I never realised this would cause so much of a debate on legality etc. I was merely seeking opinion on if a shorty plate looked out of place on a big car like the Superb (length proportions to the car etc) However interesting reading and food for thought. I think to get a tug on my plate without the BSAU and postcode markings would be very petty. On my my other car, I have had that pulled due to a spacing issue, not a significant space and certainly no misrepresentation to the letters. That was once in 8 years. Fair cop guv. One thing I was told was about ANPR cameras and if your pride and joy is stolen, it may not get picked up on these. A good point but that plate did get recognised by the ANPR cameras in car parks at airports etc... The other car now has legal spacing on it as the Mrs doesn’t want any issues when she’s driving around.

Yes I was strongly tempted with them but read they are quite white. The itch has been scratched now anyway, albeit a very combersone experience.

Yep these were low to mid range, doing more research they were boxed up more premium brand like which was misleading. I had had same thoughts when that bumper was off! The Osram I know obviously are more tried and tested.

No the new wire and my VCDS cable cleared the faults. I just changed my mind on the bulbs and whipped the OEM ones back in whilst the bumper was off again! Wont be doing that job again that’s for sure!

Yep I noticed the same too! Must be the big grills on the front. Ive got some engine dresser to put on at the weekend but I was surprised too. Everything will be corroded in a few years time.

Second fill up tank to tank in my 150 derv and I got 38mpg! They mustn’t be driving the 280’s hard enough!

Faults are gone now than goodness. So are the 8k bulbs too.

I still don’t see how you’d get your hand through that. It’s a struggle prizing the retainer clips with the headlight out. Have you got the oil burner, maybe your engine bay is set out differently?

I keep getting the attached error. I was was connected to my 2018Superb and upgraded to VCDS 18.1 I was only fault scanning and kit tried coding yet.

There is no hatch via the wheel arch, not in this car anyway so it is definitely a bumper off job to easily remove the headlamp and put in the bulbs. I'm still faffing about now. Replaced the wiring loom which was attached to the temperature sensor. One code has gone but I still have that park pilot error. I don't have front PDC so I am a bit stuck now. Just connected my cable to it to scan the faults and reset. Also the ACC is not working, when the bumper was off, I couldn't see anything that would warrant the fault to remain :(

Put it this way, I won’t be doing it again... EVER! I had to go on with it as I had pulled one of the OEM bulbs out and not able to go back in. Yes purely styling, it produces a more icey white. Surprisingly not as blue as I thought and certainly nothing like you see on the colour charts in the internet. Not sure if that is a D3S bulb thing as I’ve done 8k on other cars and these have been bluer. Fully aware of of the the implications of going a higher kelvin rating, these still have an acceptable light output. In the small amount of night time driving I’ve done, good icey white pick up on road signs and cones as opposed to a warmer white.

Some 8000k bulbs mid range bulbs. Not had a proper test of them yet but were on today in rain and not too blue. Ill post pictures up oncce. I’ve sorted these errors. The wiring loom loom is on order The wires only thin but it is the correct part.
