  1. So just to clarify, will the post-facelift bumper install directly [as-is, no mods req'd] into a pre-facelift car? and is this also applicable to the hatchback version as well? I have a hatchback and wanted to install the later bumper with the extra reflector lights in lieu of the original bumper on my car? oh and yes my car has factory fitted reversing sensors in the bumper as well. If someone more knowledgeable than me could answer this then it would huuuuuugely and most sincerely appreciated! Ta.
  2. I haven’t [as yet] but, very grateful indeed for your guidance, I will do. 🤝 P.S. This VCDS software is not very good in that you can only make one change then you have to close controller and come out of it and then go back in if you want to make more modifications; this is very monotonous/time consuming; better than implementing the software to work in this way would be an undo facility whereby the software would remember say the last 100 changes made so-far with a one-click to be able to undo them in any number of batches.
  3. I suppose its a personal preference thing, but I liked/like the look of the car when front fogs are on, that the headlights are illuminated at reduced intensity. P.S. I tried putting the above into action but it didn't work; I.e. Nothing happened at all. So I need to do some more research on deciphering all the terms pertaining to any/a typical numbered leuchte and what they mean and refer to. Because if a given leuchte can have more than one function Attached to it,then in essence dim-dip should be doable as an additional function. At least on these forums people don't judge/prejudge and hence criticise rather than provide constructive help/experiences/input which is what they were created for.
  4. I have led drl. Thanks for your input; sincerely appreciated 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼🙂 I will definitely look into doing as you have described. An idea has popped into my head: according to pages and pages of leucht programming Ive read on the 'net, if I associate both sides parking light with the headlight function and then set it to a dimming value of say 25 or 33 oa quarter or a third of 100%] and then going by the leuchte hierarchical structure and the fact that headlights are connected/illuminated via ignition only they should only work when both conditions are true light switch is at sidelights position and ignition is on and again as per leucht hierarchy as soon as the light switch is turned to dipped beam headlights then my "mod" should be overridden by the BCM's Programming and the headlights should illuminate at 100[%]. Any thoughts/comments on the above paragraph?
  5. Hello All 🙋‍♂️ After a lot of extensive reading up on this, I am a lot nearer achieving what I want to do, but at the same time still a bit confused/wary. I want to implement “DIM-DIP” headlights in my car. "It was a system whereby if you switched on your sidelights *and* the engine was running, the dipped beam headlights would also be switched on, although they would be fed via a resistor, and so would be dimmed - hence dim-dip. Far from not being needed, dim dip was a very useful device to have. There are many times when lights are nescessary to increase ones own visibility without the need to illuminate the road ahead. “ https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=12486 http://dastern.torque.net/techdocs/dimdip.html Like I said from my research and thus understanding thereof, it is possible, or there is no real reason it isn’t. If a/any given leuchte can have one than one function, then this is what I wish to avail. I can’t find a leuchte pertaining to position lights; which is what I would have used and it would have been [tentatively speaking] relatively simple/straightforward. Alter said leucht to also include switching on the headlights then using the dimmwert value reduce intensity of said headlights to say 33% or maybe 25%. And like I said if my understanding is correct of leucht hierarchy, then when the headlight switch was turned to normal/standard dipped beam it would override the former and provide headlamp illumination at full 100%. Playing around [sorry Experimenting 😁] with what I want to achieve; I did do it of sorts... In the leuchte pertaining to each dipped beam headlight, I changed the dimming value from 100 to 33 and lo-and-behold YES! it achieved what I wanted! But like I said “of sorts”; then I returned the 33 values [back] to 100. OK assuming you are still reading this so far, if I added values dimmwort values of 33 to the leuchte for dipped beam headlights how would that work when I wanted 100 brightness? if as I have read about leuchte hierarchy, the higher the letter value the higher the priority. If the above wouldn’t work, then how about using the ‘spare” main beam position? i.e. main beam only comes/stays on at/with headlights; if you push the indicator stalk forwards when in any position other than headlights on, nothing happens. So could this be used? if so how? [and as said above] when headlights were on they would override the aforementioned brightness value. If the above wouldn’t be a good solution how about linking to the dimmwort value for the parking lights leuchtes left and then right? I bet the above “essay” has put off most but the most ‘hardy’ or technical or interested people! Now looking forward to input from you folks! 🙂 Best regards, Mo.
