  1. Why do you feel it is about to stall? My Roomster idles at 650rpm when warm (according to rev counter) and it is so smooth that it feels that the engine has stopped.
  2. The 1.2tsi engines 4-cylinder are chain driven and turbo charged. The 1.2tsi came in an 86bhp unit and 105bhp power units. 86bhp enjoys a lower insurance group. Mine is the 86bhp SE model registered in 2013. This came with rear parking sensors, rear disk brakes, alloy wheels, tinted rear glass. electric windows front and rear, and panoramic roof. I have owned it for 9 years and it has never let me down or has given me any problems.
  3. The switch is very imprecise and floppy when selecting the settings. Yes it seems that you are not selecting anything as it flops around. Select a function, for example the R mirror and see if you can adjust the mirror. If so move the rotary switch to the heating mode counting the clicks. It does feel that the switch is broken but it is the nature of the beast. The rear view window is only heated when pressing the button on the dash. The mirrors and rear window are separately heated.
  4. I have never used them as how do you know that you stick them correctly on the lenses? I have driven over in EU countries 8 years consecutively and have never been flashed even fully loaded. To be fair my Roomster dips the beams flat with no right or left bias. Our French friends drive in the UK with none either. The breathlyser scenario was never passed into law yet we were told to carry two on our vehicle. Our French friends just laughed at it.
  5. Just received an email from my Skoda dealer offering me a free complimentary software check. Is this a nationwide campaign or a local offer to increase revenue streams? I seem to think it is a diagnostic check rather than a software upgrade. I doubt if the CBZB engine is now supported and classed as a legacy product. Has anyone taken advantage of this Skoda offer and found any problems.
  6. Thank you every one for the advice. I have been spared the agony as sis-in-law has booked Fab in for cam belt change and has added it to the charge sheet.
  7. I guess it is a sod of a job as the online owners handbook mentions every other bulb replacement except that one. I saw a Youtube video of the tabs but could not see them on sis's-in-law as the mirror was so close to the cover. She says that she is taking it in for cambelt so they can do this as well. Plastic tabs with me break by just looking at them!!
  8. Sister-in-law has a Monte Carlo and has knocked her mirror and the indicator bulb has either become loose or knocked out of the holder. How do I remove the back cover to gain access to the indicator bulb? Are there any tabs to release or is it just pull off and snap-fit it back after? Thanks
  9. I got 68mpg on a 20 mile journey last spring at a speed not exceeding 50 mph. Yesterday evening I got 60mpg on the same journey. So your figures I share with you.
  10. Bought some CTEC Superfast Plus superglue which has appeared to have done the trick. Time will tell.
  11. I will mull over the ideas, thanks. As a temporary fix I have some strong and very sticky tape which sticks like **** to a blanket. Always something!!
  12. I must have ridden over a high kerb to spilt the plastic insert on the rear wheel I have tried Gorilla Superglue (shown by the white staining) and also Loctite Superglue but without luck as the material does not adhere. Can anyone advise what to use to secure the two surfaces?
  13. I had a replacement pcv valve replaced a couple of years ago and wonder if there is an easy check to ensure it is doing what it should? I have been considering pulling off the pipe which connects to the back of the valve and blocking the pipe with my finger to feel either a suction or a blow. Don't know which it should be. The engine will be idling so perhaps not much pressure or suction.
  14. Can you hear it inside the car? I hear a slight tapping and assume it is the fuel delivery pump pumping at a high pressure. Standing outside the car the engine makes a lot of ticking noises. It is the nature of the beast.
  15. I have a Roomster and been to France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands and never saw a police car. I bought a cheap Lidl general bulb kit in case I was stopped but never have been in 8 trips. Remember the breathyliser kits for France. Our French friends laughed when we told them they were mandatory. The law was proposed but never passed into law. In Germany they require you to carry a spare pair of driving glasses. I only found that out on our return.
  16. I have had two new tyres and yes, I only have 7mm depth from new. Another example of shrinkage.
  17. Thanks for your advice. I will clay the car carefully with plenty of lubricant. The car design has not helped. It is a Clubman and there is a vent from the front wheel arch which directs everything onto the lower door panel. The paint feels like the surface of the moon when my hand slides over it.
  18. I am reading this with interest. My son's Mini has swirl lines and the paint seems to have a lot of contaminants on the surface. I am toiling claying it or polishing it. I don't know if the previous owner drove the car regularly through a car wash, or carelessly used an electric polisher with a gritted pad. The car had been treated with a paint treatment called GuardX by the car supplier. I hope the polish or clay will easily remove this. The other option is to get the car professionally detailed.
  19. is it the same with the spare key?
  20. I would fit new disc pads along with the disc rotors as they wear together.
  21. Went into the local Skoda showroom yesterday and they only had 3 cars: Fabia, Kodiaq and Karoq. Seemed the cupboard was bare.
  22. This works also on the Roomster. This feature should have been mentioned in the owner's manual. Another omission is the double depress of unlock button to lock all doors as one press opens just the driver's door. How many other features are available but not logged?
  23. I have Ventus Prime3 but same design. Interesting to see if the wear comparison is shared between offside and nearside tyres.
  24. Mine moves on my 1.2tsi slightly when closed. It clicks shut. Never lose coolant
  25. 3000 miles ago I bought a front pair of Hankook tyres with AI marks around the tyre in a series of indents on the outer and inner tread. The purpose is that they should show equal amount of wear and to see if your tracking is out, or I suppose camber. I have attached a picture of the driver's side outer tread as an example. As anyone else experienced this feature and how accurate is it in practice? I have found their is minimal extra wear on the passenger's tyre with the small indentation with less depth but does road camber have to be considered?
