  1. Nothing pure about freezing all teams engine development due to blackmail - in order to stop the 2 Red Bull teams leaving. :( Honda better make sure the contact with RBR is watertight. They wouldn't really want their engines being re-branded Audi or Peugeot when RBR decide to rent the cam covers for more cash like they did with the Renault motor and TAG.
  2. Alonso hospitalised after cycle crash in Switzerland. No more news yet.
  3. 2021 BTCC confirmed entries so far West Surrey Racing BMW: Colin Turkington, Tom Oliphant, TBA Team Dynamics Honda: Dan Cammish, TBA Laser Tools Racing Infiniti: Ash Sutton, Aiden Moffat, Carl Boardley Motorbase/MB Ford: Jake Hill, Ollie Jackson, Sam Osborne, Andy Neate BTC Racing Honda: Josh Cook, Michael Crees, Jade Edwards Speedworks Motorsport Toyota: Rory Butcher, Sam Smelt Excelr8 Motorsport Hyundai: Tom Ingram, Chris Smiley, Jack Butel, TBA Ciceley Motorsport BMW: Adam Morgan, Tom Chilton Team Hard Cupra: Jack Goff, Aron Taylor-Smith, Glynn Geddie, TBA Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall: Jason Plato, TBA At least 8 fast rear wheel drive cars. How long before the rules are changed to handicap them more?
  4. Only a one year deal. They obviously want to try him out before committing.
  5. Last vacant F1 seat has gone Mercedes AMG have signed some guy called Hamilton I think. Quite a surprise that.
  6. Could the competitive order get shaken up this year? As usual teams are driving a coach and horses through the rule book. Originally for cost cutting reasons the 2020 cars were to carry over to 2021. Then Pirelli couldn't cope with the cars development so a downforce cut was mandated. Then Mclaren have a new engine needing major modifications which suspicious rivals think will end up being a new car. Now FI/RP/Aston Martin have built a completely new chassis (and are allowed to upgrade bought in 2019 parts to 2020 ones). Does this mean AM are going to pretty much run the 2020 Mercedes? Waiting for the RedBull protests already 🙄
  7. New Rio track formally scrapped. So another of Chase Carey's pet projects finally bites the dust. Hoping Saudi Arabia goes ahead, or the sum progress towards new GPs during his tenure will be absolutely zero.
  8. Factory long life bulbs are like little yellow candles. Many of here went for OSRAM Nightbreakers or Philips equivalents. Much better but only last about a year or so. I waited for my VW yellow bulbs to fail but they never did. Replaced the car before the bulbs You can use the search box (top right) to find old threads in this forum about it.
  9. Button to race XE for his own team.
  10. Good point... Maybe I could sell our other house in Yorkshire without her indoors knowing
  11. Hamilton and Mercedes still not publicly agreed a contract. The Daily Express and others insisting that Russell will replace him but most of the reporters online are failed F1 drivers like Jolyon Palmer and Christian Albers so they may be somewhat bitter? I honestly don't care if Hamilton retires or not, but can Mercedes afford to trust Bottas to outscore Verstappen for the WDC? However fast George is, its unlikely that he would beat Max in his first season at a top team.
  12. Even the cheaper version is the price of my home I don't think I'll be trading my flat in the Canaries for a Jap car any time soon...
  13. member on here @WolfyWesty has fitted an android big screen head unit successfully to a Rapid.
  14. Rapid big MPH display can be done with Carista App on their free trial... (if you have access to a compatible OBDII reader that is) Post mid-2015 OEM Rapid / Toledo Head units are incompatible with your car, so you're best off putting an aftermarket Android in. Those on here that have done it report the steering wheel control buttons still work probably the MFD too.
  15. 2020 V2 coming along as expected, I see. Reports that Monaco, Baku and Montreal races are already looking like possible cancellations, joining China, and the delayed Autralian GP. Still no confirmation yet of Portimao for May 2nd.
  16. I was going to order them here: Headlights SKODA Rapid Hatchback (NH3) 1.2 TSI 105 HP » low prices (autodoc.co.uk)
  17. Moving to the EU? I considered doing this on our Ibiza and taking it to Tenerife. New headlights, new taillights, £750 transit costs + hundreds of pounds in Spanish Matriculation / Registration and no guarantee of passing the Spanish ITV (MoT) in the Canaries anyway. In 6 months I might have had a car that needed driving back to the UK (another £750) and converting back so I didn't bother. Easier and cheaper to buy a LHD car.
  18. Season delayed till May. Cicely swap to BMW from Mercedes.
  19. Takes me back. Had to move away in 2008. Must go visiting in Moray after Covid.
  20. Love your NorthEast 250 logo. My favourite bit is to the South of Tomintoul and the Lecht, over the top to Ballater.
  21. They haven't learned have they? Diversifying from the F1 core business in 2010 just happens to coincide with a decade long slump in Grand Prix does it? Road cars, GT racing, more recently Indycar, and now the possibility of FE. All of these things distract from Mclaren Racing. Years ago Ferrari raced works teams in Sports cars, Prototypes, F2, Hill climbing even, and went 11 years without a WDC (only regaining competitiveness when they dumped all the other stuff). Unbelievably they never used to do any F1 development until after the 24 hours in June! Obviously MCL aren't that bad, but when Chapman's Lotus tried to become a serious road car builder in the late 70's it started the rot that put the race team out of business 16 years after their last WDC.
  22. McLaren sign option to join Formula E from 2022. 😮 Just as Audi BMW and Mercedes are thought to be leaving. What's that about?
  23. Management changes already at Renault. I think we discussed this before and thought it would be friction between Alonso and Cyrill/Prost that would cause this, but the board have brought in Davide Brivio, and Mr Abiteboul is out on his velo, so to speak.
  24. WRC regs and TV contracts wouldn't stand for a rally that started in the Midlands, dashed off to Wales and Scotland before day 4 in the North East. They always have compact routes around a central Service base/Media hub. Mind you, since the GB rally isn't in the WRC next year, yes, why not run an old style one-off RAC for all comers.
  25. Move it back to Chester? Or a base that could use Kielder forest? Its such a shame the old style RAC is too long and too spread out a route to fit the current WRC format.
