  1. I’ve experienced this a few times on my Octavia mark 4, 1.5tsi. Last time was about a month ago, car lost all power as I approached a roundabout. Instant chaos behind me, managed to get it moving again but very slowly, then it seemed to wake up and then same thing again within a minute! Engine seemed to be on, definitely not stop start engaging, a very dangerous situation, which could easily have caused an accident. Also had this with my mark 3 Octavia with the same engine.
  2. I’m the same height, can’t say that I’ve had any comfort issues with my SEL Estate car in the two years plus that I’ve had it. Loads of leg room and the steering wheel easily reachable. Seat is high enough too, any higher and my head would be hitting off of the roof!
  3. I posted recently over on the Karoq forum about driving my parents fairly new car and it launching into a full emergency stop on a completely clear road. Front Assist warning lights and beeps, with nothing at all in front of the car or on side of the road, nearly ended up with car behind me embedded in the rear bumper as the car screeched to a halt on its own. Obviously, not a safety feature 🙈 Can’t say I’ve had much luck with Front Assist in any Skoda car that I’ve ever had, it’s very temperamental and not reliable in its operation!
  4. False warnings are pretty much par for the course with Front Assist but it doesn’t often do the emergency braking. My first Skoda Octavia gave me the warning light the very first time I drove it, a loud screech and a warning symbol. Apparently, it didn’t understand that not all roads are straight and that the hazard it picked up was a car on the other side of the road. Garage hadn’t a clue what it was though! That symbol wasn’t included in the owners manual at that time.
  5. I’ve had issues with this technology on various Skoda cars, including Octavia’s and a Yeti. Driving my parents 72 reg Karoq 1.5 DSG the other day, on a country road. Nothing in front of me, nothing on the side of the road. When next thing, Front Assist warning light comes on and car goes into full emergency braking. Car behind nearly ran into the back of the Karoq, not what I’d call a safety feature! Had similar experiences on other Skoda’s too, definitely not a fan of this technology 😂
  6. Favourites kind of works for a while but my car will randomly lose saved stations every so often, forcing me to resave stations all over again. It’s done that at least four times already, something that never happened with my mark 3 car.
  7. There isn’t a 1.6 diesel option any longer, just a lower powered 2 litre diesel instead.
  8. Occasional warnings are about par for the course with this car, I’ve had loads since I got mine. Front Assist is often temporarily unavailable for instance and other random things too!
  9. More boxes today, seat belt warning lights flashed off and on when braking going down a hill. Meantime the Park Assist warning light came on when I started the car… Obviously, sensors are way too sensitive. Nothing much I can do to control them, all anyone can do is fold rear seats down. Nothing squab related to move around in the back of the car either. Seats go up, seats go down. The end.
  10. All the Octavia cars that I’ve had have had the variable load floor. An estate car should be able to handle anything it can carry without silly warning lights and lots of noise. I was carrying some boxes in it today and this time no chimes or flashing lights. Who knows why? Mind you this particular car likes warning lights for no good reason and has given me a fair few since I’ve had it. Front Assist temporarily unavailable was popular during the middle of winter virtually every journey plus a few other random ones to do with Park Assist and other random things. Plus first time I drove it there were warning chimes with my dog sitting on the back seat with his harness clipped into the seat belt holder. I think the technology in these cars is less reliable than the mark 3 models. Infotainment system is very poor. Radio took months to stabilise and stop trying to reprogram ever saved station and the phone part of it still won’t let me save favourite numbers. Such is “progress” Skoda style!
  11. I’ve carried loads of stuff over the years in various estate cars, never, ever had a car carry on like this one does! With the seats down, the rear of the car is pretty flat inside. I’ve been carrying some fairly heavy and large bits of glass to my shop. With that kind of load, the rear seats are going to be as compressed as is possible. I’ve carried similar loads on multiple occasions in my two Octavia 3 Estate cars. Not once did they ever think that there might be someone sitting on the folded down rear seat who might have forgotten to put their seat belt on but this car wins numpty of the year award with its determination to point out the error of my ways!
