrator, and reported it through our local dealership within a couple of days and the car subsequently went in on three separate occasions, all to no avail. In the meantime I had attempted to get help from Skoda Customer Services but they insisted this wasn't known to them and needed to go into a dealership for it to be checked subsequently to be informed at the beginning of December that our car wasn't fitted with the facility to change to KPH etc. The rest is history. We still have the car and the faults despite it being elevated to the Executive office. Now 6 months on we are no nearer getting sorted.
