thanks for your in-depth reply but i don't wont to have to change the 18s that are already fitted, a set of 18s trinity alloys in anthracite i think you would agree to buy a nice set of alloys that look as nice as mine do + a full set of new tyres would be far to expensive. what would 3.5% raise in the gearing mean? cheers kev

would it be ok for me to change the tyre size to (225/45/18) FROM (225/40/18 ) the reason being the roads where i live are getting steadily worse each year and when you get on the B roads some of the pot holes are like open manholes you know the ones, the ones that make you cringe thinking that will be my alloy cracked, so i thought as i will be looking for a full set of new tyres soon would it be a good time to get tyres with a slightly higher profile (225/45/18) do you think this would be ok to do ? my car is ( 2013 mk2 face lift dsg 170bhp 4x4 ) cheers kev!

Are you looking for tyres to go on your existing wheels, or a set of wheels with tyres? a set of wheels with tyres, i thought i would see if i can pick up some wheels with winter tyres on then get a full set of summer tyres on the original wheels as all 4x tyres on my original wheels have been given as a advisory on my very resent mot test cheers kev

thanks for all the help! i was toying with the idea of putting a set of winter wheels and tyres together and that way i can get a set of summer tyres on my good wheels i.e the anthracite tiffany's 18s, and get a set of winter tyres put on to a set of 16s i have got off my old 55plate Octavia estate i used to have if they will fit on my superb? would my old set of 55plate Octavia wheels go on my superb which are running on 225/40/18? if the 16s off the 55plate Octavia estate will fit, what size winter tyres would i need to have fitted? hope that all makes sense. cheers kev p.s what is peoples opinions on Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons? or would it be best to fit a full winter tyre?

i am in the market for some new tyres ! can people give me some recommendations so i can look at some different makes and prices ? i cant afford Michelin bit to pricey for me, but i don't want budget ones either, i will be looking for 4 tyres fitted, hence cant afford 4 Michelins they are for my (2013 superb estate 4x4 170bhp) cheers kev

hi there, the drivers door electric window through its rag in the other day luckily it stuck closed instead of open, the motor was still working but it sounds like the regulator is mangled so i got one of them replacements off ebay around £30 or so anyway had the new regulator fitted and soon as he tried the window it mangled that new one as well, i have been told to get an original part is there something els that could be at fault as i don't want to pay for another new part for it to get mangled strait away again? and will i need to get the regulator from a skoda dealer or would i be ok to get one cheaper on line but look for one made by the same company as the one i would get from skoda them selves ? what name of manufacturer should i be looking for? cheers kev!

so will i need one of those new regulators that are on ebay ? it looks like all of the cables and cogs are there apart from the motor but i can hear that working if i try to use the window. or do i need to get a oem part? cheers kev

hi there, just went to put my window down a little and pulled the switch up instead of down, i heard a load of racket come from inside the door and the sound of something snapping or cracking either way not a good sound the window will not move now but i can hear the motor working any idea what could have happened? or is there a common problem with the window mechanisms? cheers kev

right thanks so its likely to be the motor its self and not one of the other things like resistors and the likes ? think i will give the hammer a miss knowing my luck al swing the hammer miss and hit something els then that will need fixing lol cheers kev

thanks! so is it the blower motor that goes down i.e works then stops working intermittently and then is it a case of replacing the hole motor blowing unit or is it something that plugs into the motor like a resistor ? cheers kev i cant seem to find any threads to look at with same problem when my heater stops working i can turn it all off and try starting the blower on full so i can hear anything only thing i can hear is a very quiet buzzing sound only lasts about a second or so followed by a very low ticking sound and that only lasts about 2 or 3 seconds then nothing but i can be driving along some time later and it just starts working on its own ( i leave the blower on full so i can hear if it starts up again) hope that makes sense lol. cheers kev 9i
