  1. Sorry, folks ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVqNiamVUz0 This version doesn't seem to need activation codes ....
  2. Factory fit tow bars are by the Czech company, Prof Svar. ( http://www.profsvar.cz/en/ )
  3. I really can't believe that this is rattling on as an issue -- it's something that I certainly feel very strongly about ( as posted here previously ! ) .. but I am in full agreement with the_raz (quoted below) that if you cannot see the instruments, then it's time for headlights. I see wayyyy too many cars on sidelights in twilight. Some of them just cannot be seen. (apart from the numpties who don't bother with any lighting up duties !) Sidelights are for when the car is stopped - i.e. Parking Lights. Safety, really, should be the paramount issue here. Being seen, is what I see (!) as being the important point here. It's like with many cyclists over here - they don't bother with lights - because THEY can see. They don't consider that they might not be seen. ** If you have a no light, or a dim light, and the car behind, or beside, has headlights on - which one will you be more likely to see first? ** I go for the safety option every time. Indeed - I think manufacturers should make the "position 1" into a position 4 (or even 5 !) - for parking up, only! I'm with you, totally, on this one, the_raz !! :-)
  4. Yep - it doesn't do it with KESSY - the double-press is only possible with the key-fob.
  5. Hi - just in reading forums - not just here - Octavia, Passat etc .. there seems to be a temperature related problem with radio units fitted to VAG cars in last couple of years. The reports generally is that they ( or some of them ) can be unresponsive at startup - and seem to come alive later in journey. So, they "unfreeze" !! Not seen it - yet - on the Swing unit fitted to my Fabia. It's not been cold enough here yet. The Swing seems to be a cut-down Bolero - smaller screen - no option for Smartlink, etc .. In response to your comment about reversing - and the slow return to radio after coming out of reverse gear - this is a .. feature .. on all of them now - ( there is a thread on here somewhere about this ) - but essentially - it's in case you are close to something and if the proximity should become more hazardous after you deselect reverse. ( e.g. rolling back into something, or the something is a "moving something").
  6. Re: the misting - read somewhere in forum about new cars needing windscreen cleaned a few times while cars new plastics do some "de-gassing" and leave a coating on the screens. So - a few cleans, and I've very little trouble with this. (misting not particularly different to any other car I've had ). ( cleaning - used variously Lidl window spray or vinegar-water mix - applied and polished off with newspaper - not glossy magazines!! ) Re: the water off the roof - is this problem worse on hatches than on estates ? I've been watching for it as saw a few people mention it. No different to any other gutterless cars I've been in. Just a few drops occasionally. Yep - ditto here.
  7. Fabia 3 ? 2008 ?? If it's really a Fabia 3 (2014/15) then it sounds like a dealer/guarantee issue ??
  8. Get the Skoda Service App on your phone - put your VIN in there - and it'll tell you the date of manufacture (I don't know if it's the date they put the "chassis" together or the date they completed it - but I'd imagine it's when they assign the VIN to the particular piece of metal. Either way - it's THAT week !!)
  9. Surely the "Night"/"Day" data is coming from the phone ?? No?? Is the phone in a place where it can "see" whether it's daylight or dark?
  10. Mostly Grimsby/Immingham, or Sheerness.
  11. The eternal question from excited to-be-owners on here !! Most recent best answer on here was this :
  12. The Swing radio (a cut-down Bolero) in mine takes a 32gb card no probs - and on Octavia forum have seen various references to 64Gb and even one 128gb sd on Boleros.
  13. Can't say that there is an improvement on mine - they were fitted on Day 1 ! Been driving a Passat estate for a long time - and its usual for a build-up of grime on the back. My purpose with the mud flaps is keeping down the level of dirt build-up just behind the wheel arches. Makes car a bit easier to clean in the winter. The dust on the back goes with the territory on many estates! (Hatchbacks probably too??)
