  1. I get the beeping and the red car on the central display at some stage on most journeys, very occassionally it has a crack at the braking. It's never yet been in a situation where I wasn't aware of what was happening. I usually find it goes off when the car in front is making a left turn. I know he will be gone before I get there, but front assist doesn't seem so sure. I keep thinking I will turn it off, but I know I'll probably crash as soon as I do. Interestingly I think it only works if you are going above a certain speed. I was behind someone joining a roundabout the other day when he started to go and then changed his mind and slammed the anchors on. I was moving forward with him as you do and had to react pretty quickly to avoid giving him a nudge. Front assist wasn't bothered.
  2. I have beige leather in my S3 and I'm usually in jeans and I can't say I've noticed it becoming grubby, unless all the leather is grubbying up at the same rate. All the beige plastic trim that comes with it is another story. This is an absolute magnet for dirt and always looks a bit grubby.
  3. Just happened again this morning. Made a short journey first thing and all was well. Stopped for about 10 minutes and when I restarted the car, all presets and logos gone with just "5A" on the station name display. I wonder what's causing it?
  4. Apart from redoing the presets, I haven't really bothered about it. If it was happening every couple of days I may take it in, but I imagine it would be one of those things that unless you can actually demonstrate it going wrong in front of them, they wouldn't be able to do amything about it.
  5. I've had this happen twice now on my L&K in the three months I have had it. I don't use profiles and my car is not exposed to Norwegian storms. Both times it was when coming to the car first thing in the morning. Where the radio station name normally appears it said "6A" and all DAB, FM and AM presets were gone. No other information was lost from the Columbus, satnav or other settings, just the presets.
  6. Suspension in normal, steering in sport. Tried all sorts of combinations when I first got the car. Settled on that as the best.
  7. The button on my glovebox rattles occasionally. If I put my finger on the button, the rattling stops, so it's definitely that. I'll mention it when it goes in for its first service if it needs the whole lot replaced to fix it.
  8. I don't think the heated seat in my Superb gets as hot as the ones in the Passat, Golf and Passat CC which preceeded it. On those cars I could only stand the 3 setting for about 20 mins before I was overheating, with the Superb it gets warm, but not really warm.
  9. I had TSR on my Passat, but it's not on my Superb. I thought I would miss it and briefly looked into finding someone local with VCDS to have it enabled. I didn't manage to track anyone down and now after a couple of weeks I don't find myself missing it after all so I'll probably leave it. I certainly wouldn't pay the £95 they want for it as an option.
  10. I had a Passat and a Golf before my Superb, both with the standard sound system. The Canton doesn't sound any better than those to me. I listen to mainly speech radio and Union Jack occasionally. The rest of my music is streamed over Bluetooth from Spotify.
  11. I have many of the options you are considering on my L&K. I would not pay any extra for: Canton - doesn't sound any better than the standard setup to my ears Reversing camera - the sensors are enough Backrest release - I've not actually had my seats folded down yet. I don't think it will be a tremendous hardship to release them from inside the cabin when I do. I would not like to be without: Front sensors - they've made me lazy but I rely on the sensors for all low-speed manouvering. Heated front seats - don't need them all year of course, but marvellous when getting into a cold car Heated front screen - used mine twice so far, but it's much better than chipping away at the ice Rear wiper - no cost of course, but really useful
  12. I prefer the Superb as I wanted to get away from the diesel engine (you can only get diesel-engined Passats in the UK). I'm much happier with the 2.0 TSI engine, and the softer suspension on my Superb. There's really not a great deal of difference otherwise.
  13. I've just switched from a 2015 Passat to a 2016 L&K Superb. I think the mechanical underpinnings are identical, as is the switchgear and infotainment etc. I'd say the only difference is probably the internal trim, so seats, door cards, etc. which are not quite the same quality as the Passat, but are still more than acceptable.
  14. I was showing about 40 miles range left when I filled up at Tescos earlier. Just got the receipt out and I appear to have got 65.17 litres into it. That was to the first click. I'm getting about 35 to the gallon, so if it was basing my range on that consumption there must have been around 5 litres left in the tank. 5 plus the 65 I added makes at least 70 litres in the tank. Now I've noticed those 65 litres of Momentum 99 have cost me £78.14. Boo.
  15. It's a funny thing but I would swear that since the weather turned colder a few days ago, each of the three DCC settings have firmed up a little on my car. I'm now running round with it set to comfort and it feels like normal did last week.
  16. I can comment on a couple of your comments. Stop/start: totally agree. I have KESSY, so my start up routine is press the engine starter and then press the stop/start disable button next. Got into the habit of it now, so it seldom catches me out. Will get it permanently disabled when I get round to having some VCDS work done. Condensation: I find the inside of the hatch is almost permanently misted up. Demister soon clears it though. Apple Car play: Needs to be connected via a USB cable I believe. I tried it once and was not impressed. I think Spotify is better through Bluetooth directly to the Columbus and the built in nav is better than faffing about with Apple maps.
  17. These have been sold now. I have a Briskodan coming to collect them on Friday morning.
  18. I think I may have to do that, as the traffic sign thing is about the only option I can enable on my car and I can't really justify an outlay of £200 for that.
  19. I fancy having a crack at enabling the traffic sign recognition on my car, but am I looking at paying about £300 for the cable and the software I'd need?
  20. I've just about settled on normal for mine now, with the occasional foray into sport when I fancy throwing it about a bit more. I think comfort is just too soft to be of any real use.
  21. Not much interest, so I'll reduce them to £150 before sending them to the eBay bear pit. Absolute bargain at that price - the tyres were over £300.
  22. No, it wasn't that. I only ever use the bling-bling key and I don't have the personalisation turned on in any event. Good idea though.
  23. Slightly similar situation - went to the car this morning and all the radio presets had cleared themselves. It still knew about my phone and the preset nav destinations, just the radio stuff had gone AWOL. I've just spent 10 minutes putting all the presets and their logos back on. All the stations were still showing on the station list for each band.
  24. Yes, it's a shame they couldn't have made it a bit less floaty as it is great at soaking up the bumps, but I was starting to feel a bit queasy with it after a recent drive and as the driver of a car I'm never usually affected by motion sickness. My son is much more susceptible, so I don't think he'd last long with it.
  25. I think the logo'd ones are a bit over the top and the plain ones look nicer.
