  1. Istanbul and Jerez possible additions to the 2020 schedule in November according to much of the motoring media. Both great tracks.
  2. Q1 live on ESPN USA.
  3. Slow times. Friday was substantially quicker. Tyre saving for qually and race I guess?
  4. Dovi to leave Ducati after ongoing negotiations fail. Will they bring Lorenzo back next year? Or pair Miller with another youth?
  5. Friday RedBull race pace right there with Mercedes. Qually maybe not, still a second off, but Sunday should be good.
  6. Video here. https://racer.com/2020/08/13/alonso-unhurt-in-indy-crash/ One of the gentler Indy Speedway crashes thankfully.
  7. FIA attempting to slow down Mercedes on all fronts. Party mode for qualifying banned after this weekend. Whose idea was that? Ferrari or RedBull? Also the money saving 2020/21 carry over rules are now being amended to reduce car downforce ( because Pirelli can't make a tyre for Silverstone ). Ludicrous - millions of pounds will now be wasted redesigning the cars that were supposed to do 2 seasons unchanged. Why not make Pirelli spend some money instead of the teams?
  8. Now that Motorsport has restarted there are so many events every weekend, its taking me till Friday to catch up some weeks, what with F1, BTCC, MotoGP and WSB all on the same Sundays. So you don't miss any, here is the all Formulas schedule link on Motorsport.com https://www.motorsport.com/all/schedule/upcoming/
  9. Perez fit to drive at Montmelo. Welcome back Checo.
  10. Williams now withdraw appeal against Racing Point, so all the Mercedes teams are aligned. Only Renault who started it, and Ferrari (who cheat anyway) left in. RedBull not getting involved, apart from Horner sniping at Mercedes as usual. I think RedBull Racing probably have plenty to hide about copying - what with both their teams being supplied by (marginally) 3rd party company Red Bull Technology.
  11. McLarens appeal against Racing Point has been dropped. I saw a photo of Wolff chatting to Brown at Silverstone Sunday. Caption must have been "How slow will your car's be next year with no engines fatty?"
  12. Amazing. Totally reflected F1 in that the previously dominant rider and team couldn't make the tyres work this week. Well done KTM - apart from Pol who made 2 mistakes in 2 successive corners, fell off and threw his toys out. Many observers including Casey Stoner blamed him for the collision. Clearly KTM won't miss him next year anyway ( and he hasn't a hope against Marquez at Honda ) Nice to see Olivera congratulate Binder on the track after his immature bitching at KTM when Binder got the works bike.
  13. Search the ICE forum on here for Columbus. Also I think @Rustynuts has a commercial page on here too.
  14. An OEM alternative with a bigger screen that does go in your car is the Columbus (RNS 510) but that is too old for Android Auto etc as far as I know. Expert on fitting them here (and sometimes has used ones for sale) is @Rustynuts
  15. The link on ebay is just to a screen. All the electronics in the newer VW Head Units are in the Rapids glove box
  16. That is Amundsen Plus from the older Rapid. (VW RNS315) The newer factory units from 2015 onwards are NOT compatible with your car. Most go for a Chinese Android big screen one when upgrading.
  17. Wow. How many Hondas broke down at Brands Hatch? Race 2 was the first without a Honda in the points for 5 years. Giving another title to Turk on a plate at the moment.
  18. Maybe the issue was Siverstone specific. Merc have already won 3'races on the C2 C3 C4 option this year.
  19. Indeed the hardest Pirelli compounds are in use at Montmelo C1C2C3.
  20. Depends which team they want to win 😉
  21. Big tyre management issues this week. It's hotter and the tyres are softer. The teams have 8 sets of softs that they don't want to use, and don't last a whole qually lap, but only 3 sets of medium, which seems to be the best qually tyre, and 3 sets of hard. In practice they're mostly using softs because they need to keep the better tyres for Q2 and the race.
  22. All kicking off in the paddock. 1. McLarens Zak Brown barely short of accusing Mercedes of colluding with RP. (Hope his new engine supply contract with Merc is watertight). Intends to appeal FIA verdict. 2. Ferrari will appeal the FIA Racing Point verdict re the parts now being approved for use this season. People in glass houses FFS. Maybe some other team will formally protest the FIA Ferrari engine decision scandal too. 3. RP pointing out that Haas and Toro Rosso (alphatauri) also use other teams Brake ducts, and considering their own counter-appeal against verdict. 4. Renault will appeal the verdict too.
  23. Renault protest upheld. Racing Point docked 15 points, fined 400k. Unclear if they will appeal or if Mercedes will get dragged in now. I have to think that Renault and RedBull better be so squeaky clean after their mud slinging at the Mercedes teams so far this season or it will come back and bite them on the ass pretty quick.
