  1. Hulk gets another go at Racing Point after Checo's latest test results.
  2. You can see Templehof on much older footage than that Ken. It was a major Nazi prestige project (with secret aircraft factory underneath too!).
  3. If you actually do drive for enjoyment, rather than to get to enjoyment, a Rapid may not be for you. After 6 years in more than one of them I can tell you the flexing chassis, soggy handling and a so-so ride don't make it remotely sporty. The 1.2TSI is a whole lot lighter and a bit better as a result, but it's still a very old parts bin special chassis built down to a price for developing markets. That said the 1.6tdi+DSG combo seems very refined in my daughter's Leon, and that is a really good drive but then it's mostly Golf Mk7 underneath, not Golf Mk4 (like the Rapid).
  4. I expect so - he isn't yet signed for next year. If he doesn't sign up for some reason - you can bet the Verstappens will be in there like a rat up a drainpipe.
  5. Bo77as today announced as 2021 driver for Mercedes. That'll be disappointing news in the Vettel and Verstappen households.
  6. Pirelli have blamed the longer than planned stint length for the tyre failures. Since everyone did the same stint length due to the safety car, that would seem to indicate Mercedes and Mclaren have the most downforce?
  7. Well, the petrols are no better mate. I left a 2 year old 1.2 TSI parked for a few months and the turbo actuator seized - leading to a new turbo.🙁 I've just had a 2 year old 1.0 TSI fail the exact same way after 8 weeks parked up.☹️ Moral. Do not under any circumstance buy a VW turbo if you don't plan on driving it regularly. 😒
  8. Marquez to miss Brno after the titanium plate in his arm broke! He's been in surgery again today to replace it and is staying in hospital 48 hours.
  9. Japan built, tuned by an Italian in Scotland, and about a second a lap quicker...with no testing mileage at all Somehow I think Mr Gow will cripple this thing like he did the Subaru. At the next meeting they'll probably only be allowed 3 spark plugs. Unless Alan just relies on Turk knocking it off the track again.
  10. Didn't Ferrari have a double front tyre failure at Silverstone while leading a couple of years ago? 2017. They weren't leading but ended up 3rd and 7th after 2 tyre failures.
  11. If Verstappen didn't pit on lap 51 he would have won by 20 seconds. He's not lucky at all.
  12. 22 and a bit hours to go for RedBull's video forensic squad to get the front row penalised like they already did in Austria. ☹️ Obvious bits to look at: Bottas - Purple in every sector when Hamilton spun in front of him. Hamilton - slow in sector 3 when a McLaren came up behind on a fast lap. Should be worth a 3 place grid penalty each. 🙄
  13. Red Bull a whole second off pole!... for the 3rd GP on the trot. I saw Brundle wrote last week about Max leaving for Mercedes, this result is surely going to increase the chance of that happening, although Lewis is talking about 3 more years.
  14. Glimmer of hope for the other teams yesterday with Mercedes unable to find working setup in the heat. Stroll or Hulkenburg for the front row or the win?
  15. New isolation rules mean Perez misses both Silverstone events.
  16. Positive for Perez so no race for him.
  17. Perez having a Covid retest after inconclusive result. Esteban Gutierrez (remember him?) likely replacement.
  18. ... just so Ferrari and Maserati could rack up some wins when they were having a poor year in the World Championship. Found quite a few occasions in the 50's and 60's where the Brits rocked up and kicked their asses though, most famously Tony Brooks in the Connaught at the '55 Syracuse GP becoming the first all-British driver and car combination to win a GP since 1923.
  19. 3 world championship races yes. But Italy, like Britain, used to run non championship F1 events all over the place.
  20. The sequence of 6th/7th gear bends from the top of the circuit ...wow! 290kph esses all the way down the hill.
  21. Suzuki did it too. Michelin recommended it for everyone. Certainly Mercedes F1 have done it in the past when the soft tyres were their Achilles heel. A short heat cycle in practice improved the race tyre life.
  22. Mugello F1 onboard simulation: Jeez that's quick. It'll be one of the fastest circuits all year.
  23. Read about the tyre preparation Fab did, that no-one else but Rins did too. Michelin recommended putting a 3 lap heat cycle on the race tyres in warmup, but everyone else went with brand new tyres at the grid. Worth at least 0.3 a lap apparently. Good choice by Fabio and his engineers.
  24. Albon gets new race engineer, guy used to run Riccardo at RBR before taking factory role.
