  1. thanks! so is it the blower motor that goes down i.e works then stops working intermittently and then is it a case of replacing the hole motor blowing unit or is it something that plugs into the motor like a resistor ? cheers kev
  2. hi there, i have a heater blower problem (i think) on my (2013 superb estate 170bhp 2.0 tdi dsg 4x4) the other day my heater blower would not come on at all all the little buttons and heated seats still working but the fan would not come on, so i left the blower on full i.e all the little green lights on full so i could hear if it started working again about half an hour later it just came on and worked as normal, yesterday it did the very same thing no fan/blower at all then just started working of its own accord. is there a common fault with the blower motor on this model ? or is there something els that is usually the problem? cheers kev!
  3. just an update, i got a very helpful member of the forum to plug his vcds in and it found the fault to be the swivel module left mechanical failure. so i told the mechanic of the results we had using vcds he said it sounds like something could be out of place or something and to leave it with him and he will sort it out for me i got a phone call hour or so later saying all done come and pick it up. the mechanic came out to have a quick word with me and apologised for any inconvenience and told me he had trapped a wire when replacing and that was stopping the swivel module from moving freely so he freed the wire put it where it should be and job done. so headlights and dsg gear box thermostat all done. hopefully this will be the end of the jobs on my superb for a while i have spent a fare bit on her over the last month or so, (cambelt, tensioner and pully) (water pump) (dsg oil and filter) (front and rear diffs) (haldex oil and filter) (and just the headlight bulbs and dsg thermostat ) so fingers crossed she will behave her self for a bit lol thanks for all the help and advice much appreciated kev!
  4. thanks for reply! kev
  5. update not good picked my car up from garage today after having the dsg thermostat replaced and the new d3s xenon's fitted couldn't rely check the head lights until later when dark the temp seems to be behaving its self back to normal, problem is the 2x new d3s xenon's bulbs are all over the place at first the bulb faliar light on the dash came on soon as the head light where turned on so turned them off and on a couple of time then the warning light stayed off but the lights are next to useless it was only when i took it on a unlighted road i.e country lane i realised the normal dipped beam was on the floor right in front of the bonnet of the car then put high beam on and they where next to useless dull as hell. i will be going back to the garage tomorrow to get it sorted, could any of you lads or lasses tell me what has probably happened i.e is it something they have done or not done? will it be just a case of relining them up properly or am i just wishful thinking? any help advice would be appreciated before morning if poss, so i have some understanding of what they start telling me if you know what i mean lol cheers kev!
  6. cheers buddy! i will nip and see what they will charge me tomorrow thanks again kev
  7. yea thanks mine is the face lift September 2013 so it will be one of the early ones! i will see how much the indi garage i use are going to charge me for labour? the thing that was worrying my was the drivers side head light started flickering i thought it was my eye playing trick night vision then it started turning off and back on it was then i realize it could be dangerous if approaching a junction or what ever the car weighting to pull out may think i have flashed him out and pull out strait in front of me, hence the reason for pushing for info , so i can get it sorted sooner rather than later. cheers kev
  8. thank you! now ordered from amazon i hope these are the right ones lol the problem was every site i was looking for the bulbs give me deferent results i.e d1s , d2s then on other sites just said these bulb dose not fit my vehicle, the only thing i can think of is that my car is a late 2013 and i think one of the early facelift models? and i now find out it is a pretty big job just to replace your headlight bulbs. can the job be done through the inner wheel arch? or dose the front bumper have to come off? cheers kev
  9. thank you! i will have a look now cheers kev

  14. doing a little reading on them it sounds like the bulb is on its way out, had a look on line and there is lots of choice, make/ power/ price. could you tell me the make i should be looking for? what power? and at what sort of price i should be paying, i don't want to go paying for over priced parts but i don't want to go buying cheap copies. is it recommended to replace the two bulbs at the same time or is it ok to just replace the faulty one? cheers kev!
  15. it very well could be a 4x4 thing, i don't know why it would be though. the part i have order has got the exact same part number in its listing as the one that was supposedly wrong so god knows.
  16. yesterday i noted one of my headlights was flickering then started turning off and back on regularly thought it may when i was going over a pot hole (has anybody noted how bad the roads are latterly) but it is going off and on for no apparent reason. is this the first signs of the bulb being on its way out? is it a common fault? has anyone els had this problem? cheers kev

  18. Got a phone call today telling me i had ordered the wrong part for my car dsg thermostat, so i went back to take a look at the threads i have been reading on this site, where i had got the part number from (1K0121113A) every time i put a search in for this part and give the details for my car it tells me that the part is not suitable for my vehicle, (2013 superb 20lt 170bhp cr 6speed dsg 4x4) cheers kev
  19. thank you very much that is very helpful, your a gent! cheers kev
  20. no it took the time i would expect really, i have ordered the new thermostat any way so i will be getting that fitted any way the only problem i have now is getting the correct anti freeze to put in i may have to do a full antifreeze and water change. i have not long had the cam belt and water pump done and the garage put some fresh antifreeze in then, problem is the antifreeze that the garage has put in his pink and when going on line to order a gallon of it they are all saying ( yellow or violet ) all i know is it is supposed to be ( G13/G12+) ? cheers kev
  21. drove car today and temp needle was working fine worked its way up to 90c and stayed there so how is it working ok if the inline thermostat was faulty? cheers kev!
  22. need a little help chaps looking at the header tank on the car the colour of the coolant is like a water down pink but i have been advised on line to use ebay number 173796554234 sorry don't know how to put a link up. i am now thinking that the garage that did my cam belt and water pump may have put the wrong coolant in ? cheers kev
  23. only had cam belt water pump and tensioners + antifreeze done a couple of weeks ago. it gives you so many choses in colour so i had a look under the bonnet and its like a watered down pink so i didn't want to go and get yellow or what ever and its not compatible! cheers kev
  24. am i right in thinking that (g13) is the correct antifreeze for my car? or is it (g12+) ? problem is i just looked at the header tank on my car and it looks like a (watered down pink) and the one that on line sites are recommending are (purple)? which one is correct? cheers kev
  25. (2013 superb elegance 170bhp 6speed auto 4x4) right done a bit of research and the problem seems to be pointing at the dsg thermostat, situated under the air box. thanks very much for a point in the right direction! p.s i did read that it is important to get the right thermostat for your car i.e stat opens at the correct temp! dose any one know what is the correct temp for my car ? and what make of part am i better looking for? cheers kev
