  1. So good quality winter tyres. Possibly if they were brand new when you did the test, they still had some coating (a releasing agent from tyre mould), it scrubs off after few days of use, and this lowered the braking speed Which (summer or winter) tyres are most grippy will depend on temperature, how damp/wet vs dry, and the surface (and tarmac comes in many grades)
  2. However winter wheels often start with about 8mm tread, and summer tyres about 6.5mm tread (I use about as varies by brand so can’t be precise) So if you wear the tread 1mm, diameter reduces by 2mm and circumference therefore goes down 6mm. Therefore not worth worrying about as no one replaces tyres when tread depth changes just 1mm
  3. I suspect there will be 3 USB-C ports, 2 on dashboard below infotainment, and another by the mirror (under a little cover) for those that want a dashcam. But this is speculation based on other group models But as with all facelifts, might gain something, and loose other features, so might not be worth waiting especially if price jumps
  4. The sort of people who buy a £40k car probably wouldn’t be seen dead with a phone more than year old, and phones have come with type C connectors for months. I bought a new phone 24 months ago and it had adaptor (adapter still in the box in the cupboard), probably more surprising that type A sockets were still fitted year ago
  5. It’s funny you say that, my father in law opted for Sandero Stepway (having been a Skoda man for years, starting with 2 Felicias), but has said same thing, Skoda is now too expensive and full of unnecessary gadgets. He loves the Sandero Stepway, and intends to get another when current one is 4 years old as it is solid, reliable and honest.
  6. It seems that plans might have changed, part of the reason for relocating the Superb to the VW Bratislava factory in 2022, is to free up space for a Fabia wagon (the estate version), so appears will be estate version of Mk4 Timescales would appear to be early 2022, so I suspect the mk3 will continue about 10 months (although range might get rationalised in meantime https://www.world-today-news.com/the-relocation-of-the-skoda-superb-to-slovakia-is-to-save-the-future-fabia-station-wagon-and-the-production-of-kodiaq-in-the-czech-republic/
  7. What is a tyre plan Does it cover seasonal changes, or pothole damage etc, or is it simply replacement when they are worn down after certain mileage (in which case what’s the point as tyre retailers aren’t hard to find
  8. That will be a wet clutch DSG box, so will need servicing
  9. What engine size and fuel is your car For years the 7 speed used with smaller engined cars was supposed to be sealed for life, but the 6 speed was wet clutch and needed a fluid change every 38000 miles Then (about 2 years ago) a 7 speed wet clutch version came along, and some people got confused as now had a 7 speed that needed servicing. So now depends on which engine and gearbox. If you can perhaps advise the first 2 three letter codes (which I think are engine and gearbox type) from the sticker (usually one near spare wheel in boot, and another in front of handbook or service book in glovebox). Someone will then be able to give definitive answer.
  10. It is some sort of transit location sticker, probably stuck on at a dockside compound. I would be asking the supplying dealer to remove the gummy residue as car should have been prepared (which includes cleaning) before handover If you dealer is long way away, to clean the glass take a cotton wool pad, and try white vinegar, or glass cleaner, or alcohol (vodka aledgedly also works), or paint brush cleaner. If it goes slimy then few spots of washing up liquid to degrease it). Don’t use some of these on paint
  11. Seems to me you have two options, change car now instead of June (problem becomes someone else’s, or have it fixed. Might be worth finding an automatic transmission specialist and getting them to change the transmission fluid (even though on paper it is for lifetime), might just fix the problem (or reduce it). Otherwise it does sound like one clutch pack is going. Sorry don’t know if auto transmission specialists are common in Northern Ireland, obviously they are in SW London (where about 90% of cars are sold as autos), but even some main dealers won’t have disassembled these so you will need to check who can do the job.
  12. It appears the 1 litre tsi 110 is stock only But lower power 95 ps version is currently listed (although listing may be not updated) Oddly VW and Seat seem to have this engine listed as 115 (or sometimes 113 on tech specs), rather than 110
  13. Seems there are different interior design options, with little videos https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/design/the-new-interiors-concept-feels-like-home/ Some of the Seat coverings are 60% polyester (made from recycled plastic bottles) Any opinions or thoughts on the concept / styles ?

