  1. I remember when it was announced that Hamilton was joining Mercedes. Thought it would be a big mistake considering Mercedes were struggling in the midfield but he then put it on pole in the first race. Then of course 2014 onwards happened
  2. Nico is capable of good race craft. Look at his pass on Bottas in Japan last year. Textbook stuff. Indeed he pulled a decent pass on Hamilton in Texas last year (albeit Hamilton's tyres were shot). This year though he seems to have been getting spooked when racing wheel to wheel. I guess those first 4 races where he had it all his own way with no competition hasn't really helped his long term game where red bull are now quick enough to cause problems.
  3. Yesterday for me showed the difference between Hamilton and Rosberg. Bahrain probably the best example, Hamilton gets a poor start then gets clobbered by Bottas and drops to 7th(?). Recovers to 3rd with a badly hobbled car. Rosberg gets a poor start and drops to 4th and stays 4th with no damage or mechanical issues. Nico is very quick on his day but yesterday not so good.
  4. Big shunt at the start of race 3, very scary stuff. Glad everyone was ok and big up to the reactions of the cameraman when he realised Hunter Abbotts car was heading towards him
  5. Now I have seen Max v Nico, fair penalty IMO. As was said in commentary Rosberg needed to lock up a wheel to at least make it look as though he was trying to make the corner. Ferrari seem to be in no man's land at the moment
  6. Got to say fair play to Rosberg in qualifying, one chance to nail it after an electrical glitch but he did. Looking forward to watching the race highlights later so I can actually see the Nico/Max incident. Looking great for Hamilton even with the upcoming engine penalty he should still be in the lead afterwards
  7. Roll on the storms. Love the hot weather but this weekend was largely spent wrapped in a blanket at the hottest time of day. Something wrong there methinks
  8. Not impossible. I think more likely to split the mercs. Last years race aside Hamilton is very strong there and was much quicker than Nico.
  9. Fully agree. Max and Lewis superb today. Red bull arguably ahead of Ferrari. Likely to be more of the same at Hungary.
  10. All insight is useful . Luckily enough my job isn't hugely physical but 2 hands is of course advantageous. Been swimming 2/3 times a week just to keep it moving. I also have 2 kids with number 3 on the way so I'm not expecting an easy ride with this. I'm ambidextrous but not so good at writing leftie. Got mine playing rugby in November, suffice to say I haven't played since and won't rush back into it during the recovery
  11. Ouch. Mine has a habit of popping and cracking a lot when I move it
  12. Not too bad in terms of time off for you then . I have heard that the injection could make it worse depending on the damage
  13. As the title implies, I have an ongoing shoulder injury that is getting ever closer to needing an operation to stabilise the ac joint. I have been through physio, next step likely being an MRI scan then it will either be a steroid injection or the stabilisation op. Have any of you folks had a similar procedure? How long were you signed off work for? I think the time off worries me more than the actual procedure.
  14. Awesome results. Who would have expected us to win the series 3-0 after the World Cup? Must have been a stonking game today.
  15. Feel for Toyota. All the hard work and the engine goes bang on the last lap
  16. Come to think of it I don't think Rosberg has had a difficult qualifying session in the hybrid era. Lowest I think is 4th on the grid. Hamilton definitely self inflicted today as pole was there for the taking but I would love to see how Rosberg copes with a 10th or lower on the grid. Looking forward to the race, how many will be wiped out at turn 1?
  17. As I was saying, Rosberg looking ominous . Should make for an interesting race as Hamilton's race pace looked strong. I think it will be a manic race.
  18. Track looks like a decent challenge but surprised it was Danny Ric was the first to crash. Hamilton looking ominous but I think the forecast is for it to be warmer tomorrow so maybe Ferrari and RB will get the tyres working better.
  19. Can see where you are coming from. Have to say that to me he sounded weary and fed up. Half expected him to make the same noises as the 'GP2 engine' comment from last year
  20. Not forgetting a strikingly similar occurrence at Canada 2014 when Hamilton got the better start from p2 but got elbowed out. They all do it on lap one anyway
  21. Got to agree about Alonso. I still rate him very highly but always had a question mark over his temperament. I get that he is frustrated scratching around for 1-2 points maximum but I doubt Vettel or Hamilton would be on the radio with 5 laps left asking to park up.
  22. Says a lot about merc starts when on one of the shortest runs to turn one, Vettel is already ahead of both less than halfway there. I would put Ferrari and Mercedes engines about level. Merc do have more tokens to use though. Do think Hamilton controlled that in the end despite older tyres. Great drive by both in a league of their own
  23. Yes could be. Either way with Lewis and Danny Ric in the form they are in, he is going to need to do a lot better if he wants to win the title this year
  24. Race was pretty good. Hamilton deserved the win IMO but Ricciardo would have been a worthy winner too. Any other track he would have passed Hamilton while the ultra soft tyres weren't working. Both were in a league of their own. Title fight is on, I do wonder if Rosberg will regret following the team order at the end of the season
  25. Guess that will depend on the stewards view. Wouldn't surprise me but if they did that, grid penalties for both drivers imo. Day belongs to Max, very pleased for him
