  1. Looking decent. A set of wheel nut caps would finish off your wheel department just nicely.
  2. I tried to get a lid for my one a few months ago, all the places I tried didn't have one or didn't to post it up to me. I did end up getting one from TPS. Comes as the whole airbox with a filter already in place. Saved me a lot of time and hassle.
  3. Agreed. I remember looking at it on eBay and feeling sorry for it three or four years ago now. I'm sure it's in great condition. The paint job and price aren't to my liking though!😄 Its also been discussed many times in this thread.
  4. Oh, it's that one.🙄 Someone please rescue the poor thing! 😂
  5. Looks like you've got some greasy patches on your screen too. Give that a wipe with the afore mentioned cleaning methods or dedicated glass cleaner or near screen wash if you have. If you have a clean screen and wipers and you still get smearing, new blades is the way to go. Autoglym glass polish does give good results too.
  6. @e-Roottoot That's fair enough George, and I completely agree. Keep keeping us right please.😁 It's a moot point for the OP as he's done double the mileage but of course there may well be others who haven't.
  7. Did you take it off for a proper look? Seems more often than not they crack under a clip or on the underside of the pipe on to one of the connections.
  8. Yes I see that now thank you George, it wouldn't appear before for some reason. It was 3 months I thought the warranty period was for wear and tear items but it says 6 months very clearly in there too. No mention of 3000 miles anywhere... Except your post correcting me!😋
  9. Brake components are usually only covered by warranty for 3 months or 6000 miles IIRC. Being as they are, regarded as wear and tear items.
  10. To coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Mk1 Octavia vRS being launched in the UK, all of the car magazines seem to be getting test drives in the Skoda UK Heritage fleet vRS models. Lucky so and soes. Anyway, not being the slightest bit jealous, well maybe a little, I thought it was interesting to see the thoughts of people that are paid to drive many different kinds of cars and write about them. While they might not be telling us owners anything we don't already know, I personally find it quite satisfying that the cars we are choosing to drive/run are getting all round reasonable praise (ignoring the fact that it may or may not be paid for). Also good to see even the Heritage fleet's Mk1s can't escape the dirty light coloured upholstery!😄 Here's Auto Express' article: Skoda vRS History I'll try and add more as I find them.
  11. If your radio reception doesn't improve as much as you think it should, you might be worth replacing the base on the roof too. Its quite common for them to get a bit of moisture in and corrode causing a short to earth that impedes the radio reception.
  12. There's a decent 2014 Laurin & Klement 4x4 170ps for sale at a dealership up here. My Dad had it originally.
  13. Yip, if you can see the bulb in the headlight, it'll be an H4. If you can't see a bulb but a projector/lens like in the pic above, you'll need an H7.
  14. They do take a good grip sometimes. Checking the level frequently doesn't always help the stick come out any easier though. @DaveFromSydney,you just need to keep trying, it will come out.
  15. Yeah it's usually just the moss that breaks up and comes off. To clean it off, if the pressure washing doesn't work, get it wet, then using a small brush that isn't too stiff and some of your preferred cleaning fluid or car wash shampoo, just give it a scrub and rinse. It should come off a lot more easily than you would believe. Plus your car looks a lot better without the green!😁
  16. This. Although I have seen some track rods without the hex bit on the inner end requiring the use of pipe wrench or more specialised tools. Usually once you get them cracked they spin off in your fingers rather easily.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if you can get a model in the Flamenco Red. They did do most of the colours. Might just be in the 1/43 scale though. I am trying to get models of all the Skodas I've had. I'm yet to find any vRS specific ones yet though.
  18. That R5 Limited would have been a good goer if only they could have coaxed that power out of the 1.0 TSi. 125ps out of the 1.4 seems a waste, they'd have done well to go straight for the 150ps but hey ho.
  19. Ah yes, of course it is entirely possible the wheel has gone porous or past the point of saving in which case you've done the right thing. Good luck with it anyway!
  20. That's alright, thanks. Mine has the new style ones on but I fancy putting a little bit more colour back with it being black.
  21. Tidy. Have you still got the old badges and would you be willing to part with them Pete? How hard are you going to have to resist to do full on restoration?!😄
  22. @Carlston your tyre size tables have incorrect load indices for 205/45R16 and 205/40R17. Should be 83 and 84 respectively as I'm sure you know. Not that it matters in the slightest for this thread but I'm sure you pride yourself on your information being correct.
