Octavia Mk4 aftermarket towbar
It does seem totally illogical that we won't be able to fit an after-market tow-bar as it will have a substantial affect on Tow-Bar fitting companies and drive them out of business. Also as the Octavia, Supreme and Kodiaq are regularly praised as Tow car of the year. As mentioned above this will certainly be right across the VAG group and I guess other marks also. Bit of a mess really.and having queried this prior to purchase when I was assured that it wouldn't be an issue to fit an after-market tow-bar afterwards at any fitters!!!!

Thanks for your update. Our car is in on Wed 3rd to have the illusive 'Control Lever' replaced which apparently is the utopia of all things!! I've told them I don't want the car back until everything is fixed so need to wait and see.

Sorry for your disappointment, I guess I've got that to come next week when ours goes in for the 3rd time to resolve these issues. It really is amazing that Skoda appear to adopt such a laissez-faire attitude to accepting and fixing these issues.

Octavia Mk4 aftermarket towbar
I will be very interested in your results please as we bought the Mk4 to replace our Mk3 to tow our caravan. Prior to purchase Dealer indicated that fitting an after market tow bar wouldn't be an issue however my local bespoke tow-bar fitter says that he has been unable to access the coding to set up the car. He had no issues with the Mk3 but the system with the Mk4 is apparently quite different. I retained my old Westfalia detachable ready to fit to the new car as confirmed by P. F. Jones the initial supplier when I first bought it for our then new 2013 Octavia Elegance. Purchase wise I have found them always to be the cheapest on-line supplier.

Hi again, Sorry to hear of your disappointing visit to the Dealership but not surprised! Sadly it does appear to be the norm at present. I have had a call from my dealership to inform me that the allusive Selector Lever has arrived so car booked in for next Wed 3rd Feb when they have assured me that they will diagnose and fix my issues!!!!!!! Really great if they can but I have little confidence unfortunately. Will keep you posted.

Hi, Yes I had that campaign installed on our car back on 2nd December but sad to say that it changed nothing regarding the Infotaintment Errors. I am now awaiting the replacement of the Gear Control Lever which allegedly will solve everything!! The detail of your recall campaign which was released on 25th November 2020 is: The measures required on your vehicle are as follows; Criterion 02: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit MIB 3 OI Criterion 03: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit ESC. Criterion 04: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit MFK. Criterion 05: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit Kessy – IO - BOX. Criterion 06: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit Kessy – RSAD - BOX Criterion 09: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit Gateway. Criterion 10: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit of Rear Radar. Criterion 11: In the vehicles concerned update the control unit of Sound System. Criterion 12: In the vehicles concerned it is necessary to tighten screws on headlights. As I said this did nothing to improve our list of faults. Wish you luck,

I reported this to Skoda UK and like OctaviaFirstEdit above was told to take it to the Dealer, they found nothing!! Eventually the Skoda UK Customer Service Manager Dean told me that it is not available on my car! Querying this further I still got the same response. Not at all satisfactory.

Faults reported to dealer
Thanks for this, I have emailed copy of the link to my dealership who I know were due to be contacting Skoda UK today to progress my issues. Lets hope that they roll it out across the VAG group of affected vehicles.

Many thanks for your advice. I have already written to the dealer rejecting the car and relying on Consumer Rights Act 2015 but that letter was received by them within 30 days of me accepting delivery of the vehicle. As yet I have been unable to obtain any response whatsoever.

You report several of the issues which have impacted me. As regards the Lock/Unlock on the App I received a response yesterday from Dean Goodwin Customer Relations Manager, Skoda UK viz: "I can advise that we have received an update from our ŠKODA Connect Technical Team and they have confirmed that the remote Lock & Unlock feature is not available for your vehicle and cannot be added. I apologies for any disappointment that this may cause." I responded by quoting the advertising blurb, brochure and from the App site where there is a facility to check your vehicle by VIN which clearly indicates that it is available. They really are incredible. As this saga continues to the more minded I am to progress with a full refund on return of my car. Perhaps if more purchasers progressed this way the impact may have the desired affect? I have written to my supplying dealer asking for this.

Well done. It looks like you are getting a more positive response than I have achieved. If possible can you get details of the 'campaign' identifier please, it would be a great help Thanks,
