  1. I had the same thing. Saved it up for the service it had today. Got a call from the dealer who said it needed replacing and it was four pounds. I questioned why I was paying rather than warranty and he said 'The blockage is due to being run using hard water' I asked him what was in the washer bottle currently. He said 'Washer fluid' I said...'Can you see where this conversation is going?' 'Maybe we can work this out as a goodwill gesture' 'Thats awfully good of you. I'll be round in an hour to pick it up' That's how your conversation should go. :)
  2. Sweet baby Jesus, make sure you get it done before it hits zero. Mine is booked in this week. Nevertheless, for the last w weeks it has reminded me that the inspection is now due EVERY.FRICKING. TIME.I.GET.IN.THE.CAR. it's SO annoying. Maybe once a day would have been enough, but if I'm in and out of my car fifteen times a day, Skoda deemed it important to tell me fifteen times. Like they thought I had selective Alzheimer's.
  3. They all do that. The clutch pedal return speed bit. I complained about it and when I was told it was a feature of the hydraulic clutch. I challenged it, but tried 3 other new cars in the showroom and found the same. I hated it at first but I've got used to it now.
  4. You do sound like you're thinking that when you brake, only the front ones are applied. Not wishing to be the bearer of bad news but all 4 wheels are braked when you press the footbrake. Just sayin.
  5. I would ask a dealer to drop test a battery before they sell you a new one. That's the only way to test a battery state fully.
  6. It definitely works on non maxidot. Took me a few tries but it is there
  7. I'd have a r estate in a heartbeat. In fact I had a wander round my dealer last week. When I bought the Skoda I wanted a gti but couldn't afford it but it really looks like the glut of r on the market has devalued both models somewhat as essentially, for a base model gti with a couple of thousand on the clock is 20k now. And the r is between 25 and thirty. I did see 2 r hatches that looked dead similar in age and mileage (again sub6k) but they were 4 grand different price wise. They also had a couple of 66 plate r estates around 29k.
  8. Does anyone know, therefore, what the purpose of the soc software is, if it's of no usable purpose? What does it actually monitor? Voltage drop over time at rest? Or just the current voltage with no load?
  9. Interesting, and contrary to information given here on another thread that explained to get it working fully you needed to input something like the the new serial number from the new battery. I did think it's was a bit too much. Having said that. If you source a battery that is the same in relation to cca and ah. Why would the car notice anything different? My question really is, do you actually need to do anything to the car if you swap like for like? The car can't tell if you swap an oem for a Bosch silver line. It's just an electrical circuit, it doesn't get data from a battery.
  10. Batteries don't last forever (if it's a 2013/4 model it is very possible that could be the issue, assuming the alternator is charging fine). It needs a dealer, but, on the basis that you've been on a long trip, I would suggest that if the start stop is not working, it will be because the battery voltage has dropped to a sufficient level for the system to be disabled. Either the system needs some form or reset, or your battery is genuinely on it's way out. Either way it would need a dealer to properly diagnose, and to replace the battery as I understand you can't do that yourself without VCDS or their equivalent nowadays. Helpfully.
  11. Is the 2.0 tsi box different again? I've never had any problems from cold
  12. Can't remember who I'm with but I would check before I purchased. I'm sure I could go elsewhere but most insurers charge to cancel or finish early so I'd need to factor that cost in. It just freaks me out a bit, messing about with that part of the car. I have kids, and trying to explain to my wife that it was TUV type approved is little comfort if it went wrong. Look at that bloke recently that allegedly had a cruise control malfunction on an oem car. I'd feel like I'd be inviting trouble. Although I'd happily have a remap. Go figure.
  13. Also, I'm assuming it's a declarable modification. Did it make a difference to premiums?
  14. It's really hard to imagine what the difference might be without trying I guess. Does it make it more like sport mode? Which I kind of dislike as it makes driving it smoothly more of an effort.
  15. Seems like everyone that has one loves it. How much are they?
  16. Is this along the lines of the really cheap lease deals that were about for the golf r a while back? Is this lease or purchase and what are the prices typically? Interested if BMW are making some good offers.
  17. Do yourself a favour and google 'swedish ice scraper' You'll never buy a cheap one again. They're awesome. I'll dig a link out... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009SKM7Z4/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1480415110&sr=1-10π=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65
  18. This stuff annoys me. Dealers should have a code of conduct. I'm not expecting fsa compliance levels, but if a customer says no, you don't ask again. Anything more is pushy sales and when I get a whiff of that culture my hackles get right up. They really take advantage of people who are not confident and not everyone is. Many people hate the confrontational ways of car price haggling and it's no better than those shysters that come round old people's houses putting the fear of god up them.
  19. I'm always amazed that you can equate a current draw to fuel economy. If the battery is always charging them how does turning on the mirror heater equate to a tenth of an eighth of a gallon?
  20. That's a huge can of worms. If Ford say that, they should say, explicitly, why they do and what the implications are if you don't. I suspect, however, that there is absolutely no basis from an engineering perspective, why Essso is more 'compatible', and that it's just a joint promotion venture. Otherwise they would have to make some specific claims which would need empirical evidence to support that claim and other manufacturers of fuel would be paying very close attention to what Ford and esso claim.
  21. The steering will always go heavy when the engine stops. Nothing to do with the mode. Engine is required for power steering. No engine, no power steering.
