  1. I stand corrected - I had assumed that a recharging key was a bit more technical than a standard key so assumed KESSY. You haven't had the key somewhere cold that might have affected the battery? I see it seems to have gone away for now from your follow up post.
  2. Everyone got 2 bags apart from me! Unless I just haven't looked under the bin...
  3. Not had it on mine (9.5 months old), but I'm assuming you've got KESSY and I haven't... :p
  4. I've emptied mine a couple of times...you've reminded me I need to do it again!! Trying to avoid putting sticky items in it so I can just re-use...
  5. OK I take it all back - on my drive home last night there was minimal resistance when releasing the accelerator in all gears - the braking effect I do notice is when I drop down to 4th or 3rd approaching a roundabout so it's a bit more pronounced than just letting the power off...
  6. I get some braking particularly in lower gears, but come to think of it not so much in 5th or 6th...will have to look at this on the way home tonight. Definitely get some if I drop to 4th approaching a roundabout and lift the clutch...
  7. Took delivery of mine 1st Feb 2016 Mileage so far is 25,221 as of this evening. No issues thus far...
  8. Great, thanks - Mine's the 1.6 TDI hatch, but irrespective of that the 620kg noted above is more than I need. Appreciate the info - was this in the manual and I just didn't read long enough?
  9. Evening all, hoping the grouped wisdom here can help me decipher the manual. I should be helping my mum pick up a load of gravel in the next few days, and I've been looking through the manual to try and work out what the maximum load/payload my Superb can take - I'm talking about internally as I don't have a towbar. I have found in the manual it states the payload is the difference between the permissible total weight and the operating weight (page 220), but I can't find the permissible total weight anywhere, other than some data about maximum weights depending on types of tyres. For my car the operating weight is apparently 1,465kg. We need to collect about 500kg of gravel. I am thinking that might be too much for one car/trip and suspect we'll split it between my car and mum's 2011 plate Vauxhall Meriva, but if anyone can shed light on what I can and can't lug about that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Matt
  10. Council offices on Fulbourne Road. Apparently I can park on road just to the north where the CPZ ends - haven't been there before but a colleague has.
  11. That's a bit worrying - I'm down in Walthamstow for a meeting tomorrow - any tips on making sure my Superb is in one piece when I get back to it ?!!! :peek:
  12. I've had my Superb just over 8 months and have just under 22,000 miles on it so far. Everything still seems OK - couple of minor snags on the steering wheel covering where it's got caught, but everything is still holding together and seems OK, nothing loose or rattling. For the most part it's just me using the car, so only the driver's seat gets used for the majority of the time, but that's all fine and I've no concerns thus far. Of course, I've said it now...waiting for something to fall off over the weekend :peek:
  13. I managed to scuff the bumper of mine on a white painted barrier while trying to squeeze into a very tight space on a building site the other day - had been thinking about taking the white paint that's transferred onto my red car with T-Cut, but reading above is this a no no? If so, what's the best way in taking the paint off?
  14. No idea what the temperature is on mine as it's either on or off (simple system on my spec level), but when it got v hot outside it was lovely and cool inside.
  15. On the website click on 'Settings' and set 'Display Units' to 'UK (litres, miles, UK MPG)'. You will also need to click on save changes at the bottom... Not sure if you can change it via the app.
  16. It's a very useful thing, and gets very addictive in terms of seeing if you've got further or improved your MPG! Wish the app was slightly better though, I usually end up filling in the info on the PC later on...
  17. So, for a few months I've noticed I've not been getting the usual Traffic Announcements over the radio as I did when I first got the car. Got the odd one or two, but in my hour commute I used to get several, from at least 3 different BBC Local Radio Stations. Strange and slightly annoying, but not enough to warrant a full scale investigation - I put it down to the change in the DAB broadcasts as we in East Anglia have lost quite a lot of DAB stations  BUT - I think I've found the culprit, and it's this: This dual USB charger/converter has been sitting in the 12v socket for some while after a work colleague gave it to me, and I plug my phones in as and when to charge. Haven't been taking it out as it fits under the phone box cover, until last week when I needed to plug a sat-nav in on a journey, and suddenly started getting TA alerts again! Since then I've tried journeys with and without it in and there is definitely a correlation. All I can think is that either there is some electrical noise being put onto the 12v or GND lines, or it's giving some EM interference or some such which is upsetting the Swing Radio unit! Anyone has similar, or is this just one of those odd things that happens to me...? Matt
  18. Thanks for all the replies, very useful and gives me somewhere to look. For reference in response to Fin69's query I have the Swing radio so no CD slot, hence the vent mount seemed the best way of getting the phone within my eyeline. Have a good weekend everyone!
  19. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations (or ones to avoid) for a vent mounted phone holder for the S3? I don't have built in SatNav so I'd like to be able to have my phone mounted higher up so I can see the screen (Google Maps etc) while going along. Generic type preferred, as I'm about to change my phone so don't want to commit to one variant. I'm sure there are hundreds, but if there is one that fits really nicely it would be great to know. I did used to have a screen mounted suction one a while ago (but it eventually broke), but it used to bounce around a lot (and then drop off every once in a while!) so I'd prefer something a bit firmer fitting, hence to the vent. Thanks in advance Matt
  20. Oh - and in answer to your query about range brim to brim - best I've had so far is 813 miles and it wasn't quite down to the bottom.
  21. Nothing wrong with diesel...! Getting decent MPG out of my oil burner but it helps 95% of my drive is at 70 on dual carriageway. To be honest, I was wondering about the 1.4 TSi (as I could have afforded a SE rather than an 'S') but the dealer advised me to go for a diesel due to my annual mileage. Ho hum, maybe next time. :p Nice to see someone who chose a sensible colour - assuming you re-order in the same that is! Get reordered quick and join us in our luxury - you won't regret it!
  22. Looking at my Fuelly figures the most I've filled up is around 61 litres, and it's saying I've done 778 miles on that amount, but an equal fill gave me 709 miles. My motorway to urban driving is around 10-20% (115 mile commute with only 3 miles not on dual carriageway). Car is a 1.6 TDi and I sit on Cruise quite a bit (A14 allowing). Edit: Just added my last fill up from Friday which I'd missed, seems I did 813 miles on 64.4 litres! Loving the efficiency of this beast!
  23. PS - I'm biased, but I also think the Superb looks nicer than the new Passat, which seems a bit bland...
  24. I too have the 1.6 TDi 120PS in my S3 (a 'S' spec) and having driven smaller noisier diesels before (my 1.4 TDi Polo sounds like a tractor!) I don't really notice the noise. In fact, on the occasion I drive with the window open and the sound reflects off say a fence or wall I think it sounds quite nice - bit gutsy. Like the other poster I haven't driven a larger TDi and would appreciate they are probably smoother, but as far as power etc goes I haven't found it lacking - even towed an older Passat the other day with no problems whatsoever! As far as economy goes, I think my Fuelly data is in my sig, but getting around 55mpg whcih is close to what my previous 1.2TDi Ibiza Ecomotive was getting - though I do now do a 115 mile round trip commute with all bar 5 miles on dual carriageway so that helps!
