  1. There is already one link on the previous in regards to Brazil meat. First word of the sentence means it wasn’t an assertion. Feel free to search Google for animal husbandry and slaughter house conditions in China and Vietnam and prove they are superior.
  2. Lots of meat came from Brazil that wasn’t fit for human consumption but the EU carried on allowing it in as it was meeting EU standards. That was until China banned Brazilian meat imports due to it not being safe to eat, then the EU decided to act. See my links in previous posts.
  3. Probably better than those in China, Vietnam and Brazil that are allowed to import meat into the EU.
  4. From the same link and contradicts the FT article, which was denied by Government and prior to the withdrawal agreement. Also moving away from being tied to EU legislation. As already stated our employment laws exceed the EU minimum and the Tory government could have reduced them to these lower levels previously so no need the EU to do so now.
  5. As we seem to be repeating facts and I can’t be bothered to type it all out again I’ll just quote myself from the first page of this thread on the EU food standards. I’ll also point out if there is no trade deal at the end of this then the Irish meat trade will cease without the U.K. land bridge to the rest of Europe. Of course they can always change the legislation and allow the animals to suffer for longer to make the sea journey.
  6. That’s optimistic of you, glad you’re getting on board at last.
  7. The EU sets the minimum employment rights, which the U.K. has exceeded in many areas both before and after, but without that EU legislation we were constantly told by Remainers we'd have no employment rights once we left 🙄
  8. With all the scare stories from the Remainers that workers will lose their employment rights nice we leave the EU, it seems very odd that the U.K. has passed Jacks Law which entitles those who lose a child to 2 weeks statutory paid bereavement leave. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jacks-law-bereavement-leave-uk-paid-child-death-work-a9297151.html Just another UK employment law that exceeds EU legislation.
  9. more bad news UK OUTPERFORMS EVERY OTHER EU ECONOMY IN FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/15/uk-tech-investment-outpaced-us-and-china-in-2019-study-says.html
  10. UK holds more foreign investment than Germany and France combined https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-holds-more-foreign-investment-than-germany-and-france-combined
  11. I’ll just leave this here A thousand EU financial firms plan to open UK offices after Brexit https://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-eu-banks/a-thousand-eu-financial-firms-plan-to-open-uk-offices-after-brexit-idUSKBN1ZJ00D
  12. Come on Ken, employment rights and H&S are nothing to do with unions if the Brexit threads are to be believed. If it wasn't for the EU we would all still be working in Victorian work houses according to some Remainers.
  13. Shame you’re going. I’ve not followed your Fabia thread but have enjoyed your contributions to the Biker section.. Enjoy your new car, sod whatever anyone else thinks and hope the current bike is a keeper.
  14. Never heard of Beales before so can’t comment on them. I can see a lot more high street names disappearing soon. Rates high, parking expensive, public transport overpriced and under capacity, and then they want to prevent cars from coming into to cities unless they fart flowers. Why bother when you can order online cheaper and without the hassle. Don’t get me wrong , I’d rather go shopping and handling the goods than just looking at pictures but the councils are determined to kill the High Street.
  15. If you've had the tow bar prep then the module should already be coded. If not to will still work but you won't get the extra features such as turning off the rear PDC when a trailer is connected, stability control and alarm extension, the lights etc will still work. Rather than go to dealer or tow bar fitters for it switching on. Arrange instead with one of the many guys on here with VCDS to have it switched on any other features for the car unlocked
  16. I just prefer something that just plugs in without having to fiddle to get it the right way round and make sure it’s square before it will slot in.
  17. It wasn’t having a dig, just curiosity as you’ve been out there since 2018 and not being able to would drive most of us stir crazy. Good luck with T Mobile, no doubt you will come across some of my mates who stayed on in Germany after the draw down. A fair few of them have progressed into senior management as they’ve been with them since they started as DBT and they had the skills needed at the right time.
  18. Only a tiny amount compared to what uses Lightning and all the accessories for them 😀 Please keep trying to justify it, you only sound ridiculous Hows the job hunting going? Probably not the greatest news that 2019 had seen the UK get more investment in technology than both Germany and France combined. Can't have helped your prospects much.
  19. Luckily nothing as micro USB is hateful to use compared to Lightning connectors. Just imagine with the help of the EU we could be using 9 pin serial connectors again and sod innovation.
  20. Adaptors don't work on docks that support the phone in the cradle. There is also no need to buy adaptors if they didn't need changing to begin with. Don't need to be a genius for that one I guess Apple will have two types of connectors. Lightning for the rest of the world, plenty of accessories available and cheap due to volume. Then you'll have the ones for the EU markets, more expensive due to limited market and not as many accessories. Thankfully we will be in the rest of the world market.
  21. Great idea then all then when I need to change my iPhone and it then has a USB C connector I just have to buy another clock radio dock, new speaker docks, new charging stations. Lightning cables which are used on most Apple products for the last decade 'ish can be used either way round. I wonder which lobbying group managed to convince the EU it would save electronic waste then create a lot more in making existing products obsolete
  22. HD have invested a lot of money in the bikes so need an advertising vehicle to flog their £30k bikes. No doubt they will be supported to the maximum again and not really a true adventure but a series of carefully planned journeys with behind the scene inspections of the bikes by HD. With a maximum 90 mile range I can see this been hidden with lots of stops and walkabouts whilst they have discreet recharges, probably off generators if they are getting away for a mock adventure. Hope the Livewire does sell as it helps others manufacture electric bikes if they can see a market for it. Hopefully it won't go the way of their Adventure bike as that was badly beaten with the ugly stick, then hit a few more times for good measure.
  23. Germany’s power grid is in need of upgrading more than ours. They already have blackouts such as the Berlin raised questions about how fragile the network and procedures are. https://www.dw.com/en/berlin-blackout-raises-questions-over-germanys-power-grid/a-47730394 With coal and nuclear going in Germany they will have more blackouts or import power instead and as you say you can’t guarantee it’s green and most likely coming from France will be nuclear. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-power-supply-insight/does-renewables-pioneer-germany-risk-running-out-of-power-idUSKCN1UD0GZ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-05-10/germany-risks-blackouts-next-decade-with-speedy-coal-exit
  24. There Is only 6 of them and usually packed already so nowhere near the capacity to cope with additional demand and don’t cover all the areas the buses do.
  25. It’s the same in Leeds but within the ring road and for some of my clients I have been having to apply for grants to enable vehicle upgrades. Cars and vans are exempt at the moment but trucks, buses and taxis will be charged. One of my clients uses a truck with a grab and it carries 8 pallets. I had to argue with Leeds Council that not running the truck and using vans instead would increase traffic by an additional 7 vehicles causing more congestion and pollution, otherwise it would be to move the business and jobs outside of Leeds. Eventually they got the grant but had lots of hoops to jump through.
