  1. My current favourite pic of the car
  2. Do you know what the specific fault codes were? Have you also checked the tyre condition as well? Sounds odd but if one is the wrong profile or worn more than the other side then that can cause a rotational speed difference and throw an ABS light up. It would be worth them doing an in depth scan and maybe even test the sensor on the car with an oscilloscope, plus test the continuity of the wiring loom from any joins to the wheel speed connector.
  3. This might be a bit better. Looks like the arm has either separated from the subframe and took out the driveshaft or broken to me. I have seen a few MK4 platform arms break due to corrosion internally - it doesn't show up on an MOT though as it looks sound from the outside,
  4. Has anyone else experienced condensation forming in the rear lights (2015 hatch vRS)? I noticed some in my NSR lamp after washing the car yesterday, predominantly in the reverse section, but also in the top section (brake/side light LED?) If so, whats the easiest cure apart from replacement ?- typically the warranty ran out in September last year.....
  5. Hi, thanks, the blue has always been my favourite since it was introduced on the MK2. Very little in the way of oil consumption to be fair, barely 0.5 litre top up between services.
  6. Hi, They were from Aliexpress (France) 2Pcs Car Front Gas Shock Hood Shock Strut Damper Lift Support For Skoda Octavia A7 MK3 2012 2020 A5 MK2(1Z)2004 2013|Strut Bars| - AliExpress The CANBUS camera came with a lead to run through to the front (not too bad to do, just very fiddly) that has a pass through connector that plugs into the head unit in the glove box This is the camera i used HD Rear Camera Trunk Handle Reverse Camera For Audi A4 A3 VW Passat Golf5 Tiguan Altas Touareg sharan Jetta Skoda Superb Octavia|Vehicle Camera| - AliExpress With the OBD Dynamic Pro option. It is really clear and the lines on the screen are fairly accurate as well (not hit anything yet, lol) As for the under bonnet insulation, yes that is standard.
  7. First proper spring wash last weekend. First time using Autoglym Magma liquid clay followed by the Super Resin Polish - very impressed with the level of shine from the polish.
  8. Unfortunately the information they give regarding testing them is incorrect, plus no mention of the underlying causes as to why they can make a noise. 9/10 times a noisy DMF is a symptom of another issue, more so if the mileage is below 70k. Think of an engine/DMF like a washing machine, if it is empty it will spin quite happily without vibration. Put a load in there that is slightly off balance and it will shake around - a DMF is affected in the same way, add an imbalance in the crank (poor injector(s), uneven compression, faulty EGR systems etc) and the DMF will absorb some of that vibration for a while, but will wear out quicker. Plus NEVER replace a DMF with a single mass on a modern performance engine (especially anything common rail) as it will lead to damage down the line. So if you have a noisy DMF, make sure that the engine management system is checked when it is replaced to ensure that it lasts as long (if not longer) than the original - obviously driving style etc plays a big part in how long they last as well.
  9. send me the reg and an email address and i may be able to get you a spec sheet for it
  10. When you say OS do you mean RH or LH as sat in drivers seat? (Normally OS is the drivers side). Sounds like it could be turbo related, maybe that has imploded or a boost pipe has come off. Rings would usually show as burning oil (Blue exhaust smoke on acceleration/over run), so high oil consumption usually for months prior to the actual failure, It may even just be a clogged breather system as that can cause them to breathe heavily through the filler cap.
  11. I think you will find that is is 3 months from date of test for corrosion. If you think your car has passed when it should not have You’ll need to complain to DVSA if you do not think your car should have passed its MOT. Fill in the complaint form and send it to DVSA within the time limits below. DVSA will contact you within 5 days to discuss your complaint. If DVSA decides to recheck your vehicle, you’ll need to arrange a date. You will not need to pay the test fee again. They’ll send you an inspection report listing any vehicle defects. Time limits If your vehicle passed, you need to complain within: within 3 months of the MOT if it’s a corrosion-related problem within 28 days has passed for other defect taken from https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/problems-with-your-test-result
  12. £380 to supply and fit a clutch (when you consider it is a book time of 5.3 hours)?? That is seriously cheap, i take it you didn't replace the DMF with that? What brand of clutch was it?
  13. Is there an update for this one at all please? (and instructions if you have them) Also what does the update alter too? is it just logos etc or add more features? Never had a car with an updateable head unit before Thanks
  14. Other suppliers did, the OE haven't (I work for the OE manufacturer) It isn't advisable to fit the non shrouded version as they are also complementary to the DPF system (we have an ex VAG master tech that works here who knows a lot about these) A high proportion of repeat failures of these pumps is usually down to the installation. The collar should not be moved before it is installed a sit can damage the seals and lead to it running off centre causing it to stick. If you have the switchable pump you can unplug the solenoid (as that is all it is) and it will revert to its normal fail safe state of uncovered.
  15. I decided to work out the long term fuel consumption since i purchased the car at the end of October last year. So, a total of 751.94 litres of V power have gone in over the last 8k miles (7989 to be exact) which works out at 165 gallons that in turn equates to an average of 51.1 mpg (or 5.53 l/100km for the metric version) As for the cost.......£973.75 at an average of £1.29/litre. Happy with that
  16. So, after 4 and a bit years of Mk 1 ownership an opportunity to purchase a Mk 3 came up (actually, 1 year ago today as it happens :D) so here it is, my Race Blue MK3 vRS. Not much has happened to it so far, apart from some mudlfaps, bonnet struts, CANBUS reverse camera and new water pump and timing belt kit (scheduled change). So, some pics
