  4. is the interior in my car real leather ? my last car before this one had leather interior and it felt much more thicker and harder its just that the leather in my 2013 superb Elegance feels a lot more softer and thinner just didn't know if it was real leather or some other material that is like leather? and i didn't know if it needed some kind of leather conditioner or not? they are very comfy anyway lol cheers kev
  5. just canceled the emissions job and going ahead with the software update! think al give the emissions one a miss why do something that can potentially give you problems, if it ant broke leave it alone lol cheers kev

  7. so what is it that they are trying to do ? and why are they doing it if it is known to give problems in another area i.e EGR & PDF ? touch wood the car is running fine, i had a little trouble a couple of months ago but nothing a new battery couldn't sort out i had it coded in, and had the car checked for any other faults which there was none no codes at all. fingers crossed it stays that way lol ! so i am a little concerned to let them start pocking around with my car and coursing problems with him mentioning the emissions strait away i am thinking ( mot test ) and emissions failure is this the case? cheers kev
  8. yea i think that is the one safety recall- 97dr -software update for body control module can anyone advise me on the recall for something to do with diesel emissions, just spoke to skoda dealership to book my car in for the software update and they informed me that my car needs to have some work done concerning diesel emissions, the reason i am asking is that he said some people decline having it done ! i am trying to find out why they refuse and the reason why? cheers kev

  10. thanks for the help buddy!
  11. thanks for reply langers2k i didnt know they could regen when just pottering around town, i thought you needed to get them on the motorway for a decent run to get the temp up ? come to think about it now i did lift the bonnet just to check things looked ok under there the only thing i could feel was the sheald on top of the turbo seamed to be a bit worm and the engine was just coming up to ruining temp i.e bang on the middle and to be honest i make the same distance trip pretty regular its one of my daughters house and over this cold spell we are getting, same trip the temp needle is only on 1/4 so i was a little surprised to see it was on 1/2 witch is the cars normal running temp? cheers kev!
  12. I drove the car (2013 elegance 2.0L tdi 170bhp 6speed dsg 4x4) last nigh from cold less than 3miles got out of car locked it up and heard the electric fan was on i have never heard it before jumped back into car started it up to check temp gauge and it was just up to normal running temp right in the middle. drove car back to my house less than 3 miles switched car off took keys out and fans where still on again i had to go some where else about 8miles away got back and fan had stopped. i thought the fan doe not come on unless the temp gets high? dose anyone know why the fan would come on even if the engine is only at normal running temp even when i turn the engine off? has anyone else had a problem like this? cheers kev
  13. big thank you to tunedude for sorting my battery coding problem its people like this that make this such a good forum thanks again pal!
  14. hi there, sorry to keep bringing the same problem up yet again but i am having a nightmare with this battery coding i when and got a (NEW) varta e39 silver dynamic AGM start/stop 70AH + 760A only difference between the new battery to the old one is the old varta battery is 68AH and 680A the new one is 70AH and 760A just going up on the values a small amount. thinking everything should be fine now i should be so lucky the mechanic was still having problems coding it in, his diagnostic tool still only giving him 3 numbers to choose from for the battery code and when he enters the new values it will not recognize them so he had a fiddle around on the diagnostic and said there think that is it finished the job off i started the car it started just as it should do no warning lights came on so off i when. but to be honest i am a bit concerned it has not been coded correctly and may do something to the car ecu or something i told you it was all new to me lol. so is any of the members that have VCDS in or near to st,helens that would be willing to check if it hase been coded correctly for me and code it in if needed i am more than happy to pay for there time not a problem i just need to know it right. i do not want it cooking my battery or damaging anything elf. many thanks kev p.s if it hasnt been coded correctly could i do any damage by me using the car until someone can check it for me?