The tyre sizes are different for 2 wheel drive and 4x4 versions when 19 inch rims fitted
  15. That would never get over some of the speed bumps in certain London boroughs
  16. You will find the wheel well is a bit snug for the 650mm diameter of the 215/45 R18 tyres (when new), obviously 2-3mm of worn tread knocks 4-6mm off diameter. From memory there is literally only a few mm clear of the 640mm spare in the wheel well. The main problem with 215/45 R18 tyres is they are quite an expensive size, with limited choice in that size, and because it is an obscure size, don’t expect your local tyre shop to have any in stock. Hence spare may be on for few days whilst a matching replacement is sourced. (Even many big online tyre companies want 5 days delivery for these, which suggests could be coming from warehouse abroad)
  17. Bad example, I meant things like rear cross traffic alert that use proximity sensors that are fitted, in that they would always be going off
  18. Do you have the manual a/c or climate version. When the fan speed is set to off/zero, the a/c light goes off, will restart when fan is on. I am guessing you have loose connection on a switch or wire, if randomly turning on and off
  19. Strange comment, may be ok on a basic spec one, if you don’t care if things work or not ...... but try using park assist on a car with a trailer and no coding.

For UK : SE and SE Drive get 215/55 R17 94V tyres SE L, sportline & Edtion (2wd) get 225/40 R19 93W tyres 4x4 versions get 225/45 R19 92W tyres 40 Profile tyres are great on flat showroom floors, but prone to damage if you use a potholed road The 16 inch and 18 inch wheels are not standard in UK But if you look at page 94 of this, has the full set : Vega, Crater, Mytikas, Braga, Trinity and Triton with both the 2wd and 4wd tyre sizes. Page 86 has some others eg Ratikon, or 16 inch Castor alloy with tyre sizes https://az749841.vo.msecnd.net/sitescscz/alv1/f54e767f-1b2c-4992-ad17-33e4b2f54179/karoq-katalog-2020-06.52cb1fc2d491fd7303e959900d0c70ad.pdf Sadly in UK it is not easy to get the sensible size wheels as option, or specify all season tyres (ideal for UK climate) instead of summer tyres (not suitable in colder months). Almost have to buy them as extras and hope dealer will take the unwanted size, otherwise end up buying 2 sets of wheels and tyres.

Dynamic Chassis control (adjustable dampers that are electronically controlled), note it is the damping, not the actual springs so smooths the reaction to bumps, not absorbs it like deeper tyres can http://www.skodamanual.cz/QR/Karoq-DynamicChasisControl.php

You will only find out by test driving both, and ideally take your spouse and switch front seats half way around But ultimately if you want comfort these days, then smaller wheels with deeper tyres might be better than DCC, think of tyre depth as primary bump absorber, and the springs as secondary bump absorber (one gets small ripples, the other the bigger irregularities), In practice they work together but to compare easier to think in parts The (basic spec) Karoq is sold with 16 inch wheels in some European countries, and going up 3 wheel sizes is seriously reducing tyre wall
  23. It seems tyre manufacturers are rapidly joining the all season market This month : Avon have launched AS7 Laufenn (Hankook’s second brand) launched G Fit 4S General Tire have expanded European range of all season
  24. Auto (if fitted) is a setting on the rotary lights switch I assume you haven't pulled it out (fog light light setting), as auto doesn't work with fog lights In the infotainment, go into car, settings, lights, and check settings, also try car, settings, convenience functions. Actually if you have just acquired the car, go into each setting one by one, moving through whole settings list and setting what you want, it may be an odd setting that previous user created.
  25. I would front-back swap them as soon as possible (I always suggest 13,000 miles). Not sure what your current tyre depth is, but they start around 7mm and should aim to swap them before fronts wear to 4mm. Should then get about 28k miles from the set. Ideally you need min 3mm tread to be able to drive safely through puddles If the wear is uneven (more on shoulders etc) then get a front wheel alignment done. Also good practice to check the tyre pressures at intervals as wrong pressure affects wear. Remember the original tyres are summer tyres, not really the best for UK climate, when you need to change them, I suggest you put all seasons on instead. If you want recommendation I would suggest Goodyear vector 4 seasons generation 3
