What makes you think that the dealers do not do the job fully? Why not just test with 1 drop of water? I work for a dealer and can tell you that I see these jobs getting done every day as it should be.

Sounds to me like the sales man just tweaked the figures to make himself more money. You obviously agreed £395 within the deal. This is wrong but doesnt mean you were fleeced.

You could use an autorun.inf to change the icon of the hard drive. Place an icon of your choice in the root of the hard disk eg. icon.ico and then place an autorun.inf in there also containing... [autorun] icon=icon.ico and then restart the computer.

Does it automatically upload to dropbox or photos?

LUK clutches are spot on. Fitted a genuine clutch to my old VW golf and it was an LUK in the box. Im sure most VAG group cars use LUK/Sachs?

Working in a garage I see too many people turn down timing belt changes due to the prices. If only most of these understood what could happen and how much it would then cost.

So as i said in one of my previous posts. I was unsure as to whether the car has been remapped. I work at the garage i bought my car from. Last week he was speaking to the service advisor about the car he should have never traded in (My Car). Anyway cut a long story short. He is an oldish fella that only really drove it on the weekends and took real good care of it. Polished it every weekend. This explains the very low milage. Also turns out he had the car remapped and it is running 240bhp. This explains why there is more power than what i thought it should have, as it pulls like a flipping tank. Plus the pipercross air filter I spotted when it got a full service :p . Its nice to know how the previous owner treated the car.

Personally would of just dropped a new lump in. Cant wait to see the bill.

My old volkswagen golf used to do this. Had the wheels balanced about 5 times until a tyre place eventually noticed a bleb in the back wall of the tyre.

I once had an issue like this on a mazda 3. Replaced everything, the last thing i replaced was the anti roll bar bushes. Had to drop the subframe down to get at them. Could not see any play at all but fixed the knocking.

Hello All, I had my car serviced today where I work which was due from when i got the car. I supplied the workshop with all genuine parts (Oil Filter, Air Filter and Spark Plugs) and genuine oil. When the technician came to change the air filter it had a lovely clean Pipercross filter fitted. Im happy with this as i was planning on fitting one anyway. Ever since I have had the car I have felt in the back of my mind that there is more power than what I would expect as standard. This filter has just made me wonder whether that maybe this is true. Maybe the previous owner has had it remapped? When i put the foot down a little, the car just wants to spin the wheels all the time. What are your thoughts? Without driving another I dont know what to think. I think I might get it booked onto a rolling road to find out its power. I think if I found out it was remapped I would not be bothered as I have remapped cars before with no issues. Thanks Gary

Why would most people not trust Skoda? I see nothing backing their answers up. Why do people call them the 'stealers' they do not price the parts/time for jobs themselves, It comes from the franchise and pricing is set for every job. I will take mine to a local specialist to have small work done, but when it comes to servicing i will always take it to Skoda. Somewhere down the line you may need 'goodwill' off Skoda for being loyal. My local specialist takes on ex-dealer technicians. What makes them different from one working currently for Skoda? Maybe someonce can shed some light on this for me. Thanks
