not to much to be honest just done Christmas and sent for a ctek 5.0 i just didn't want to end up buying some piece of c--p that wont do the job if you see what i mean ? one of my first jobs to do with one is change the servicing schedule to every 6,000miles instead of every 10,000 like the othere owner has had it on, and code the stop/start so it dosnt come on so if you can recommend an idiot friendly one that will do as good a job as the bottom end ones can lol on a budget ? cheers kev

thanks for all the input lads think i may have sorted my problem now, i think it may have just been a case of 2 things me not using the car that often it is summer when i do a lot of miles and the really cold snap we are having. started it up this morning, and started up strait away and it was -3 here? so with a bit of luck i will plug it up to a ctek 5.0 and let it give the battery a good charge and keep a better eye on the condition of my battery it may save me having to buy a battery well this year anyway lol thanks again and hope this thread is of some help to any other members, atb kev

hi chaps, my 1st time on this section of the forum ! i had a bit of a problem recently with my battery the weather got col lol any way i may have sorted that problem by purchasing a ctek 5.0 battery charger/conditioner for my 2013 superb 2.0L 170bhp 6speed auto dsg 4x4 i know that nearly everyone on here use vcds or a version of it, but can anyone recommend one of these plug in hand held jobbys ? i know that it wouldn't do the job of a vcds kit but to be honest i just couldn't afford anything like that at the moment plus it would probably be to complected for me lol so i would be looking at getting one of those plug in to the usb port and connect to a phone via blue tooth or one of the type you hold in you hand? looking for one thats idiot friendly lol and on a budget ? cheers kev

update! yesterday i put that little jump starter on it and it started strait away the day before i tried a good set of jump leads on to my daughters car and nothing just clicking any way took the little jump starter off soon as car started left to tick over for 5/10 mins turned it off and tried to start it again on its own and fired up strait away left the car until about 7pm or so tried it again started strait away 1st crank but got the feeling it may not of had another crank in it, so took it for a 30min drive on the motoway then parked up today i tried to start it around 10am or so.it had sat though the cold all last knight and it started first crank again so i have left it sat there just ticking over for about 40 mins just until it got to running temp! and that is where i am upto now. please correct me if wrong but it looks like the battery may not be a dud if it was no good it wouldn't of held charge like it did would it? do you think i would be better off holding off on the new battery for now and get one of these ctek chargers so i can try and bring this battery up to scratch again? cheers kev

RRRR right my car is a 2013 2.0 tdi 170 bhp elegance with the 6 speed auto it has all the usual electrics + dash cam front and back lights come one when i unlock the car and open doors i am presuming they may be fetchers the last owner put on he did say that he had looked after the car with vcds or would they be factory settings? if i do upgrade a little would it then need re coding as the new battery is slightly different ? cheers kev

p.s if anyone is interested! on some of the posts people where putting up on another thread i was reading they where interested in these small jumper starters and any recommendations i can give you the details off this one my mate borrowed me all i can say is it worked really well on my car and the battery was as flat as a witches T-T lol YABER Car Jump Starter 1600A Peak 20000mAh Car Battery Booster Dual QC3.0 USB put this in on you tube and thats the one hope this helps sorry dont know how to put a link up cheers kev

i couldn't tell you how old the battery is i only bought the car a few months ago from a private seller? could any one tell me if i would be better of slightly upgrading the battery or replace with the exact same one? the battery that is on it now is a VARTA agm 68AH 380A DIN 680A EN/SAE/GS and there is a lot more with different AH and A some quite a bit more and some with just a bit more ? could i get problems if i try and upgrade the battery a bit or would it be ok? the way i was thinking is if i upgraded a little it would be less strain on the new battery and there for last longer ? please feel free to tell me if i have it wrong cheers kev

right an update my mate told me to try the jump starter he has its one of these small hand held jobs if you remember i tried a good set of jump leads and my daughters car to try and start it last knight with no luck just clicking so put this starter pack thing on live to the the red terminal and earth to the earthing post next to the battery. and it has just started up immediately with no warning lights staying on, and started really easy with hardly one crank then took the jump starter strait off, seams to be a cracking little bit of kit. left the car running for 5mins turned it off then tried to re start strait away and it flicked up immediately but without the jumper start attached. do you think this battery is still no good and will need replacing ? or could it be saved some how? cheers kev

iam not shore my self to be honest but from what i have been reading if fitting a new battery you will need a diagnostic tool to re code the ecu to inform it you have fitted a new battery ? hope i have it wrong but i dont think so? cheers kev
