  1. If you make sure the bottom of the Torx hole is clear of rust with a small flat screwdriver, you might get a bit longer out of the existing screws by covering the heads in grease. If you do get new screws, cover the heads in grease (service spray grease is great) as soon as you've put them in. Then just give them a light spray every service and they'll last the rest of the life of the car.
  2. Just received our new Monte Carlo today and I have to say that there is a lot less red on the seats than I expected. They've obviously toned it down a bit. It really is just the edges of the seats that are red now. The flats of the bolsters are now a carbon fibre look vinyl (I think) in dark grey. I think it looks quite good personally but I'm sure a lot of people won't like it much.
  3. Never had any trouble with mine (MY19) and they're still the originals. Had to put two sets on the Fabia I've had for three years though.
  4. Well, parts arrived with the freight today. I am happy to say replacing the gasket has also sorted my oil leak. Now I can take it for a proper drive and make sure it's all ok. So for future reference for anyone needing to change the coolant pipe along the front of the engine; get an oil filter housing gasket too.
  5. They usually bleed up by cycling the ignition on and off. It can take up to 15 times to get the fuel through properly, sometimes ten will do, then try starting. You've not had a great time with that service. Hopefully you'll have better luck with any more.
  6. Keepit!? I've barely even gotten to drive it yet! I got it shipped up from South two weeks ago and knew it was in need of a bit of work but the bits it's needed and the others I have caused (oil leak) have meant it's not been able to go very far on the road. Mostly due to having to wait for parts to be shipped up.
  7. Hopefully mine will be sorted with the gasket too. Hasn't arrived yet though.
  8. I'm thinking you've possibly gotten the wrong type of filter in the right box. I have to say though, I've changed a few of this type of filter but I've yet to see one that actually uses this slightly smaller element. My Roomster 1.6 TDi had a different kind again which was a sealed canister.
  9. These filters, the top needs a bit more force to seat properly, the seal is a little oversized. I've had to use a small block of soft wood and rubber mallet to get some to sit right before. As for the filter, does the new one not fit over the pipe on the lid at all? The part numbers on the box match up to what you have there.
  10. All of the ins and outs of your lease should laid out in your contract which you should have gotten a copy of with the car. I would think you'll be able to end the lease whenever you want but there will likely be a charge for an early termination. You really should see about getting your mileage allowance lowered and see how much you'll be saving, you might be able to afford both vehicles. You should have plenty of options anyway.
  11. I'll be doing the very same when my gasket arrives. Have you got bolts for the housing too?
  12. Glad you got it done. Any sign of an oil leak? My pipe actually looks worse than yours (from the look of your pic) but hasn't gone through yet. At that same T section as well. I ordered my new gasket today so hopefully it arrives tomorrow but more likely Friday.
  13. Ah I see, I had jumped the gun and thought you'd done yours. I did attempt to remove the pipe without removing the oil filter housing but it just wouldn't come out. I was replacing my radiator at the same time so had the front of the car off. That made access brilliant. The worst bit is the big bolt at the rear corner of the engine, it's one the same as holds the vacuum sphere next to the filter housing, 8mm Allen hex bolt, but it's under the pipe so you can't really see it and the gear cables restrict access for tools. The rest is a little bit fiddly but nothing too taxing.
  14. Hi @Gt4thomas, I am just wondering if you got your oil leak sorted with a gasket? I changed the same pipe at the weekend and funnily enough, I now have an oil leak that I didn't have before. There's plenty of threads about this problem but I haven't found any with any answers. Cheers, Rich.
  15. Meerest touch with the back of fingers for me. My partner had this trouble too, maybe still does, she couldn't understand that you don't grip the handle when locking the car.
  16. That plastic cover should be easily removable. I would say from your pics it's not quite sitting on correctly. They do move about with use etc. A bit of a wiggle about should sort it out.
  17. Yeah I completely agree about the Roomster being one of those cars that are just so practical with the amount of space in the size of car. And because they have their own niche, they're difficult to replace. Our one, the power steering failed, I think it had been on the blink for a few years before it gave up completely, so I had to replace the pump (I did the pipes too as they were rusty). Then on the way home from getting that sorted, an injector gave up. The bill for that two (just parts) and the salesman from the dealerships I work with showing me a Karoq Scout that my partner fell in love with, sealed the Roomster's fate. Ours did a lot of its mileage a half a mile at a time over eight years, so the adage that short journeys are the death of diesel engines isn't always true!
  18. The pipe had probably been sucking air then. That's turned out not too bad for you, I hope you get many more trouble free miles!
  19. I was told two weeks ago that there was no 110hp models available new. So existing stock is your best chance. I ran 16" wheels on our hatch for a few months and didn't notice any real difference in the level of comfort. I was running 205/50R16 on wheels off a Mk1 Octavia vRS, the rolling circumference equated to be the closest to that of the 185/60R15s on the car originally than anything else.
  20. You know, the fuseable links that sit on top of the battery, right he... Hmm. Where have they gone?!? My apologies, I was obviously thinking of another car. There used to be a large flat block attached to the positive terminal full of fat maxi fuse style fuseable links. They have obviously been discontinued now.
  21. It will be interesting to know the outcome of this. I had similar symptoms in our Roomster nearly five years ago now which eventually became permanent due to the failure of the EGR valve. The valve and cooler are one unit and is a reasonably involved job to change being situated up the back of the engine. So hopefully you don't have to go down that route!
  22. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the drive of the Roomster after a Yeti. It feels a lighter, smaller version of the same car IMO but is actually just slightly lower. And the Vario-flex seats are at their most practical in the Roomster. They were ok in the Yeti but are properly wasted in the Karoq.
  23. I think from what you say, the old battery will have had it. Sitting for so long with no charge ruins them. When you say that you checked the fuses under the bonnet do you include the fusible links on top of the battery? It's possible one of them has blown in your attempts to jump or change the battery?
  24. Before you go spending money, you'd be worthwhile checking that nothing about where the reel sits in behind the b-pillar trim or anything there that guides the belt back in has broken or that the reel itself hasn't gotten clogged up with fluff. Pull the belt right out to its full length so you can see the spool in the middle and you should be able to see if there's anything there that shouldn't be. I know it's not likely but it's worth a check if you haven't done so already.
  25. HeavyMetalRich replied to snafu's topic in Skoda Yeti
If you hadn't just had your panoramic roof done, I would be advising you to get a diagnostic check to see if there are any faults with the aerial. Being from a saltier climate we see a lot of corroded aerials, both standard and DAB on various (so far only) Skoda models, causing a fault code to appear and eventually reception to decrease. I replaced a DAB aerial on a 2017 Yeti just last week. The owner had been complaining of poor DAB signal. It might be worth you getting a diagnostic check too. It is possible it is just a coincidence that the signal has turned poor.
