  1. For this non event that is happening tonight there is a lot of media coverage. Paul, don’t be asking for loans, your country can’t afford any more. At the end of the year if no trade deal is done Ireland will become a very expensive place to live so best start saving now, not borrowing.
  2. Don’t worry celebrations tomorrow with more to follow at the end of the transition period. Plenty of Irish celebrated the 2nd referendum win for the Lisbon treaty, Brexit is a much bigger event.
  3. I'll probably have a glass or two of the special spirits tomorrow night. I'm sure there will be plenty of tears where remainers gather
  4. I'd love a copy with Boris's actual signature on it, I guess you don't. Cheer up Lee. Brexit is happening, you've made your choice and one day, once you've got your residence, you'll be able to work and earn again. Hopefully that will fill your time rather venting on here and getting yourself stressed, it's no good for your health being angry all the time.
  5. Ireland's economic problems in the 80's were down to your own stupid and outdated tax policies. You couldn't even keep your own population let alone attract people into the country. Only when McCreevy got a grip on your taxation did it stop migration and finally attract people back to Ireland and kick start the Celtic Tiger economy boost. You may not have had any "foreigners" but you had problems keeping hold of your citizens too. Unfortunately more bad policies that were used to attract investment also made you extremely vulnerable to the financial crash and even now you have a national debt per capita over €42k and 60% higher than the UK per person. The tax breaks you had given to attract big business to Ireland has now been deemed illegal by the EU and must be repaid, which isn't going to help with attracting future investment at a time when you need it for your own big problems with state and social care. All issues that Varadkar has been able to dodge with Brexit.
  6. Just ip dip dip it or close your eyes and reach out. Bourbon's and Islay's are bit opposite ends of the taste spectrum though, keep them for separate nights
  7. Boiler playing up so have no hot water. Phone up the boiler breakdown cover company and they can't get me an appointment until next Friday afternoon. Only renewed the cover last month too, otherwise I'd cancel and get someone else to fix it.
  8. Employment rights and the right to protest French style https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jan/28/french-police-clash-with-firefighters-during-paris-protest I guess this is their minimum rights granted to them by the EU.
  9. Don’t know who’s living in the past, I’m certainly looking forward to the future.
  10. I think that applies to most politicians including those in Ireland
  11. They’re a few of the same make and model ebay but not the 26w version as Gyp's link.
  12. Nothing will change in the way we trade with the EU during the transition period but after the 31/01/2020 the UK will no longer be a member of the EU. If that’s nothing then why have you argued about laving the EU for so many years?
  13. Size isn't everything, I'm sure your wife has told you that often enough.
  14. If the Remainers are so miserably now imagine how sour faced they’ll be when they wake up on Saturday morning, no longer members of the European Union.
  15. I guess more Germans read papers than Twitter as Bild is the biggest seller there i.e. it’s popular amongst the population. Nice attempt to down play him as his article may have struck a few nerves with you but the content is still true. Glad to see you’re making progress in your German to comment on using an umlaut but it’s trivial in regards to the content of the article.
  16. Interesting article by Alexander von Schoenburg, editor-at-large at BILD, Germany's highest circulation newspaper. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-7927123/ALEXANDER-VON-SCHOENBURG-says-Germany-fears-Britain-face-reality-Brexit.html
  17. Looks like it’s all roses for the EU https://www.euractiv.com/section/economy-jobs/news/eurozone-2020-the-race-against-the-clouds/ That will be the roses on the compost heap rotting away.
  18. What like his mate Jason J Hunter. I think that was his name as he has disappeared of screen and his Twitter account is for approved followers only after his claims were ridiculed by actual experts. You’d have to be a real brain donor to fund someone like that.
  19. More recent forecast than 2018 The IMF’s assessment of the UK prospects over next two year is relatively upbeat. It predicts that growth will “stabilise” at 1.4% in 2020 and 1% in 2021, weak by UK historical standards but growth none-the-less and stronger growth than the IMF is predicting for Germany, France and Japan. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-01-20/brexit-international-monetary-fund-forecast-imf-britain-growth/
  20. He’s studying for his residency test and until then unemployed. With the loss of earnings since moving there and the time it require to earn that back he’d be the worse economic migrant.
  21. Lee, I think you’ll find that we officially leave at the end of this month hence why we have no say in the EU after then. We will continue to follow their rule whilst in the agreed transition period, this doesn’t mean we haven’t left. We merely continue to trade on the existing terms during this transition. Hopefully you’re no longer confused. https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20200123IPR70904/brexit-the-withdrawal-agreement-passes-the-first-european-parliament-test https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51244126
  22. I said before that if we vote to join the EU again it should be all in for their federal EU dream at least then you know you’re giving yourself away to.
  23. You have spouted this rubbish for ages and how a 2nd referendum would have all the young people voting to remain and the old people would have died off. Newsflash for the hard of thinking and senile. We had a GE last month, the three main parties respectively pledged to leave the EU, reverse Art 50 and hold a 2nd referendum. The party that pledged to leave the EU despite being unpopular in many areas won the GE and within days we will leave. One of your political heroes Keir Starmer said "election blew away the argument for a second referendum". Now you’ve had 3.5 years of old people dying and younger people being eligible to vote and nothing has changed, there was no tipping of balance but it appears some that are senile or just find it very hard to think can’t get that into their heads.
  24. I can’t say I’m sorry to see them go. Only tried them three times, once in London and the rest in Leeds. The food the was the same at both dry mediocre burger and cold sides. The service was just as poor. Byrons are leagues ahead in food and service.
