Roomster Scout - Ownership Experience
des_pd_ tdi replied to MusicalSkoda's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
I just leave mine on AUTO all the time, the fan speed can seem high but it continuously adjusts. That button switches of the interior sensors. I really need a longer lead, as I have a front armrest you cannot place an MP3 player anywhere. I have to wedge my iPod in between the handbrake and armrest bracket, not ideal :( You do get used to them although if you decide to get a remap more powerful brakes or pads will be required. Des -
Fitted my Atera Signo roof bars today. Roofbox £69 Reason why I puchased these over the Thule bars is that they have a lower profile and were significantly cheaper, however the quality of these bars (in my opinion) are more than an equal for Thule, if not better. I decided not to go for the Aluminium T track bars as the black bars match the Scouts rails. I'll leave these on the car permanantly, in fact I think they look like they were standard fit. Mind you the car could do with a clean Can't think of anything else I need for the car at the moment, just need to drive it now if anything else comes up you know I'll post. I look forward to anyone's comments and I'm eager to see everyone else's Scouts. Des

Boot cover and glasses holder fitted
des_pd_ tdi replied to des_pd_ tdi's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Tell me! I'll make my own adjustments, trim the velcro, snip of the pulled threads, may even stitch in, no, lets leave it at that don't want to shaft the whole thing up now do we! Des -
Hi everyone. As the post says, I installed the boot cover. Part number DMK770005. Overall quality is average and the cover is attached to the seats via velcro strips. Basically it does its job but then it only cost £12.77+VAT. I'm sure I can make a few adjustments to tidy things up a bit. Tipped the back seat forward slightly so you can see it in more detail. The sunglasses holder on the otherhand is excellent quality, took two minutes to install and is fully insulated. Note: You will need to remove the climate sensor from the old unit and fit to this unit before fitment. Now that this is in I'm tempted to fit an illuminated courtesy light as per the one found in the Superb. 1Z0868565EY20 - £12.19+VAT I like this shot, you can see all the way to the back of the car through my sunglass lens. Had to take one snapshot of the roof on a day like this BTW, I also bought the AUX lead ZB000035595A £2+VAT. To be honest if you use an iPOD you really need a longer lead. I also have some Atera roof bars: SIGNO ASR AR2110 on order from roofbox, £69.95. Cheers Des

Looking at Atera instead of Thule as they are lower to the roof line, same quality but slightly cheaper. However, there is a £20 difference between the standard bars and the 'T track' alluminium bars. They will be clamped the black rails on the Roomster so if I go for square black bars they should blend in quite well. Any opinions? Des

I'll do a full on post with part numbers and pictures when my parts arrive. Des

Right here are some more images, as requested. Centre seat as far back as it will go, quite a gap left so there boot cover is on order and will be here Wednesday, so expect another post. The seat on the right is reclined to the max. Crazy MPG after an extremely short 1 minute journey, I had it upto 54MPG whilst driving back from Oxford the other day so definately more economical than the VRs. My sunglasses are in the armrest till my roof glasses holder arrives, this sits in between the light console and the vent thing in the headlining. Funnily enough no exterior picture yet, need them for my website I've created but need to add more detail first. Cheers Des

I'm have some pics of the armrest and rear seat gap to upload later on this evening. I also ordered the boot cover, ipod lead, and sun glasses holder today ready to collect on Wednesday, just need to order my roof bars now. Cheapest price so far is £104 (roofracks.co.uk), I'm not prepared to pay Skoda's £125 when they are exactly the same Thule bars. Think I'll give the sills covers a miss. Des

Rock solid, I'll get you some pictures tomorrow. I'm considering the sill guards, the black ones though. Des

First pics of my Furby VRS
des_pd_ tdi replied to ultra_joel88's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
A cheap top mod would be for you to buy some Bosch Retrofit front Aero wipers, not only are they a marked improvment over the original blades but the do smarten up the look of the front of the car. Des -
Right here goes, I've added a few photos I took today, nothing fancy but will add some decent shots of the interior tomorrow whilst I'm out. Let me know if any of you owners to be would like anything specific. Front Passenger seat is pretty much as far back as it can go. Cheers Des