  6. You’ll [or those with automatic light feature] will find it funny/ironic that I wanted to go the other way; i.e. delete the auto lights function from my car 😄
  7. Hello. I wanted to know what VCDS entries control/pertain to the abovementioned please? Ta.
  8. I have ummmmmmmmmmmm how can I say this............. made a "version 2"; this is better and in a way supersedes the above. IDE00001 ENG115730 Production mode Exterior lighting.pdf
  9. I hope that users of this forum will find this useful. It was a case of well if you can't find the answer anywhere yourself, why wait for someone else to get the answer and put up for you to find? Do it yourself and share with others‼ If anyone is intereseted in how I obtained this info; it is as follows: Whilst the car was connected to the computer, I simply did a page–by–page screenshot; then I imported the screenshots into an OCR program to convert the screenshots into a "plain/simple text" format understandable by microsoft word; then I imported said text into microsoft word and then I used the translation feature in microsoft word to translate the [as–is] OCR'd German text into English; then I simply saved the resultant info into a PDF. 11. In VCDS if I "enabled" every option that has "Menuesteuerung" next to it, would that enable that option to be [more] easily accessed via the radio unit?
  12. Oh yes [and another thing ] the audio system in my car, can/will play [obviously read as well ] the audio from a video MP4 file but won't display/decode/show the video; this is even when car switched off and key not present in vehicle. I was wondering and I am pretty sure that if its thaaaaaaaaaaaat close; i.e. will decode and play the audio from an MP4 file, that it can't be impossible for it to decode and play/show/display the video portion of the MP4 file and that to do this is just a matter of "reprogramming" it via VCDS.
  13. JGrindel Many many maaaaaaaaaaaaaany thanks indeed. [I am sure I read either on these forums or elsewhere on the 'net that the rear foglight could be enabled via software; I am almost 99% sure of this... ditto adjustment of brightness of sidelights...]
  14. I think I [already previously] have, but I will revisit it, in case I might have missed anything/something. [From memory I didn't/couldn't find anything related to my points 1, 3, and 4...]
  15. First of all I sincerely apologise for the way I worded the title to/of this post. Really really wracking my brain, that is the best I could think of unfortunately. Using VCDS how do/can I? Enable the left rear fog light so that I then/now have both fog lights showing at the rear. How do I change the seatbelt warning chime type? [I could do this quite easily and simply in my MK2 Fabia] How do I lessen the brightness of the sidelights [specifically I don't mean, and nor am I referring to DRLs here!] How do I achieve complete dashboard illumination at light switch position 0?
  16. Strange because on mine I have android auto [and apple carplay; although I can't get my ipad pro to work with this unit via carplay] and android auto works perfectly every time it is called upon. And as far as I am aware the stereo is original from factory that came with the/this spec model of car.
