  1. Sorry, forgot about this. I think the pin not lifting enough could be due to a different/shorter solenoid on the chinese replacement. I have to unlock the door manually with resistance from the internal motor and then unlock the other doors with the switch on the drivers door, its very odd...
  2. It was not too bad, just a bit fiddly with the power cable from the battery being done neatly, maybe one for the warmer weather
  3. To be honest you will not see much of an increase in SQ...best option is to upgrade the head unit and also fit a small 8" active subwoofer in the boot [fitted mine in the door pocket], like night and day then
  4. Or we could leave the standard bulbs in place
  5. I had the door lock module replaced on my mk1 due to interior lights, puddle and dash light not coming on. The module is now swapped and they do come on now, however when unlocking the door from the drivers side (i have to use the key itself due a pre existing issue with the central locking fob), all doors do not unlock and its as if I have to manually raise the drivers door with the key. The solenoid does open and close using the drivers side interior door control...but not the key. Also the locking pin does not to see to travel as far as the original and would be flush with the door when closed...any ideas guys
  6. Thanks for the reply. So the main scraper seal will detach cleanly? I am just looking at replacing the flat part of the seal, hopefully not disturbing the entire thing & quarter glass if possible?
  7. Hi folks Im getting my mk1 repainted soon and want to also freshen up the window seals as they are bubbling in the corners (front and rear). The front 'scraper' seal is seperate to the frame exterior seal, so an easy swap. However, the rear scraper seal is available but seems bonded / glued onto the frame seal itself. Has anyone changed one of these before?
  8. Im not sure, Im no expert on air con. Do any of the other climatronic direction controls help? As long as the pollen filters clear, whether youre on fresh air or recirc wont matter as mentioned. Are the AC pipes also getting cold after running (they run along the bulkhead in the bay) if so, maybe the climatronic unit...worth a shot if you have one handy? I think they have an inbuilt temperature sensor on the front of the unit too....food for thought.
  9. 4FA isnt detrimental to the correct operation of the climate control. Mine had the same issue (4fa), due to the recirc motor not working. I just set it to fresh air only manually moving the flap and unplugged the recirc motor. 4FA wont stop your climate working correctly.
  10. So the compressor is kicking in and both fans are spinning on the fan pack?
  11. Standard front speakers are 6.5", they may be the originals. I just changed mine today for some MB Quart component ones.
  12. Its well worth the fiddle of routing a power cable, but its night and day with/without. I have a small remote dial from the subwoofer in the drivers footwell, so I can control the level!! Its a Lanzar Vector I got from the states, think Vibe do active 8" ones too.
  13. The bass response on the standard system is awful. I can recommend fitting a small subwoofer in the boot pocket, works great. 8" speaker.
  14. Check breather hoses in engine also, as well as exhaust
  15. Get a remap, the standard one is very audible then, best of both worlds.
  16. If youre asking how, you probably shouldnt be doing it
  17. 06A145710N is the part number. The original however should be fine.
  18. Smoked rear clusters? The rear badge is also low, mine for reference
  19. Yes its very slightly different than the standard exhast tip. Have fun with those seats and carpet
