VRs Rear Anti Roll Bar Upgrade
What you do not want is the ARB over-riding the springs. That will cause handling problems. The ARBs should only be upgraded if the rest of the suspension is known to be good good. They should not be upgraded to compensate for weak springs. The ARB is just one part of the suspension and like anything should not be changed blindly. Increase thickness of front compared to rear it increases understeer, reduces oversteer, Thicker rear compared to the front reduces understeer, increases oversteer. The difference is not as important as how it fits the rest of the suspension. However I really cannot understand why Skoda put a 16mm rear ARB on some of these cars and made it wallow at the rear. It is not like a 22mm rear bar has launched it into wild oversteer, it simply handles like a normal car without the rear wallowing in every corner.

Battery replacement help - avoiding main dealer?
I think you were lucky! My second one was 4x4 heated everything, electrical everything and still got the Moll EFB That barely made it 3 years so I guess your Varta did better but i have a couple of Varta silvers still going strong at 10 years on other machines. That is what is on the octy now.

Approved Performance Parts/Companies
As above there is nothing approved for the Mk3 for general use. That was the Mk2 There was (and AFAIK still is) an approved Eibach kit for emergency service vehicles to raise the ride height and stiffen the suspension. However that does not translate to any other Eibach product on any other car

Battery replacement help - avoiding main dealer?
Just be aware that I do not know of any Octy that was fitted OEM with a Varta AGM. They had cheap EFB batteries usually made by Moll. There is a chance the battery has already been replaced (original EFB is unlikely to have lasted till now) It may not have been coded correctly in the first place I am surprised a Varta AGM is causing issue

VRs Rear Anti Roll Bar Upgrade
I don't have a vRS but found the same. The cars have a strong FARB of 24mm (same as a Golf 7R) but a weak RARB (18mm vRS, 16mm standard) when Golf sizes are 20mm and 22mm. I found the rear did wallow so changed the RARB to a standard Golf 7R one of 22mm. (you would need a GTi PP one if you are FWD) It fixed the problem. I would have said before that it was done to compensate for the wheelbase length difference between the Octy and the Golf but the problem with that is the handling has been spot-on for years since the change so at a loss for doing it other than cost and weight.

Vrs Tsi dsg owners
As above, the DSG reacts to your 'Driving Style' on an instantaneous basis, it uses the speed and aggressiveness with which you use the throttle to adjust the shift points. It does not 'remember' your driving style. Your car is MY15? Have you had it from new? If not it is not out of the bounds of possibility that a previous owner has done the 'throttle mod' VCDS tweaks and that has been reset to standard by an update done at the dealer. If that is the case the dealer will not be able to do very much.

S3 8p brakes to 1.4 tsi
To be honest, the rotational mass of the 8P brakes will probably take most of your 1.4's turning power just to get them going. To be honest, the rotational mass of those brakes will probably take most of your 1.4's turning power just to get them going so won't take much to stop. 312 front / 272 rear will be all you need, anything more on the back and it will be tail wagging the dog with the rear suspension on the 1.4. 345 front DO fit under standard Skoda 17" wheels (e.g.Terons) with no issue.

Anti-roll Bars
A rear ARB from something like a GTi would probably do the trick I had the same problem, a RARB from a Golf R sorted the problem. (mine is 4x4) The Octavia and the Golf have good front ARB but weak rear ARB. With standard suspension I would be careful going too strong on the ARB as it can override the suspension

MY16 MIB2 coding
Right! done most of the coding tick boxes on the new Octy Both fogs, rear tailgate etc etc. All slow with adaption maps before and after . Using 15.7.1 with one of Gendan's finest. All seem to be working with no lingering faults codes When I went to reset some things - I couldn't. "Mirrors" is missing in mirrors and wipers (it was there as I remember setting "fold when parked to OFF" coming home lights don't and I may find others but haven't missed anything else yet. Thought I was going mad until I read the snippit about MIB2 menus disappearing Question is how to get them back, is it a case of comparing the adaption maps before and after? I am fairly confident I made no changes other than I intended, and did no alterations near the menus that are affected can effects ripple through the system? Before I go through the process of re-tracing all the steps thought I would ask the question Any thoughts?