  12. Is there any way to carry items in an Octavia Estate car with the rear seats folded down and not get stupid warning lights and loud beeps telling me that the rear seat belts aren’t being used? Never had this issue with my Octavia 3 Estate car, must be an Octavia 4 bonus feature!
  13. Should be a great car! My father had the earlier model of V60 and I can honestly say that it’s the best car that I’ve ever driven with a manual gearbox. Smooth and easy to drive, much better than my manual Octavia in that regard!
  14. Had the same situation with my car last year. It reached the dealers late December 2021, I asked them if it was possible to wait until March to get the car. They said that if I did that there would be a big price increase on the monthly payments as prices had increased. Think I was very lucky all in all to order the car in July 2021 and receive it in January 2022.
  15. Not sure about the hatchback model but my old rubber mark 3 Estate boot liner actually fits perfectly in my mark 4 Estate with the variable raised floor. Worth trying if you happen to have an old boot liner handy.
  16. I gave up on using that App months ago when it just gave up working properly. No point in trying to get it working again now, as my car will be a year old in early January, at which point they expect me to pay for it. Zero chance of that happening!
  17. I think mine has been set at too low a temperature. Apparently, it is adjustable in the software settings. On my mark 3 car, the lowest setting was warmer than the highest setting on my current car!
  18. The heated seats are much cooler than the mark 3 model as well. I can drive around for an hour or so on its maximum setting.
  19. That’s the most obvious thing to alter on the car for a facelift update. My own car looks great from the side and the back but a bit clumsy looking, when looking at the front.
  20. Thanks John, used to do photography years ago for Tourist Boards and Calendars!
  21. I see a fair few mentions of software issues with these cars, just wondering whether a software update would actually fix this? Since collecting my SEL Estate car in January it has given me a wide variety of different warning notifications. Everything from parking brake, hillhold, front assist, parking sensors as being faulty or not working. The messages usually vanish after a short time but are annoying. Last night when returning to the car after a walk photographing local waterfalls. I found the screen showing me this. Clima with a green circle moving around it and heated seats blanked out. Tried switching it off and on again but was stuck with it like that all the way home. Today it was back to normal again but it makes a mockery of what is fundamentally a good car, when you can’t access simple functions like heated seats or air conditioning because Skoda removed the buttons and left them as virtual blobs on a screen. Obviously, the infotainment system has issues. I find it remarkably unfriendly to use, having to delve into menus to adjust the air conditioning. It still won’t let me set favourite contacts on my iPhone and every so often reprogrammes my preset radio stations. Switching the station I’m trying to change to, making it the same as the station it was on originally. I wish they’d left the infotainment system and physical buttons much the same as in the mark 3 Octavia!
  22. I’ve got a 2022 UK spec SEL estate car. The heated seats are standard but heated steering wheel was an optional extra bundled together with a heated windscreen. Has Skoda UK changed the SEL specification recently? I would have liked the heated windscreen but it became quite expensive when combined with the heated steering wheel which I didn’t particularly want.
  23. It isn't a huge deal, I never had that feature on my last Octavia which was funnily enough also an SE Tech model but I do have it on my current car. It works well enough most of the time, depending upon which pocket you've got the car "key" in! Car makers always try to differentiate between models, often times with features which cost very little to them, just so you'll buy a slightly more expensive car to get that particular feature or add it as an extra cost option. Like you say, this particular feature could probably be activated by coding, surprised they haven't added it as an extra cost option via the Skoda Connect app.
  24. I had problems with mine too, decided to delete the App completely as it doesn't seem to do anything very useful. Okay if its free but definitely not worth paying for after the first year.
  25. After having the car about two days trying to put a lot of bulky items in the boot on a cold winters day, the last thing you’d expect is to be unable to remove the luggage cover because someone secretly redesigned it to be two pushes rather than one! I had the manual out too, couldn’t find it in time. As I said not intuitive, if they want to change things like that, the best way is to tell people when they collect their new car. I thought the cover was faulty and didn’t want to break it…