  14. Try here: http://www.volkswagen.de/de/models/golf_7/brochure/senderlogos.html Großbritannien is 7th down the list !!
  15. Yep - I don't either. But when I use key as usual ( i.e. by keeping key out of Kessy range ) - one press of remote does the first-stage opening of driver's door, second press opens everything - including the boot. And that's not pressing the "boot-button" on the remote either. Otherwise - if I just get into car after one remote press - then pressing the Lock button on the dash, once - opens everything - rest of doors and boot.
  16. Hmmm - have to agree with vc-10, as the general, standard recommendations are to turn headlights on, on approach to tunnels, AA (http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/safety/tunnel-safety.html) , Tyne Tees Tunnel (http://www.tt2.co.uk/safe-driving-in-the-tyne-tunnels.html), and a few other sources. Can't find the exact place in the UK Highway Code - but it is in the DVSA Theory Test, to turn on dip headlights on approach to tunnels. Unless - is the Mersey tunnel different? Either way, I'm all for making our cars more visible. I know some mightn't agree.
  17. No, not quite - you can leave the engine running - just press the lock/unlock button on the dash - and she can open the boot herself !
  18. Just checked car today - cold and hot after a journey - checked just after a few miles on motorway. Cold - just on, or marginally above, the Min mark. Hot - half way between Min and Max - i.e. behind the seam on the tank. Car was topped up by dealer about 3 weeks ago - to a point about an inch (or more) above Max mark - engine was hot. Will explore the venting more closely during daylight. I will be keeping a close eye on coolant though. Never noticed this kind of variation on cars previously.. but it does look like it vents off and finds its own level - which just happens to be lower than most of us are used to. To be continued ...... !!
  19. Well - on the Forum here - in Fabia Pictures and the Monte thread - there's these : http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/350278-fabia-iii-picture-thread/?p=4332096 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/350278-fabia-iii-picture-thread/?p=4340205 McBurns Meteor Grey Monte http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/354000-2015-fabia-monte/?p=4420459 And mine : As you see - they're very discreet - hardly notice them!
  20. It looks great McB !! .. And further to what gazbull says - all the estates just look great. (Of course, I am biased! ) That's such an unusual colour. Eyecatching in a weird kinda way! For grey ! It just doesn't make sense that grey could be eyecatching !! Where were the pics taken? You got to try out the Monte on the windy, bendy bits ??
  21. Edited : transferred comment to Monte thread.
  22. Map is on the phone - have phone on a vent mount/dashboard mount. Maybe not ideal - but good enough for my use level. If you get Skoda Service app on your phone - put VIN in there, and it'll tell you the Build date. Before Week 22, Year 2015, From Week 22 (25th May 2015), then Year 2016. [EDIT] A little more info on http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/experience/infotainment
  23. Yep - I got the Martinek rear bumper protector from them - and it's good so far ! It looks well. Cheaper than the Skoda one - and I didn't like the sound of the word Glossy!! A part that's going to get some use and abuse needs to be NOT glossy !! The Mudflaps are genuine Skoda. They work well. Make sure you get the ones for the Estate/Combi - the 6V9 code rather than the 6V6 code. ( http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/FABIA-III/Fabia-III-Combi-original-Skoda-mud-flaps-REAR )
  24. By all accounts - if the car is already built - it doesn't matter - unless Smartlink has already been activated at the factory. It seems Smartlink (rather than the Mirrorlink, which, also by all accounts, is quite hopeless ) cannot, yet, be activated post-factory, by the dealer. Activation codes are not yet being released post-build. Others here will have more info. Have a look at the Mirrorlink / Smartlink threads. (The Smartlink is the piece of software that enables use of Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Mirrorlink - if you read the forum, works on about 3 Android phones. Sporadically.) I'm quite happy with the Google maps on my phone, Bluetoothing through the radio. (I do only have the standard Swing radio anyway - which would never run Smartlink anyway.) Hope you enjoy the car though.
  25. Not sure if it's connected with the Auto lock, rum4mo. Mine does not have Autolock set, and boot does not open with engine running. Or if I don't have key in my pocket (Kessy) - even with all the doors unlocked. It's a nuisance sometimes - but I also appreciate it with prevalence of ne'er-do-wells around town.