  17. This is how I did it; and the best part of all of this is my method is it is completely universally applicable. Parked my car about 3 meters away from a plain smooth [unpatterned] wall. The beam pattern can be best seen on such a surface. Got my electric screwdriver. Turned the each headlamp aim screw, until it stopped at extreme left, extreme right, extreme down and extreme up. Made marks on the wall at each of the 4 points; left right down and up and joined them up to make a cross symbol. Then I simply ensured that the 10° 'kick up' and the 180° horizontal part (\_) where they met; i.e. literally where the horizontal line started to move upwards, or where the 10° upwards beam and the part of the horizontal met, was for both headlamps/headlights exactly where the intersection of both the horizontal and vertical lines was. So the vertical height of the beam sat exactly on the horizontal line part of the cross and the lateral part of the beam \_ sat literally on the cross axes. Thus to me, using my method, logically the beam was not pointing upwards straight in drivers faces and illuminating the sky and none of the road in front, and nor was pointing immediately downwards in front of the car illuminating a 1 meter² portion of the road and nothing else; Same goes for lateral beam vision aiming; neither illuminating all of the nearside and none of the offside and neither all the offside and none of the nearside. For front foglights/lamps it was/is a similar procedure; except [a] its a completely flat 180° horizontal beam and [b] there's no lateral aim facility for front fog lamps/lights. So using my screwdriver I kept turning the beam aiming screw until the beam was at its lowest and then the opposite way until it was at its highest. Drew horizontal lines at both extremes. Worked out what was the halfway position between the two lines and set the aim at that point. The above was just how I performed headlamp/light and Front foglight/lamp aim. If you have a better method, please feel free to air your method! p.s. electric screwdriver just makes the process/procedure quicker and especially in terms of lateral aim, much easier to see. [I'm sorry I didn't take any photographs ] p.s just like a camera lens can be focused, its a pity projector headlamps/lights foglamps/lights don't have this facility and instead they are just fixed focused. I've seen cars with absolutely razor sharp beam patterns and others with really out of focus/blurry beam patterns. If they were like a camera one could simply adjust the focus of the lens and it would be job done. Both types of cars observed have been new/fairly new and old as well.
  18. If I disabled the auto lights on facility in my car, will that restore permanent full illumination of the dashboard in my car? If yes, how do I go about disabling the light sensor using VCDS? If no, how do I go about enabling full dashboard lighting, using VCDS, for/in my car?
  19. If I enable Scandinavian mode on my car, does/will that change the digital speedometer from MPH to KM/H? I ask the above because I want to enable tail lights in conjunction with the front DRLs; and as such was a bit hesitant in doing so if meant the digital speedo would change to KM/H. Using VCDS [which uses convoluted [and sometimes ambiguous] vocabulary, how can I enable rear [tail] lights and number plate light with front DRLs; a–la Volvos and SAABs? If/where possible, any instructions given should mirror what I will be seeing on VCDS on my laptop; so that I can tally what I am being instructed to do and what I am seeing in the VCDS software.
  20. Its been approx 10 days since I wrote my last message and so I don't really know what to think as there doesn't seem to be any reply messages at all whatsoever So I'll just end this here [at least from my side] in that I want to thank everyone/everybody who helped and assisted me to rectify my problem with my car, that had really really been annoying me indeed!! So a very deep and grateful thank you to one and all.
  21. My problem has been successfully solved/resolved/rectifed! I cleared DTCs and did a full vehicle rescan. Errors do remain but whilst my car is overall behaving relatively acceptably, and given the possible complexity in clearing all errors, I shall adhere to the adage "if its not broke, don't fix it." To all that helped me and gave me some of their precious precious time, I can't put into words what I am feeling, suffice to say its along the lines of jubilation exhilaration and a huge huge relief!! Having said all that I definitely don't want come across to patronising condescending arrogant and cocky in saying the following, how does one go about sensitively respectfully politely appreciatively "recompensing" those mentioned in the above paragraph? If I had a "new" [unrelated to this] problem, should I start a fresh new topic/question? Also will this all be archived as/for reference to help others who might have this [or very similar/related] problem? or will it just be deleted? Log-TMBFL65J1E3009463.txt
  22. langers2k, I did exactly as you instructed [cliché aside!] but this car [in conjunction with VCDS] does appear to be 'obstinate'! After the initial please wait screen; after a not too long; but neither too short; waiting time, VCDS reverted back to the list with faults.
  23. Ah ha! That I can definately attempt!! I will try tomorrow Ta very much langers2k .
  24. I was a bit reticent in taking it to a dealer because I didn't want them to force the EA189 manufacturer service update on me [my car]; either overtly or worse still covertly. If only VCDS was not written in some riddlic/cryptic/what–you–read–is–exactly–what–it–is–intended–to–mean type english! .
  25. Well I bought it 2nd hand with a genuine low mileage, no rattles, accidents, absolutely brilliant fuel economy i.e. car absolutely sound. Ah so this is where its "used car" has shown itself. So I guess it'll need some money throwing at it to implement rectification software fixes?
