  1. The pump is driven by the camshaft which it intertwines with - I've never tried to remove the pump still attached to the cover so it may be possible but I doubt it.....and for the sake of 4 bolts and 1 minutes work it is best to take it to bits. If you had a whole day off work you should have been able to complete the job at least twice!
  2. Its the age old problem of steel bolts going in to alloy.....
  3. There are a few of them so you should be able to get away with one missing. When they have snapped for me they snap leaving a fair amount sticking out which I've then been able to extract once I have the cover off.
  4. Do you have the Haynes manual? It is not always perfect but for this job it is ideal.......everything is described and correct. Those screwdriver headed bolts can be a real problem though....I've snapped a few in my time.....terrible design
  5. You need to take the rear engine cover off but you can do it with the back panel of the car on - no special tools needed and you follow the marks on the chain and the 12 cogs between rule that is in the Haynes manual......the instructions are usually also in most chain kits. Buy your chain kit from Skopart.de and you will be fine. It is laborious but no special skills needed. The screwdriver head bolts that hold the cam chain cover on can be very difficult to get undone...don't worry about the engine moving whilst you're doing it.....the cogs and their setup govern where everything goes so a bit of movement is easily cured when you align the cogs/chain
  6. I think rear hoses fit either.....you just need a set of 120 hoses. Goodridge ones on Ebay are good (I have them on both my cars currently) although if you want rubber hoses Skopart.de have them on stock I believe - they accept paypal payment and are super efficient.
  7. I have a set of rings from a reasonable engine.....is it possible to post them to Cuba? If so then I'm more than happy to sort it
  8. Anything is possible but if you're asking on an internet forum you probably don't have the necessary skills to do it yourself! Fitting a FWD drive train into the back of any car is going to be difficult because it's not designed to go there and you'd need to fabricate subfames, drive shafts and sort all the electrics out too. It would be particularly hard on an old rear engine Skoda because you'll also need to fit a fuel injection tank and all the necessary gubbins to run EFI......but pretty much anything is possible if you have the skill or enough money.
  9. I have ordered from TYM a few times (differential, suspension parts etc) but often they do not reply and I have to send more than one email and sometimes they never answer!
  10. I deal with Speedpro often and they are quite easy to deal with and post to the UK but their range of old Skoda stuff is less than it used to be. TYM are quite difficult to deal with and often dont reply but they will post to the UK. I haven't dealt with Kalmar. None of them have the body panels though. There is a fair bit of second hand stuff available in the UK......you just need to know where to find it.
  11. Then you will need lots and lots of money.....gear kits are available from TYM motorsport for a couple of thousand £. Engine wise you won't be able to get a real LR cylinder head. The best you'll do is a 136 engine (Favorit or early Felicia but there are pit falls as some are not entirely compatible).....and then you need to tune it if you want it to go like an LR.......and that will cost another thousand or 2 at least. Suspension is relatively easy......if you just want it to look decent and go ok then gas shocks and springs are available in the UK. If you really want it to handle then you need a set of LR rear arms, hubs welded turrets etc etc.
  12. Most LRs were virtually standard bodily except for the rear birdbath spoiler. If you want the wide body EVO kit then they are available in CZ but a lot of places won't post things like that due to the chance of damage. A lot of Czech firms are also not interested in exporting and don't accept debit or credit cards. Try this lot... http://www.ksmotorsport.cz/?page_id=30 This lot also do it but I am pretty confident they won't post abroad http://www.mkkosa.cz/ambitioncar/body-kity-sady/
  13. You will also still be able to get an ignition barrel for it - www.skopart.de
  14. The ignition system is so basic you can start the car without using the key with the removable terminals on the back of the ignition switch. They are the simplest cars in the world to work on but you're on the wrong site to get detailed information try here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/skodaownersclub/ The ignition barrel should work if you continue to put WD40 in it and move it - it will have a number of positions like any car - ready, ignition on, start being the usual 3
  15. It might just need bled but the seals on the master cylinders can go on them (like any old car) - so you don't lose fluid they just don't push any fluid round the system
  16. You shouldn't need an oil cooler and the water pumps are pretty bomb proof. The thermostats sometimes stick but most of the time it is the HG in my experience. They tend not to suddenly blow but gently go wrong. Fix it before it goes or you might crack the head and then it is scrap
  17. No you can't fit the 136 head - the bolt spacings are completely different and the liners are also differently spaced on the 120 block. The 136 suffered just as badly from head gasket problems - the heads warp instead of cracking like on the 5 port engines. If you have a healthy 120 engine that is properly maintained then you shouldn't suffer regular HG problems. The heads often need skimmed, and sometimes the liners can sink and need thicker shims.
  18. Let's hope he can do something a bit more interesting than the recent generic, dull SUVs they've turned out or the fugly Octavia facelift!
  19. If it's not the heat shields (which a lot of cars dont have anymore because they get left off when people work on the cars) it will be the exhaust baffles.....they come loose inside the silencer
  20. There are hardly any left - most have already gone back to CZ.....Matej and others have been advertising and buying for years
  21. Ok....Matej Kryndler spends his life asking people on the Skoda Owners club Facebook site for cabriolets and rare Rapids (like my Garde!) - he has bought a couple too I think. You won't find anyone on here with one I doubt......it's not really an old Skoda place.
  22. You might struggle on here because it's not a big place for us old Skoda owners, however you will find the likes of Paul Wyatt, Dave McKinney and others (who have S110rs and lots of spares and knowledge) here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/skodaownersclub/ S110 parts are starting to get scarce - particularly body panels
  23. There are a couple of Canadians over on the Skoda Owners club site on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/skodaownersclub/
