vimto2000 replied to pinkpanther's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)

Octy II2008.5 goes TOO well & mpg too good - why???
vimto2000 replied to greg123's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Our old pool car was a 105PD as the MPG was amazing. It had a hard life and was driven hard, but MPG and power that it gave was brilliant. Thats why I'm slightly dissapointed with my 2.0PD as it gives no where near the MPG of the 105. Like you said, the 105 was quite happy sitting on the motorway doing 100mph. -
No kiddies yet....

Free Servicing or Variable Servicing ?
vimto2000 replied to s3akr's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Mines on the Free servicing scheme...I'm planning to put mine on variable after I finish the 3rd service! However I make sure they use long life oil each time. Just need to confirm they do this! -
New Bury Bluetooth System Fitted
vimto2000 replied to PSM's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Who was that refering to? As I am in Manchester! I have it installed in the company Pool car (Mazda 6), but get that only certain days. But you welcome to check it out. -

vimto2000 replied to PSM's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Well I've had a pretty good play with the Bury kit over the weekend. And I've got to say its been very reliable. Connects when it should, working with no faults whatsoever. So much so, I'm gonna get it in my car now. Cheezemonkhai, where is the brodit vent clip that your on about. As I would want mine over the vent rather than stuck on with the lil mount the comes with it. -
New Bury Bluetooth System Fitted
vimto2000 replied to PSM's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Well put it this way...I was just happy it did my phonebook! It didn't do texts on the BB 8800 either. I'll see if I can try the bold, and Touch Diamond Pro next week. But again the texts feature is not essential for me. -

Well while we were trying it..we couldn't get it to read texts from the VarioIII or BB 8800. Not tried the Bold yet. But i'm not bothered about the text feature. But the phone book, and the voice commands are pretty nifty! -

Just had one of these car kits fitted to our company pool car (Mazda 6). Got to say its very sweet! Very user friendly and works like a dream with my VarioIII. Will test it out properly tomorrow and this weekend. But definitely worth considering if the OEM is out of your budget or you don't have maxidot! -
I'm not sure if I like it as a VRS...I kinda think its a bit boring when compared to the other options. Maybe if it was a darker grey!

Insurance Renewal Time - Any tips?
vimto2000 replied to harveys's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
But even if I had factory fit sport suspension, I don't think I would tell the insurance company. If it was aftermarket/Dealer fit then yeah I would. I sure as hell wouldn't class a Jumbo Box, xenons, parking sensors as modified if they are factory fit! -
Chav-tastic. Making a TT look like an R8
vimto2000 replied to gadgetman's topic in General Automotive Chat
I saw a TT the other day, that tried to make the back look like a Porsche 911 Turbo...and failed miserably! Wish I took a pic! -
Insurance Renewal Time - Any tips?
vimto2000 replied to harveys's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I remember when I got my first quote when I got my new car, they asked if it has been modified...including factory options. So I told them I added ESP. First of all they didn't know what that was! Secondly my insurance went sky high cos it was modified. Now I wouldn't bother telling them about any factory fit options, it seems stupid that a safety device can double your premium! -
Mine was Jan 2007...so pretty sceptical about mine. So who is round the manchester area to get this checked out ...won't be for a while as working down south with no access to my car! :(
-
IIRC I thought the cornering lights only functioned at very low speeds...Ie to help with car parks etc...not for go round bends on the roads.
-
So apart from hooking up your car to VAG-Com, there is no way else to check? I got a MY2007, would this even be a possibility?
-
Nice looking car there!! You can't beat the feeling of a new car! Kinda wish I had a different colour car...but then once you wash it...you can't beat black for the next 5 mins! I'm just down the road from you..inside of the M60! Should be popping out to the local tesco extra there today Will keep an eye out for you!

Best place to see is Auto trader and see what the equivalent prices are for the cars with the same spec of yours, and look at the lower prices of your search as the top end prices never sell!

Windows not close on one touch locking.
vimto2000 replied to Taxi 219's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Definitely works on the ambiente model! Our pool car hasn't got maxidot and is straight forward. And that works fine on all windows. -
Just bought 2.0TDi L&K
vimto2000 replied to bunglebear32's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I wouldn't call it bad, just a tad harsher as the tyres don't soak up the bumps as much. I've still got stantard suspension, I want the eibachs and fsd setup but can't afford it at the moment! -
Cheap Ebay Alternative to MFD2 installed.
vimto2000 replied to T-1000's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
From what I seen, the ones that have a user interface ie skoda branded ones they run 4.2 and the ones that actualy look like windows CE its 5.0. As for not reaching the buttons, i'm 5'6" and I can reach the buttons comfortably without stretching too much. Must be you loooong legs Auberne