Has anyone got any pics of the new vRS?
des_pd_ tdi replied to teej's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Jewsons Skoda in Oxford have a yellow Fabia level 2 with the sport kit, rather cheekily they put a VRs badge on the back but if anyone is driving past it gives you a rather good idea of what the next vrs will probably look like. I think it looks pretty damn smart if I say so myself. The colour really makes it in your face though. Des -

I know someone who has a consignment of tippex. Useless post I know but it is 00:52. Sorry Des -
You lot must be getting fedup of my Roomster posts recently Today was the pick up, sad to see my VRS go, gave it a last blast up the M40, and a few nice corners (without the ARB) not so nice but still enjoyable, then took it in for part-ex. To keep it short and sweet I've listed pros and cons after, what 7 hours of ownership. u PROS Increased MPG (result of a more relaxed drive and comfort) Better quality interior, including dashboard illumination (for those that have maxidot the dial needles are white, nice touch) The amount of space and no worrying if anything will fit in the boot. Climatronic is excellent CONS Slightly noisier on the motorway, however I found myself drifting back and settling around the 65-75 MPH mark. No sixth gear A pillar/wing mirror prove to cause a large blindspot Brakes gave me a shock need to get used to them and apply more grunt. Overall though coming from 130bhp to 105bhp is not really that bad, as above it's a much more relaxed drive and I won't bother with a remap. I need to order the boot cover, the one that sits between the back seats and parcel shelf, will pop into my local dealer and order one tomorrow, oh and an ipod lead. Cheers Des

Give me the TV, that'll save you some more weight Have you shed any components from the engine bay, battery cover, engine shroud, under bonnet sound proofing? I imagine if you've stripped the interior down that much then under the bonnet has already had the full treatment! There's just something about this Fabia that's just right, can't place my finger on exactly what it is though.... Des

Picking up my Scout Friday 7th Sept
des_pd_ tdi replied to des_pd_ tdi's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
I priced up my ideal Scout, then by chance found this car as a demonstrator on the used Skoda site. However, this car was not specced up like this on the website. To my surprise (on the test drive) I found out that it actually had the front armrest, rear electric windows and the cornering fog lights. The garage said it was the most expensive Scout they have ever ordered. The car I actually priced up had remote stereo controls and heated seats but this deal was too good to turn away plus I could get hold of the car within the week Will be very very sad to see my VRs go but needs must, need to think of the family, load carrying and primarily safety. I'll do a more detailed comparrison on Friday for everyone. Cheers Des -
Well, all UK Roomsters get curtain airbags as standard. The Uk Fabia that gets curtain bags as standard is the 3. Des

Today I purchased the demonstrator I test drove. Here's the spec Scout 1.9tdi Met Silver 07 -

Factory ordered? What timeframe were you quoted?
des_pd_ tdi replied to MusicalSkoda's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
A fully loaded Roomster ordered from the factory. I was quoted 8-10 weeks. Des -
Unfortuanately still sorting out the Roomster deal, I'm now viewing a demonstrator Saturday morning with a view to buy that so will get back to you all then. Des

Looks like a Scout for me then...
des_pd_ tdi replied to des_pd_ tdi's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Plus it also has blinds. It really is the one option you should have, can't think of anything negative against it. Des -
your mailbox has reached its limit. Moderators can you delete this after a response. Cheers Des

Look, getting into the modding spirit already. In the current brochure there is a pop down glasses holder, this sits behind the front courtesy lights, has a small chrome strip and is similar to the one found in Golfs. However, this does not look to be part of the UK specification, not even sure if it is on the system. Does anyone know what I'm on about or have a product number. You can see the holder in the image below

Still sealing the deal on my Roomster, should have a 100% answer for you tomorrow. BTW, I'm looking for
