Auto Light sensor on the Dash

Featured Replies

I've asked this question before but I didn't really get the result I was hoping for so I'll ask again.

The wife's Fabia MKIII SE-L has Auto lights but no rain sensor, the light sensor is on the Dash below the windscreen. The auto lights are very late coming on and sometimes you have to turn the lights on yourself. So my question is " Can the sensor be altered via VCDS or VCP " ( think thats right ) to have the Auto lights come on earlier. On my Octavia I have a setting " Early " " Medium " " Late " Via the Car settings on the radio but there are no such settings on the Fabia.

Thanks

See under Fabia III cluster light ,one of the last articles on page two you can see my photos. I have the same problem and tomorrow I will service the car and ask them if it is possible to change the time to " lightening" speed.

Probably another unsatisfying answer, but my Fab has got the rain sensor and thus the on-screen setting possibility. As the computer / CPU or whatever they call the car-brain hardly differ much between models and probably just need some option to be triggered the VDST option seems reasonable to me.

The photos i took will be sent to Skoda Sweden and probably also to Skoda Tjeckien since the Skoda serviceman who serviced my car  had no idea how to adjust the light. So lets hope an answer will come.

So does the UK SE-L have the auto dip mirror with humidity sensor (for the climatronic) with no RLS, the light sensor being the low version built into the Climatronic Solar sensor array on the dash?

If the car has the RLS in the rear view mirror holder Id havw thought there is no reason why rain sensing couldnt be coded. Without it I can see the conundrum.

The SE-L that we have has Auto lights/Auto dim mirror with the light sensor on top of the Dash, we also have the Climate and I believe the Climate sensor is on the Climate Unit ( I might be wrong )  If you spec the Rain Sensor/auto dim mirror and Auto lights the light sensor is high up the screen in the mirror housing/Stalk and the Climate sensor is on the back of the mirror If you have the Rain sensor you get 3 levels of Auto Light settings, if no Rain Sensor you get no alternative light setting.

I think

On our Fabia we have no Rain Sensor fitted so you just can't code it in unless you fit one into the housing, I think  all the wires are there, just no sensor

Ah I think I get it then....

Auto dip mirror with the RLS base but no RLS sensor. FYI the Climatronic can now sense humidity...the humidity sensor is in the rear of the mirror base. It essentially tells the Climatronic to blow air on the screen and to disable stop start if it feels there is a risk of fogging.

Sounds as though the light sensor is where the solar sensor for the climatronic is....either using that sensor for its feed or a dedicated light sensor in the same location.

Thanks for the above replies.

Somewhat confused still - but rather than scramble my brains any further

will get dealer to look at it when it goes in for 1st service

I believe that you can change out the sensor behind the mirror for one that does everything? I'm sure someone on here has done it. It allows you to enable automatic wipers too.

There are a few different variants of the sensor:

Humidity (for cars with climate control, but no auto wipers)

Humidity + Rain + Light (for cars with everything!)

Rain + Light (for cars with auto wipers but no climate control)

Apparently it's all just a matter of unplugging the old one and putting in the better sensor, and then coding it with VCDS. The latter I have no idea how to do!

If I disabled the auto lights on facility in my car, will that restore permanent full illumination of the dashboard in my car?

If yes, how do I go about disabling the light sensor using VCDS?

If no, how do I go about enabling full dashboard lighting, using VCDS, for/in my car?
