  1. That's worrying - my car had it's last service just before it was a year old with about 30,000 on the clock and they were fine - 1.6 TDi manual, and the tyres still had 4mm tread left on them. That said, I live in flat East Anglia and note the OP lives in potentially a hillier area so may have made more use of brakes than me (OK, a rash assumption but just trying to consider all angles!).
  2. Just looked and found it, but only on the Sportline...lets hope my company car budget will stretch that far in 2019... (Looks good though!)
  3. Perhaps they realised that the Superb looks so amazing in red they felt bad for all the other car owners and removed the option... Hoping this is rectified in 2 years time when mine is up for renewal...or that yellow becomes available
  4. My 1.6TDi 120 warms up quite quickly too - in the mornings at the moment I'm seeing the needle hit the 90 degree (12 o'clock) position within 5 minutes or about 5 miles after leaving the house. I mainly noticed this as I'm waiting for the heat to come through to the car!! Sorry no photos - difficult to do at 70mph...
  5. Like you I've still got 4mm on front tyres (6mm rear), and I too get wheel-spin in the wet but on a manual, so it's probably just me! Also got the rear wiper on the hatch, agree it was a good move.
  6. So, as I picked my car up a year ago today, thought I'd just log my year's mileage alongside the rest of you. Collected the car 1st Feb 2016 with 9 miles on the clock and as of last night (31st Jan 2017) it was on 31,153. In that time it's been serviced twice with no gripes, and I've pretty much had a fault free year - had an occasional niggle with the parking brake/auto-hold very intermittently not staying on when I let the clutch up (see here) but even that's seemingly gone away . A very happy driver who is still very pleased with his choice, and likes driving something just a bit different - still don't see many other Mk3's round my way.
  7. This recall came up as due on my last service (Friday week ago), which amused me since my model doesn't actually have the chrome trim...!
  8. I posted some pics of my 'S' Superb a while back showing the lesser lights - non LED. Mind you, seen them on SE spec too.
  9. Mine's a 1.6TDI (manual) - will be 1 year since collection on Wednesday and about to hit 31,000 miles and have found it to be a very capable engine (from my limited experience of various cars anyway)! Sits easily at 70 along the dual carriageway every day and has enough left (if you drop a cog) to give a boost if needed. Plus, as you'll see from my Fuelly footer, reasonably efficient too!
  10. ...which in this weather is until you start driving it! I chose Red as it doesn't generally show up 'usual' dirt too badly, but the salt and mud is too much...
  11. So last Friday my car went in for a service and was fully cleaned, came back nice and shiny. 1 week and about 700 miles later... And I cleaned the headlights before I set out!
  12. Pity this is the week after I've got a week off otherwise I'd have come and spectated since Snetterton's only about 10 miles from home. Don't think my work would look to favourably on me slinging their Superb round the track anyway, not that I'd get up to much speed with a 1.6TDi! Might see you on my way to work heading down the A11 in the morning!
  13. My hatch was serviced on Friday and has just clocked 30,000; got 16" tyres and reported as 4" left on front and I think 6" on rears. This after having the car for a week or so under 1 year, and doing mainly long runs (so not putting too much strain/wear on lots of slow corners, etc). Will be interesting to see just how much longer they go for.
  14. Interesting reading this - I'd noticed from my last couple of Fuelly logs that my MPG had dropped a little. Not quite as much as the OP (from around 59mpg to 54mpg) but had put it down to having the heater on more in the car etc. Wasn't even aware there were different fuels depending on the seasons!
  15. Stupid question from me here - presumably it's not that the interior lights switch has been turned off (on the ceiling switch)?
  16. True - I've already towed a friend's Passat.... :D
  17. I'm lucky - I only have to get into Histon, so only a mile off the A14. Don't envy fighting your way into Cambridge...
  18. Had a quick test last night with the ignition on but engine off (ie as if I'd stalled), and both main and side lights stay on in this instance. As Offski says, there is also the option of parking lights. Not unduly concerned and am putting it down to 'one of those things'! (langers2k - noticed your area of operation for VCDS in your signature, do you regularly travel between the two? I commute from Wymondham to Cambridge daily so might see you!)
  19. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere (have tried to search but not found anything), but I've noticed a slightly odd thing with the lights on my Superb. If I have the sidelights on and leave the car having parked and turned the ignition off, I get a warning sound telling me I've left the lights on. However, if I do this with the lights on main beam, there is no warning and the car automatically turns the lights off. (I don't have automatic lights or anything like that). On the whole this isn't an issue, as in the current weather I'm pretty much leaving them on all the time so it saves me turning on one switch, but if the car can turn off the lights on main beam, I can't help but wonder why it can't then turn off the sidelights as well, so removing the need for any lights on warnings? Like I say, not an issue, more curious as to reasons...!
  20. Small miracle happened yesterday - I washed the cars! Not before I experimented with a bit of bumper graffiti...felt the window sticker wasn't very obvious! :p Oh - in relation to dirty number plates I went into the local Sainsburys the other day and the auto plate reader on the car-park entrance totally failed to see me! Didn't think the front plate had got that bad!
  21. Glad it's not just me. Have had it a few times, the last occasion it went ping every time I went slightly up a hill!
  22. Took these a few days ago but had 'technical' issues! Doesn't show too well on camera (one of the reasons I chose red, it doesn't show the dirt!), but the 2 tone wing mirror covers are a giveaway. Our Polo is giving the Superb a run for its money though, shows I don't like washing cars...
  23. Not sure if mine needed it at the first, 10,000 service but I do recall having to top it up sometime over the summer...can't remember when as I have to admit I don't check very often :peek:
  24. Have you accidentally knocked the Auto-Hold off? I think I've had something like this when stopping on my (level) drive if I just roll to a stop without my foot on the brake then turn off the engine - the car is still slightly moving and as the auto brake engages it makes the car lurch slightly as it stops the car's motion.
