I've had the car since Oct and havent given it the treatment yet, due to having no drive and parking on a narrow street mostly, it manages a wash with a hose and 2BM every few weeks but nothing special. I was up at my parents last weekend so took the oppurtunity to use their nice big drive and pressure washer. Thought i'd show my attempt now i have chance to post the photos. The Before: Not too bad, but plenty of road film So first i took off both the front wheels to properly treat and clean them. Blasted them with the jet wash, then a spray of AG clean wheels, another jet, then a wash with Microfibre mitt and two bucket method. A rinse, then a lot of claying with BiltHamber Autoclay, another quick wash, then dry with waffleweave towel. And finally two seperate coats of Collinite 476 wax. The Result: The next morning, Mmmmm.... beady. < Front compared to dirty back wheels Unfortunately this all took so long i got snowed off: So i cleaned inside the arches, put the wheels on and i left the car for the next day. Firstly i gave the back wheels the same treatment as the front ones the day before, but leaving these ones on, as with rear drums they were very easy to do. I first gave the car a good blast with the Jet wash to get rid of the worst of the crud, especially underneath the bumpers and sills. Snowed the car, jetted again, then washed using 2BM with lambswool mit for upper panels and microfibre for the lower ones. Then rinsed with the hose. Next i clayed the lower panels and any other trouble spots using the BiltHamber clay, after this i jetted to clean and dried with a waffleweave towel. With the car dry i polished the windows using AG Glass Polish and used AG SRP to polish the rear boot lip (dog claw scratches). Then again rinsed the car and dried. I then gave the car a coat of wax using the Collinite 476, applying with sponge applicator, hazing then buffing with microfibre cloth. Unfortunately the light was against me so i didnt have time for another coat. But after all that i was happy with the results. Even with only one coat of wax it still beads really nicely, unfortunately one week later its covered in crap again... reaches for the buckets.

With ESP you get rear discs over drums, i cant comment on ESP as i dont have it on mine, but i can say that the standard brake setup with drums at the rear is more than effective. I dare say that with the 1.4 diesel in the rolly-polly estate body you shouldn't really be going fast enough to need it, i know i dont, i've not yet had an experience when i wished i had the ESP. HTH

Its probably a manufacturing error that has been affected by heat stress given the recent cold spell.

Room for control boxes etc
snownrock replied to Mike Austin's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Take out the radio, theres tonnes of room behind and under it, its a double DIN face but only a single DIN unit behind it so masses of space. It's where i put the control unit for my Bury BT kit. -
I agree about the Vroomster Scout having a goodspec compared to my combi, i would have liked one but being on the PCP theres over a £1000 deficit on the scout's GFV compared to the Fabia for me after 2 years so that was the decider.

snownrock replied to teedeeye's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
That can go the other way though, after seeing how SWMBO's grandma drove i would be catious of that too, don't think she ever fully took her foot off the clutch, i can smell the clutch smoke now lol -
Which car did you wish you had bought but didnt.

When my brother was working at Kia they had someone part-ex in a MkII Golf GTI in emerald green with leather interior relatively low miles (117k), bodywork was mint, lowered, lovely, but many engine and transmission issues put me off it. I was also selling the MKII 1.6 driver i owned to buy a diesel Fabia due to mileage i was doing at work. Wish i had taken the Golf, brothers colleague bought it for £500 and still uses it now :( -
Aren't these illegal, let alone vile.

Silver vRS GN04 GRF - known car?
snownrock replied to teedeeye's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
My opinion is someone who has made it look like that probably won't have driven it in the most 'caring' of ways, a sweeping statement i know, but just my opinion, it would put me off. -
That looks pretty cool, wonder how much cost difference there will be between this and a 3? Or if theyll be simiarly priced but with different spec like the vroomster.

I used to drive the minibus for the ski team at uni in my final year, a bit of a shock compared to a Fabia.

Has anyone used PC Specialist Ltd (pcspecialist.co.uk)?

Thumbs up from me too, there warehouse is 5 mins down the road from SWMBO's mothers, and its open to the public. Spent far too much money in there. -
Yeah my MkIII 1.1 had the same problem, my brother had it sorted in no time.

I think its a very sensible idea.

F**k!!!!!!!!! i live in hope that this offer will be back dated. -
Check Drivethedeal and Broadspeed, a dealer should be getting very close to those prices before you even consider making a deal.

Thule... Thule.... Thule!!!! I've tried other brands and had nothing but problems, they're a bit more expensive but they are worth it for their quality. The interchangeable parts mean that if you change cars you generally dont have to get a whole new set, but just one part. Buy from The Roof Box Company: sales and hire of snow chains, Thule roof boxes, Autoform, Fapa, Kamei and Karrite roofboxes, roof bars, bike carriers, and other car and travel accessories they have great customer service and prices. I use thule Bars and Freeride bike carriers on my Fabia, very sturdy and confidence inspriring.

Did you not look at insurance prices before you bought the car? A touch reckless

Ah right, figured it didn't exist. I looked for the same one on my Furby, used the hidden flap on my old Furby with a Sony HU and connects2 Ipod Kit. Its one thing i miss from the Grande Punto, had a USB socket in the glovebox for any mp3 player/storage device.