  15. many thanks everyone for there input much appreciated! atb kev
  16. thanks for the help i will need to show the guy at the garage this info see if he can do that, i need to get my self another battery now as he has sent the YUASA back to general motors and asked me to try and do a bit of research to find out what needs doing and get myself the correct battery the guy at the garage did try to sort things out for me i was stud next to him when he made half a dozen phone calls trying to get a the solution to the problem we was getting so he hasn't just fobbed me off. is there any chance you could recommend a new battery for me please? the one thats fitted on the car when i got it is (VARTA 68AH - 680A) and i was hoping i could up rate it a little with the new battery with a (bigger AH - and a bigger A) is this poss with no adverse affect? if this is ok to do could you please advise me on which battery to get and fit to my car? many thanks kev
  17. thanks for the help chaps! atb kev
  18. thanks for the reply but the new battery is a make that the snap on diagnostic machine doesn't give you that make name it doesn't give you the option of yuasa + i have tried to up the battery values a little for example the battery on the car now is a varta 68AH-680A the battery i am trying to fit is a YUASA -YBX9000- 70AH- 760A is it safe to do so i.e would the higher values do anything to the car? if the slightly higher values are ok to do would it be better to try and find a VARTA battery with the higher values and stay with the VARTA make seeing as that is the make that is already on the car? p.s on his diagnostic i think he needed to pick one of the three code numbers that it offered befor it would moove on to the next section for the coding. sorry if i haven't explained things properly its all very new to me and i haven't got a clue how to do it,iam used to just throwing a new battery on a car and away you go lol many thanks kev
  19. Hi there, need some help ! my car(mk2 superb elegance 2.0 tdi cr 4x4 s-a 6 speed dsg with stop start) i have been having trouble with my battery loosing its charge its ok for a day or so then car wont start i have to jump start it, i charged the battery up using a ctek 5.0 then morning after the battery was giving (12.08) it went down to (9.+ ) under crank couldn't see the number really it starts that fast i only seen the (9.) something its that quick, then ones started and ticking over it was giving (14.89) problem is with this cold weather my car wont start after 2 days or so so bite the bullet and got a new battery. this is where the problem starts the battery that is already fitted to my car is a varta with 68AH - 380din- 680A i was told of some of the other members that a new battery would need coding in. the battery i changed it to was a (YUASA YBX9000 72AH- 720A) i took the car to an indie garage to have the battery changed over he fitted the new YUASA battery and tried coding it in he dosnt have vcds but he has a pretty useful snap on diagnostics, he started to enter the new values in then got to the stage where it was asking him for make of new battery then code number it gave a phew names of battery makes like exide.varta and so on but no YUASA so he couldn't enter the make of battery then it asked for the code number of the battery, the diagnostics machine gave three different code numbers to pick from but we couldn't find any code numbers on the new YUASA battery.he rang around different places trying to get the code number for that battery with no success. so at this point i told to re fit the old battery why i got some advise of this forum. so can anyone advise me on what i need to do please? cheers kev
  20. car started ok today as i had took it for 30mins drive on motorway yesterday, anyway took it on the motorway again and decided to call into a indy garage see if they could check the battery for me and with the engine not running the guy checked the battery with a multi meter and the battery was giving (12.2v) started the car and under load i.e starting it went to (11.0v) put head lights on with the car ticking over and the battery gave a reading of (14.8) nearly (15.00v) so he went and got another tester and put that on, a red light came on meaning there is a problem with the alternator so he recons the alternator is cooking the battery by over charging it. he has told me to take it home get the charger on it so it is fully charged and take it back to him tomorrow and he will re test it, so as it stands now i may have to get the alternator fixed + maybe a new battery if the alternator has cooked it. this is one of the reasons i didn't want to rush out and replace the battery in the first place trial by pocket i call it lol any advice would be appreciated kev p.s at no time has a warning light come on the dash to tell me i have a battery problem!
  21. can anyone tell me what readings the battery should be giving ? in the morning before i start the car ? and when the car is running ? dose the reading on the battery change if you pick the revs up a bit? cheers kev
  22. sorry put the wrong sizes it should be ( 101mm ) and ( 136mm ) cheers kev
  23. the oil and filter change on my dsg gearbox is up before to long, on my (2013 2.0 tdi 170bhp 4x4 superb) so i am looking at getting all the bits i will need.i have been reading up on how to tackle the job but i just have a couple of questions if ok? i read one of the old threads on this subject and it was really good the guy who put the thread up went into great detail backed up with pics nice one! the dsg filter was excess-ed by taking the battery tray and air box off,but i have seen a way to do the job just by taking the air box off and getting the filter lid off by using a vag 24mm dsg filter cup socket tool and to me this looks to be the easier option. first question there are two options for this tool a short one of (1001mm) and one of (1036mm) which one of these is the correct one for my car? if the job is done this way am i right in thinking there will be no need for VCDS ? thanks kev
  24. 2013 superb estate,i fitted new wiper blades front and back a couple of months ago (bosh aerotwins) very easy to fit and do a great job hope this helps! kev
